About Else
Else van den Hooven is a Dutch illustrator who in 2017 graduated at the University of Portsmouth with a first class Bachelor of Arts in Illustration. At Portsmouth she practiced illustration with a wide range of media, including printmaking, freehand drawing and digital software. Often combining traditional with digital, she enjoys creating mixed media imagery. In 2016 she founded her personal label “October Seven”, which features her quirky interests, such as flightless birds, the natural world, odd research findings and indie photography. She engages with the idea of combining illustration and fashion, and has therefore introduced October Seven as a fashion label. Since 2012 she has received a number of bursaries and awards regarding her artwork from different countries including The University of Art Collection Award (Portsmouth), Drømmestipendet (Norway) and Kulturpris (Norway). Recent group exhibitions include New Designers, Business Design Centre, London UK; Duo exhibition, Café Au Cinema, Southsea UK; Graduation Show 2017, University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth UK; The Journey Festival, Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth UK. She is currently based in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, pursuing a career in fashion and textile design. Find more of her work on www.elsevandenhooven.com and on social media @octobersevenillustration.
