The Miracles of Make-Up - Basic Steps for Busy Women And Beginners By Prudence Yeo

Despite growing up in a female dominated household, I was taught from young that make-up is unnecessary and buying cosmetics is a waste of money. As my mother is a homemaker with little social activities, she does not have the habit of applying make-up. Hence, I grew up believing that the use of cosmetics is just an expression of one's vanity, which should not be encouraged. Such a belief finally changed when I entered the workforce as a public relations professional. There are friends who feedback to me that I should change my image if I want to do well in this field. As I usually dress well, I do not really see what changes I should make. Nevertheless, I decided to learn more about how to improve my image through a professional Style Coaching™ course. This training is an eye-opener for me and I learnt quickly how to use make-up to enhance my natural beauty. Friends and family who witnessed the change in me were amazed by how good I look. In addition, I can feel that new business contacts pay more attention to me and take me more seriously. All these make me feel a lot more confident about myself and I feel strongly that there is a lot more I can achieve in life. My purpose of recounting the above story is to emphasize how picking up basic skills in make-up application can change your life for the better, even if you are not taught to believe so. I recommend busy women the few simple steps below on how to apply make-up in about ten minutes:

Step 1: Apply Blemish Balm (BB) Cream over the face. I will recommend BB Cream as a light foundation since they also act as a moisturizer, primer and sunblock at the same time. The result is a natural looking skin with a nice, matte finish.

Step 2: Apply blusher to create the look of healthy flushed cheeks. Choose one with a subtle sheen to give a good glow without appearing too shiny.

Step 3: For beginners or women who find eye liners challenging to use, you can use eye shadow as eye liner. It is recommended to apply eye shadow primer before applying eye shadow. For a start, choose an eye shadow color that is close to your hair and eye colors. As you become better at applying eye makeup, you can experiment with different colors and see which suit you best.

Step 4: If you have eye bags or dark eye circles, apply a suitable concealer. Choose a color that is just a little bit lighter than your skin tone. Moisturize the area under your eyes with eye cream before application to avoid the concealer from revealing itself with a chalky presence. Step 5: Apply a little lip stick or lip gloss to finish your look.
