Musculoskeletal rehabilitation centre offers nurture therapy, a harmonious exchange between health, nature, and human ecology. Located at north Bandung sub urban area, easily accessed by public transportation, surrounding by mountain and city view, hopefully can create an atmosphere which stimulate the body to produce dopamine and endorphine that speed up the healing process.

One Responsible For Their Own Health

More Than Just Bringing The Outside In

The process of caring for and encouraging the growth or development of someone or something, which contrasted with inborn characteristics as an influence on or determinant of personality.

The “Feel At Home Atmosphere

This buildings are for them who has difficulty in moving because of musculosceletal disorder. Therefore the circulation is the key to this design. Patients need the easiest and shortest circulation to access any room they concerned. To make it easy, all the buildings are on the same level. To reach other levels, it uses elevator as vertical circulation. There is one main horizontal circulation that connects all the buildings which accomodate different function. The more private the function, the farther the distance from building entrance. So out-patients do not have to travel far from building entrance, because they just travel to the therapy building and use elevator to access therapy room which they desire. The higher the level, the less the users of the therapy room. So for patients who have not fully recovered, they do not need to go far from the ground.

MAIN SHAFT CLEAN WATER SCHEME HOT WATER SCHEME RAIN WATER SCHEME ELECTRICITY SCHEME

Not only the circulation access, but utility circualtion is also important in this design. The utility circulation needs to be integrated with the buildings so the system could work properly. In the therapy building, there are two cores for vertical circulation. These cores also work as main utility shafts. One of them supports utility needs for the clinic building and half therapy building. The other shaft supports the in-patients wards building and half therapy building.

Each floor represents one kind of therapy. As an effort to bring the nature inside, each floor connects to outdoor green space that used for outdoor therapy activities. This landscape also allows patients to move about with ease on footor in wheelchairs while enjoying the nature.

Sectional Perspective

Using open air concept for interior, which success so well at introducing natural light so artificial lighting is not required during the day . It also allows building to use no air conditioning because it promotes natural cooling. Solar panel is also used to convert solar heat into electricity and water heater.

Fusion

CONVENTION HALL BANDUNG is one of modern city in Indonesia. Its population has reached 2.4 million in 2015. Fusion Convention Hall is a public space that will stimulate and facilitate social interactions of Bandung’s people. The idea was to fusing people and their social activities, especially MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions) with building and natural environment. As a public facilities, Fusion is designed to be visioner, its spaces are designed to be lively and integrated with the environment. The utility system of Fusion is made to be effective, in order to minimize the use of energy. The facade is composed of wood vertical louvre which function is not only to give the building its unique appearance, but also to reduce sun glare, at the same time allow for natural air flow and ventilation in the tropic climate.

This buiilding is designed as a respond to axis line and curved side of the site. Building entrance is placed on axis line.

Car entrance is placed near the main street while pedestrian entrance is placed on the curved side, near mall and food court at west.

Main building is located on the centre of site, that make this building centre-oriented. Therefore this building serves as public facilities, such as restaurant, coffee shop, souvernir shop etc.

This street will be Nyengseret’s people identity. Most of Nyengseret’s people are sundanese people, then sundanese atmosphere should be felt from this street. Sundanese atmosphere is achieved by increasing the value of social (with whom they live) and nature (where they live) aspect. In order to design communal space that is functional, effective and efficient for Nyengseret’s people, it should be not only green but also comfortable to be used by a lot of people and represented “sense of sundanese way of life” from its culture, ethics, etc. Nyengseret’s people comes from any ages, so to accomodate all the users each communal space has its own area for children, adults, and elderly. To make a sustainable communal space here, “sense of belonging” of Nyengseret’s people takes an important role. By making kampong street as their identity, it increases their sense of belonging, then they will take a good care of this communal space (no littering, no vandalism to street furniture, etc)

Located at urban high density area make this site lack of rain water catchment and recreation place. West Java People’s Struggle Monument existence also often be forgotten. By seeing those issues, this design comes as the solution. This park is called as Taman Sauyunan, offers smart and functional facilities and integrated with the West Java People’s Struggle Monument itself.

BABAKAN KIDUL

The existence of local culture should be kept alive in modern community lifestyle. Wayang Golek is one of sundanese local culture which is often heard and enjoyed by Sundanese people. In the world of wayang, there is a well-known term “Gunungan”. Gunungan is a webbing mountain-shaped, used as a sign to start, pause, and end the wayang show. In site planning, gunungan is used to mark the boundary of one zoning with another.

Main Concept This site is choosen because it is located at South Bandung, surrounded by five high density housing complexes, and very lack of green area as water catchment.

South Bandung area was a large rice paddy field. As time goes by, this green area has changed into residential area. The local culture of this area also gradually eroded. Caused by those issues, this area needs a public space which restores its local culture and at the same time adapts the technology advances, so the harmonious exchange between green/ nature and technolgy will occur. Local material application and rice paddy field making are ways to bring the local culture of this area back. Hydroponics planting with LED lamp and augmented reality program are ways to apply technology in human living which can not be detached from its nature and social environment.
