Editor’s Letter “As long as Hip-Hop existed, the people has been waiting on this to happen for the longest”... The expansion of urban music cultural, yes we say it; It was time for us to add an addition to what everybody know as the Rap game. From hard body lyricism to the way a person expresses themselves, we have came a long way in this world with our music but since that is being said... We see the main objective, Hip Hop/ Rap has turned into a battle between who got the most Money, Poswer and Respect. It’s not even about the lyrics anymore and that is one of the downfalls in our popular culture today! On May 28, the world was introduced to the Semi-Industry and within that industry; you will hear the music that you can feel not just by ear but through the spirit. Recently, most releases serve the purpose of temporary enjoyment... We are here to provide the longivity of Entertainment that will move the people in an elite way. Nearly around two years ago, when I became the editor of this Empire, I seen that everything that I done for everybody else I could do for myself. When there was no jobs, I created companies to occupy my ideal time and get my message across to all of the future influential leaders! Music might be the only thing that a person has to cope with in life... It isn’t our fault that we’re blessed with an almighty talent that can change the world for the better. Most people do what they do for the money, I do this because of what I have to offer to the world. Not too many people stay doing what they do for too long if they’re are no profits being retrieved. I seen my award was more than materialistic values... It’s the creatation of life and growth within our great nations. In this Babylistic world, everything might seen like its against you but keep your head up and remain focused on your main priorities. Great blessings comes from creating the messages Hip Hop isn’t just a cultural, it’s a form of that the children can benefit from. Our look was informed by the life. As the artists gives it breathe, watch Great Lakes Ruler of the Graphic & Arts, our sensibility defined by as it matures to become an adult! the way we express each and every aspect in this music industry. —

FROM C

From the battlefield to the stage, this artist stands proud to serve with his music. With the correct discipline, organization, strategies and objective tactics; Captal A is one force to be wreckin with on the lyrical side and up-to-date flow side. Leading a council, Cap has worked extra hard in the service to have the “Captain” title before his name.”Right now you’ll seeing and hearing Pop contaminated rap but is that really enough to survive with? The music that Cap does is for the players worldwide and everybody else that wanna hear great music from a “Playa of the Game”. This upcoming East Coast semi-major artist’s musical influences are quite mixed like a Ron C tape... From the East Coast, they are KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, Rakim, Nas and so on; and on the West, its TooShort all the way to B Legit. As you see his two (2) music videos, “PGM” & “Boss Playa”. “The most influential leaders that I’ve admire are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X and Maya Angelou.... I have much respect for them”. As Cap A recently got picked up by VEVO, he is steadily rising in the charts. Featured on DJ Ron G’s “Who Made It 2” release; You can now check him out on Ron G’s latest mixtape “In My Own Lane”. Previously seen inside of VIBE, Hip Hop Weekly, The Underground Fix, Artists & Repertoire Review Magazine and many more to come. Serving a full term in the Navy and 4 year in the music industry, Cap has gone far with his long loved career, Hip Hop. Originally from New Jersey, he is currently wrecking shop in North Carolina holding it down on the mic as well as moving units of his artwork everywhere he go and promoting to multitudes!

AP A

CAPTAIN TO RAPPIN

11

Cap A, New Jersey native, adopted his name from an ancient philospy. In the beginning, his dad told him if you’re going to be anything then be the best; either if its being a floor sweeper, be the best floor sweeper; if you want to build rockets, then build the best rockets so I picked that up and ran with it as far as Cap being an artist/ MC. The best rapper... What’s the top? THE CAPITAL, The capital is head of the country, the town or whatever... The capital couldn’t be sitting by itself, it sounded like something was missing so I throw the “A” behind the “Capital”, which is also the first initial of my name “Anthony”. I’m not even muslim, when they hear my name they say that’s Cap Allah right there even though that’s not even my culture. Now to introduce the COUNCIL, the council is like a committee of people who sit down and discuss topics from good to bad, coming up with a parallelism agreement in handling business the most ethical way. This council is a brotherhood and sisterhood of individual with great talents that want to make things happens in music, fashion and other forms of entertainment. We are a network of hard working PGM’s that stick to what we do best on and off the microphone! To elaborate more on Boss Playa... “Its an EP series starting off with Boss Playa volume 1 and official music video. The term itself is what I got from being a fan of Too Short, B Legit, E-40, The Click, Suga Free, Snoop Dogg and the whole Bay Area” that used that term. I see that they did it in a cool way so that’s how Cap is bringin it in his music. I can go way back with B Legit, he did this one song that go like “Every ghetto has a smile....”. The difference bewteen Boss Play and the other releases is that its the lifestyle that he’s living. “I’m talking about the things that’s going on now. I’m giving the fans the highs and lows, ups and down; I’m not just giving you just a piece of a corn on a cob or potatoe without the steak or meat... Im giving you the whole plate: steak, corn, potatoe w/ gravy and butter with some water or juice to wash the lyrical food down with”... 12

What was on Cap’s mind when working on the “PGM” track was that he want to do anthem for the Playaz Gettin Money and since it was a trap beat, it just fell into place just right. “The number one song that I meant the most to me was a track before I even did PGM, it was called ”I Love It”, which is also a video that the ladies can check out”. “I got started in the music scene when I was young, my best friend was a DJ, he took me to a lot of places. We were true Hip Hop heads, he was my first mentor... I learns a lot from how he was doing things and that is one of the best gifts that a person can experience in music to me. I have several mentors from OGs to other aspects of life. When it comes to education, it is very important for survival and everything that you. “ As the Captain continued on to the next question, he stated that the first artists to listen to before entering the rap game should be Biggie & Pac. Shout out to everybody in the Empire, Council Music Group, all of my fans, the people that isn’t my fan right now and all

13

the nations in the world. For the ones that really want to know more about Cap A, he does the music for the people that enjoys the music and culture like he do; the people that don’t know much about the cultural but like the music... “I do this for them!”

Operation: GET MONEY! Written by Vietnam Jones

Since the 8 years that the Bush dynasty held position in office, things have not been the same in today’s economy. A lot of people are shouting out there’s no jobs out there; and for the ones that have them most of them know somebody that know somebody. We’re in the era of civilization that we must obtain all 3 neccessities: Knowledge, Money & Social Comfort. It has gotten difficult for the taxpayer and non-taxpayers; the prices of food and gas has risen as well as views of the supreme, disassociated minority race. With a president with melon in his skin, people are just seeing color. When it came to JFK helping the people, he stated that he wanted all people to have equal rights and freedom... for man is born FREE. If you look at how great the United States has gotten beginning from the 60’s all the way to now, you’ll learn that this country is fueled by all ethic groups and culture. We know its hard, just keep on marching throughout the oppression of life. When there are no opportunities, then its time to create them cuz I see it like this, if we’re all here then we should recognize that helping does more than harming! Much love...

Education is important to every aspect of life, from coping with issues everyday to obtaining an employment position. This is one thing that provides one with the resources that is a neccessity to maintaining a healthy way of living!

Dogmatic

DETROIT’S LIVING PROOF 18

19

“Throughout everything that a person go through in life, one must be the force that governs the decisions of a mastermind” - V Dot Nam. As the wind blows through the foreclosed streets of Westide Detroit, hear the legecy of all of the greats that romed every corner. From the home that brought you motor vehicles, soulful music and trendious fashion; here’s come two (2) legends that made a mark in Great Lakes’ Hip Hop music. To everybody around the world, get your hands together for the one, the only Detroit group that sold millions on the streets, Promatic. Besides D12, the Eastside Chedda Boyz and Street Lordz; this trynamic duo represents the rugid lifestyle of a soldier maintaining in the concrete jungle. With one member left surviving in today’s music cultural, Dogmatic is still making major moves with his music career while holding it down for his brother MC Proof. Currently distributed under Universal Records, Matic continues to run his own record label and production company “Sicknotes”. Most people outside of Detroit know of MC Proof from being in Hip Hop’s supergroup, D12 but to the residents he is known for being a loyal, dedicated member of the group 5 Elements. Proof did several tracks produced by the last great creator of Neo-Soul, J Dilla. Dogmatic first started at the age of 14, when he was going by the name of K-Stone in the early 90’s. Interesting fact that he was influenced by an OG player in his neighborhood named “Stoney Roney”. Since Dog looked up to him, he mixed it up with his own name (Kevin) and got K-Stone. As he got older, he felt that he grow out of the name. When he got serious about the music, he changed his performance name. “When I was young rapping, I was something like a Lil’ Bow Wow. People that I wen to school with (Hampton, Julian, 6 Mile & Mumford) that this n**** been making records since the 7th, 8th, 9th grade. After so long, I started going by “Dogmatic” because of the way he was with girls told to him by his mother. Laster on, he figured out, it was a biblibcal meaning for the name he chosen. From the catch phrases of Detroit residents you will hear the most known saying “What Up Doe” but to rewind back into time, the slang was simple as putting Dog at the end of every sentence or statement. “Mannne, that was our sht bro... “, Dogmatic emphasized. These two meet in High School over Dogmatic’s homeboy and well-known Detroit underground artist, B Def’s crib... Me and Pro use to freestyle at B

20

Deff’s but they knew each before I met him. My boy came up to me and told me about this young cat named Proof so he came through and I heard myself that he was cold MC. See Proof was the type that could freestyle his butt his, give him anything and he’ll rap about it. From that point on, we got cool from there. A year later, we did a song for a label on Gratoit & Harper in the city. They had an event for the children showcasing the talent, also a compilation album called Silence The Violence. You could probably still get a copy out there but me and Proof rapped back to back and that was the beginning of us being what the world know us by... Promatic. Even though we didn’t do songs two years after that, we still remained cool with each other while he was working with his group 5 Ela. We use to do shows together, it was KStone, 5 Ela, Eminem & Slum Village; like I said we all use to do shows together. Dog & Proof got together on the collaberatively in 2001. As time went by I was doing my thing as KStone; touring with MC Breed a couple times and when I got back to the city... 5 Elements was getting their sht on. Proof called me up and said “Marshall got signed by Dr. Dre. When Pro got me passes to the Chronic tour, I came to see him and he told me “Hey we gotta do a record”; he came to the crib; we recorded it and it was so f***in hot that we did another record and multiple records after that. Once Promatic was born, it was solid from that point. After the 2000’s era while working with 1st Born, he was introduced to him and Strife through the Mountain Climberz, its was a bunch of members in that. Prior to 1st Born becoming Proof’s secriuty, we got real tight. When you mix Dogmatic with Proof in one pot, you got yourself a nice dish of “Promatic”. While working on the “Living Proof” album, Matic was in mourning and wanted to put on wax that he is the living proof of his Homeboy’s dream because he died before he seen his. As he was putting the project together, he did like he was working on a Promatic album... using the stay formulas and it worked out for him because of in his mind he was like he know that

21

Proof isn’t with us physically but Proof was more spirit than anything. Every song that I did, I asked him was that hot? what you think about that? how would he have me say a certain line? in my mind and I was getting answers back so that’s probably why this project sounds like a previos Promatic release. Proof use to work so hard in the studio, he use to fall asleep on the floor and wake up to do more songs. On the Adventures of Promatic LP, legendary icon Dolemite was the guest appearnace that gave both soldiers a shout out on their debut group album and you can hear that it was official and not a sample that was auditorily generated. “The way that we got Dolemite to speak on our album was from a show that we did in Detroit, which I couldn’t wait to meet him. I grow up looking at his old movies, my pops use to collect his movies. I had a chance to catch him back stage and he was gracious enough to do for us. Dogmatic was first introduce to the international recording industry by being involved in Dr. Dre’s “Up In Smoke” & Eminem’s “Anger Management” tour. “During the “Anger Management tour, we had the Promatic mascot; wrapped vehicles; and all that... It was a great experience traveling around the United States doing what I dreamed of doing and getting paid at the same”. We were on the “Anger Managment” mixtape volume 1 and 2. Most people that say that they want to be in the game really ain’t showing it, I am real Hip Hop, I started this in the 90’s when it wasn’t cool when everybody wanted to be dope boys, they didn’t want to be rappers. They wanted to be the Ballers. On the strrets when dudes use to hear “RAPPER”, they said forget that, I’m bout to sell... Hip Hop isn’t what people think it is, its different forms and n****z can rap about anything that they want to rap about but our culture is to inform the masses in the communities and to be active... that’s what Hip-Hop really is but no one is taking action becuase Hip is the slang of being aware of and Hop is the slang of jumping on or to do. “If you ain’t being informed and/or moving with your information, then you’re not Hip-Hop. The highlight of Dogmatic’s carrer was recording all of the Promatic classics. Dog doing Promatic was him coming to the surfaves in underground and joining forces with with another classic artists as well as working with other big names. Kuniva and Bizarre were a big help. At that time, a lot of people didn’t like what me and Proof was getting ready to do at Shady. It was cool as long as we were in the basement but then as soon as we got signed and sht started rolling, it was a little adversity between Shady Records and Koch. I kind of got a bitter sweet relationship with them D12 dudes because I feel a lot of stuff has gotten sour between us in the midst of me & Proof doing what we were doing at that moment.”

22

Matic continued on with, “Some people didn’t want us to happen but I can’t hate on the people that rocks with me... Bizarre, he always rock with me but he ain’t even in the group no more. My Favorite artist to work with is my dude Royce, we did about 3 tracks together. While working with him, it was good chemistry... he work ethics as well as his perfection was on-point, he kind of remind me of myself. I’m also a perfertionist, he was very particular with his word selection and how he said it. Besides him, I also like working with Obie Trice, we did a lot of projects before he even got signed. They’re a little bit younger than me but you can tell they all have a piece of me and you can hear K-Stone’s influence. I brought the best of those guys out if you go back and listen to all those tracks. They spit on there, that’s what I like about Obie, he’s a raw spittah.” “The timeless moment that I remember is when Proof and I was in the basement and he told that this Promatic album is going to be a classic novelty. “Just watch and see history being made...” Proof said to Dog while in the studio. Eight years, people are still asking for the classic project from Dog & Proof. In conclusion, Dogmatic has seen the industry change within three decades; I think that Hip Hop is going back to basics when him bother and I put down when they was doing during their thing on the microphone together is what is emilated by the new upcomers. Hip Hop is like salt to the Earth, whatever you mixed with is Hip Hop is still going be a certain strain of the genre. The 80’s was dope but now you can say what you want. To the fans around the globe, this is one artist that cares about the kids developing into positive role models for the generations under them. Live from the Empire, Proof... Your legacy lives on forever bro... REST IN PEACE: DeShaun Dupree Holton (10/2/73 – 4/11/06)

Lyrik

Who would of ever thought that a hot mamacita from the DMV that resembles Left Eye, Chili and Aaliyah would be one of the most noticeable female entertainers that gives some of the top females a run for their money and talent. Born in Dante Moody (located inside of El Paso, Texas), Lyrik has a natural born gift of touching her fans. She didn’t discover her gift until she experienced intense conflicts in her personal life as a child with her family. From the bottom, Lyrik steadily climbed from losing her brother’s life; both suffering abuse, molestation all the way to mental turmoil; she is one artist that is not taking no for an answer. To cope with stress, she channeled her energy to becoming infatuated with poetry. Throughout her journey, She wrote over 400 poems in which many she turned into songs by the age 13. Raised in the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia), Lyrik experienced being incarcerated, homeless, and depressed; which like many artists, writing was her only outlet while music was her passion. When Lyrik first started to record, her first song was made at home by herself with no help using Sony’s premier recording software, Acid Pro and after that, it was a wrap for the industry. In the beginning of High School, he made songs and putting out CDs for her peer to enjoy. Afterwards, Stone Burke Recordings’ manager, Kermit Henderson, picked her up and she toured through states like Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Philly and Florida. Lyrik had a great opportunity to meet great artists such as: Method Man, Bizzy Bone, Tamara Scott, Monifah and Bone Crusher as well as DJ Kilo, Dj Skno, DJ Dimepiece, DJ Cocoa Chanelle, Dj G Spot, Core DJs, Kemp Kamp DJs and many more. Lyrik’s first stage name was Lonesome Thug Lady, which she released her first smash single “Down 4 Whatever” which made it to #4 on the Top Single Sales in the Billboard charts under the category of Pop. As time flew pass, Lyrik parted ways from Kermit due to personal conflicts and set out to take on the world by storm on her own. “ Loyalty over everything”, she stated… “and thats the one thing this industry does not have.” Soon after she reinvented herself, she changed her name to Lady Gunzz, but even that name brought much unnecessary controversy. Rather than searching for a deal, Lyrik created her own record label/ production company, Tic Toc Hustle Ent and Lyrik Productions. As Lady Lyrik emphasized the meaning of Tic Toc Hustle, she implied that every minute accounts for something. Mz. Lyrik’s main objective is to keep Hip Hop alive along with being the best lyrical Femcee that the world seen thus far. Since big things come in small packages, Lyrik has a lot to offer being a multi- talented musician with no limits and depths that gets deeper and deeper the older she matures in this Semi-Pros. Many might relate her looks to other great female entertainers but as far as her sound, nobody in particular has her unique qualities. Now Now residing in the Big Apple, Lyrik is leaving her legacy although five (5) boroughs of the NYC!

Hip Hop Makes Large Impact

In Latin Communities 28

I

n the streets of Queens comes a MC with especially for today with the youth in the streets, bars motivating the most powerful minds in in one way or another if we put more positive the world... THE CHILDREN! As a young messages out there. I’d think we can hit home dude growing up Robert Torres use to rhyme in cy- more, you know what I mean. It’s nice to have phers, which everyone used to say his delivery was the “Bling Bling” music or whatever everybody flavor... so in Spanish, flavor means “Sabor” and are into but we also gotta be contest that now of I added Latino because I’m latin so put it together days in society there are not a lot of jobs... there spelling out Sabor Latino. are not a lot of opportunities for the youth. To us What made me want to heal the world is that I was put on this earth to be a leader. My experiences as a social worker allowed me to see the state of emergency that this country is in when it comes to having leaders in our communities that will do what ever it takes to make a difference in society. I choose to motivate with my voice as I continues to make a chance in many community’s around the world with the help of the microphone.

as representatives of Hip Hop need to make a stand and be more conscious of what we saying because a lot of youths in the streets are listening and sometimes they use us as role models. They listen to us more than they listen to teachers, with that being said... I think more positive Hip Hop should be developed out there. I don’t want to mislead anybody, whatever they doing I respect what everybody is doing but as far as my opinion, a little bit more positive Hip Hop would be useful in the streets.

My Favorite album from back in the day was the 1st Naughty By Nature album. A classic masterpiece! So would you say that the artists are the movHip Hop Hooray still plays in my mind today. Treach ers and shakers of this world? flow was incredible. It was one of those happy Well I wouldn’t say that they’re 100% the movers songs with a crazy message and hot video too. but I would say that the artists has a big part of Now that was real hip hop back in the days.. what’s going on in society. We gotta remember

that when kids are listening, especially at a young Mala Rodriguez is in my CD player right now. This age, a lot of them learn through observations/ female artist got a lot of talent, I’m feeling her flow. listening. We got a lot of negative things going on in the streets with negative stuff and the kids are If I could bring back a Hip Hop legend into the listening to that. I’m not saying that all the kids are mainstream, it would be Big Pun. The impact he headed in that direction, but a lot of kids that know had on Hip Hop was incredible. He is definitely one no better will end up doing certain things. Not all of the best to ever touch a microphone. The reason the music has to be the blame for what’s happenbecause of his unique style and flow, something ing in society but I definitely believe us as poets that is missing in Hip Hop today. Smooth dude for and leaders in Hip Hop continue to bring that sure. R.I.P. positive message because we do play a big part in what happen in the world and in the streets. How you feelin about Hip Hop at dis current moA lot of people may know the history of Hip Hop ment? but when you really look at Hip Hop today... Hip I don’t want to single out anybody in Hip Hop, Hop has taken it to the next level, not only Latino because whatever they’re doing we gotta underHip Hop but Latino in general. You got Hip Hop in stand that Hip Hop is an art and everybody has Chile, you got Hip Hop in Ecuador, you got Hip their own kind of talent, directions of where they’re Hop in Barbados, you got Hip Hop everywhere headed and what they want to do with their project. in the world... So now it’s a very big movement! I I just feel personally that it’ll be more beneficial, would say yes, a lot that’s being said in Hip Hop affects the communities and society.

29

NAM: Its a universal language! SL: Exactly, that universal language... NAM: I think Hip Hop say more than money itself... but HEY, that’s just my opinion.

of the United States of America. When you put a project together, you never know what’s going to happen. Just getting the whole experience with recording and putting it out; when you see people listening to it or when you’re listening to it all you I see you just dropped a new album, how was it can say is wow I just made history man... Now I while workin on dat? have a voice in society and hopefully people are The name of the album is “Observations of My Life, going to keep following the positive messages that Vol. 1” and the reason why I named it that is because we got on the album. It’s a good project, and again it says it clearly, observations of my life, which is me a lot of youth are not doing what they suppose to so it was an incredible experience. I mean doing that be doing in society. Hopefully they can listen to my album was incredible once I put all my observations music and be like “You know what I want to be like together growing up in Jamai- Sabor Latino... I want to learn from my mistakes ca Queens, which is my neigh- in life” because nobody’s perfect. The thing about borhood. I seen a lot of things our mistakes is that we should learn from the misgoing in the other neighbortakes, you can make a mistake... we all make mishoods and the streets; people takes but learning from the mistake that you made getting arrested; so on and so is what makes you smarter and stronger. forth, I always believed and tried to find an outlet so what Since you dropped Observations of My Life and I did was write a lot of poems. the new video, what’s the next thing you got popWith my poems, I showed them to my teachers and pin off? they fell in love with it; they said “Wow... I love that 2 television channels: CH. 34 QPTV in New poem, it was so touching” so I put one & one together York... I did it over there with William Wolly, that and I was saying to myself you know what we can do show will be released next week which it’s going something with this; as time went on I started writing to start getting aired. I just did another one with and everything I saw my poems came to life so writing Dr. Valerie Gibson on QPTV Ch. 79, which will be was my escape. In high school, I also played basket- coming out in between the end of January to beball and that’s where a lot of people knew me from. ginning of February. We got that project going, and I loved basketball, but I had a bigger love for music I’m visiting churches right now trying to give that so to make the story short; I put the album together... positive message to the kids as well. Also I just finstarted kept writing and kept writing and went to colished writing “Observations of My Life Volume 2”, lege. I said to myself let me go to college to become which is currently being copyrighted as we speak a better writer and better student after all; so once I and the official music video for “Presidente” is out graduated from college with a Bachelors degree for right now. A lot of people are checking it out, it’s a psychology, I put the album together named it “Obpositive video too. Got a concert in March... This is servations of My Life” vol. 1. Assisted by JamBox what I’m doing! Entertainment: the big dog in Queens, Mr. Lee Evans, big time producer/ gold album award winner masWhat would you say would be the highlight of tered the album and engineered by R.E.A.P. Februyour career so far? ary 28th, 2013, Sabor Latino made history and was The highlight of my career so far... Well born into the Hip Hop world with the observations of putting out this album was a big thing; but I would my life. We sent the project out to CDBaby. CDBaby say the biggest would be on December 21th picked it up and independently we received distribuor 22nd, when Dr. Valerie Gibson invited me to tion worldwide now we’re doing this interview with Queens ministry and we did a big event for the you. It was an amazing experience being able to write kids where the community leaders, big chefs and something; and once I put it down on paper, I sent it priests got together; received a couple of funding out to get it copyrighted by the Library of Congress and what we did was set up a play. After the play

and gathering for the kids, we let them perform and do their own little thing. Some of them did jumping jacks or whatever that they did, it was a beautiful presentation. After everything was said and done, it was about 200 children and Sabor Latino gave back by giving away a copy of my album/ poster. That was the biggest highlight because by the way they was running up on me asking for my autograph and wanting to take a picture with me and their parents was the biggest thing in my career thus far. Just having the people & children (The Eyes, Ears & Voices of our Future) look up to you for that, being there with them laughing with them and them accepting me don’t nothing get better than that. Seeing those kids smile was priceless, I would always cherish that moment for the rest of my life. I think that was the biggest highlight besides the album release, interviews and everything else that been going on. NAM: I know that was one of the best moments and experiences to go through hearing and seeing them run up to you asking “Can I have your autograph?” SL: Yea... If you would of been there Vietnam, you would of been like “Wow... WHAT A LEGENDARY MOMENT!” I met the priests, the bishops and the kids getting their little gift, it wasn’t a lot... I’m not going to lie, it was like $3-4 but they covered 150-200 small children for Christmas. Sabor Latino, they got my picture and autograph... I mean do it get any bigger than that? It was really unbelievable and a humble experience. We’re going to the recreation centers and getting ready to go to the schools in February and if God willing the mental hospital to talk to the kids there but that’s the future.

6. Since you’re from Queens, what artists have you collaborated with? As far as of collaborations, I haven’t really collaborated with anyone yet. And again my name is still getting out there and I do Spanish Hip Hop, a lot of people from my hood and the place where I’m at just love to regular Hip Hop. There’s not a lot of Latino doing my thing. For my 2nd album, I’m going to talk to the elders with JamBox Entertainment and if something wants to do anything, we gonna so it positive. With the 2nd release, there are a lot of positive messages. If I see the dude is positive that really wants to do what I do then we’ll have something but later on during the future, we’re going to make that happen... I’m definitely going to drop a verse on it and show love. That’s what it’s all about, you know? NAM: RIGHT... That’s that love factor right there... 7. Where do you feel Hip Hop is headed in this new generation? I think Hip Hop is in the right direction, because we got to remember that Hip Hop is an universal language. There’s a lot of opportunities in Hip Hop... People don’t understand that. You can be a teacher in Hip Hop... you can be an author, a music producer, you can publish books. Hip Hop is big but as far as it’s going, I think it’s gonna take a big hit as far as in sales because of everything online is turning into digital. Once everything turns into digital then probably the A&R dude get cut and he’s not needed anymore... It will effect a lot of people as far as jobs. So I think where Hip Hop is in general, it’s in a big place especially Latin Hip Hop. Why take away from regular Hip Hop, Latino Hip Hop is huge. Like we were talking before, it’s everywhere: Chile, Ecuador, Puerto Rico... I think it’s pretty much in every Latin American country or beginning to grow in Lat. American countries. It’s even in China... Korea, ITS EVERYWHERE! It’s headed in the right direction but if we had more positive Hip Hop, I think it’ll be a bigger impact. A lot of people have realize the powers that a voice has. When you have a voice and it’s positive, people get really really listen to it. Especially, when you’re finding yourself in a situation and you can’t

(SABOR LATINO CONTINUED) then probably the A&R dude get cut and he’s not needed anymore... It will effect a lot of people as far as jobs. A lot of people have realize the powers that a voice has. When you have a voice and it’s positive, people get really really listen to it. Especially, when you’re finding yourself in a situation and you can’t understand it, you don’t want to hear anybody... but you want to listen to your positive Hip Hop artist because he has a positive message for you. To me that puts the icing on the cake. Overall I think Hip Hop is in a big place, it will remain evolving and spreading into bigger markets. It’s already in commercials, NBA... the music is everywhere. 8. What do you got to say to all your fans out there in the world? No. 1 - If you make mistakes in life, ask yourself what can we learn from them. No. 2 - If you have a chance to go to school, go to school. If you have an opportunity of getting some type of education or some kind of trade, then value that change. That’s very important. A lot of people don’t have a lot of opportunities. If you’re trying to do something then value that education because sometimes that’s the way out and another thing... Not everybody can be superstar dudes. Not everybody can be millionaires. Not everybody can be doctors and teachers but if you can be a good, humble person and you can motivate the people in your communities, household and family then you also can be leader in your own stadium. You don’t gotta be a big Hip Hop guy, you can be a leader. Last thing, value God if you can... Try to go to church every once in a while, read the Bible. Try to do positive things, hang out with positive people that can inspire you to be successful. If you’re not into certain things then don’t get involved with that because that isn’t for you. If you go to school then do stay in school, don’t try to be something you’re not. Always be yourself, shoot for the best... Never give up! One way or another in life, you’re always going to be successful and thank you for having me, it been a blessing. NAM: WORD SL: I’m not just doing this music, I’m also in the physical churches interacting with the people. Check me out, you can actually see me doing what I say on video. Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By being the general of Gunn Club Ent and title holder of being the “King of Broward”, Arigianl The General has proven to be one of the fastest rising MCs in the industry. Origanally from Brick City, AG was raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL. From his previous music video “God Save Ameica”, featured on his release “The Annex”, you will hear how hard he wants the crown in Hip-Hop. Every line that AG spits is like a needle injecting into the flesh, after breaking the foreskin. With his strageical bars, the listener can enjoy real lyricism as well as nice melodies to support the classic masterpieces that Ariginal provides throughout every track. Here’s an interesting fact about Ariginal is that he went to school with We The Best’s recording artist, Ace Hood. Before AG got locked up the first time, he was negoiating a record deal with Cash Money but it didn’t work as planned because of legal situations. Now since AG is a free man, he 6 mixtapes under belt including his recent release “They Fear What They Don’t Understand”. While working on his current project, he is totally focused on speaking truth throughout his music while uplifting others that is headed down the same di36

rection that he already came from. This is one MC that follows the laws that the forefathers of Hip Hop created. Previous seen on Vlad TV, ThisIs50.com, Artists & Repertoire Review Magazine and many more outlets; AG is absolutely the definition of what a Hip Hop general should be. If you haven’t heard this MC, well today is the day to do so. “Salute Me When You See Me”... - Ariginal The General 37

Ron G

64

Legendary DJ and music producer, Ron G shed light upon us sharing his experiences in the music industry. This classic DJ has been in people’s tape decks from decades. This DJ is known for being one of the first DJs to put late, great artists like: 2Pac, Biggie Smalls, Big L, Michael Jackson and many more on his mixtapes. There was this one timeless piece that Ron G put out called “Deadly Combination” with 2Pac and Big L on a track together. Later on, Biggie was added to the mix. Right now Ron G is still promoting upcoming talent with multiple radio shows, his extensive line of premier mixtapes. Ron started on the 1’s and 2’s when the DeeJay had to manually set the tempo of a vinyl LP. From all of the artists that he dealt with during the length of his career, his title best serves what he is about... The “MixKing”. For the ones that don’t really know who Ron G is, he is one of the very first DJs to blend and mix songs together on mixtapes. In an interview with Ron, he stated that when we lost Pac, Big and all the other great lyricists; the industry died a little with them and the new world music was created. This game hasn’t been the same without them. “It was a privilege to and a dream come true to work with all these great musicians, I’ve learn a lot while putting in work with the greatest of our culture” but too bad they could be here to see what Hip-Hop has involved into. “The records that I spun growin up was the Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Eric B & Rakim and many more legends. I love Hip Hop, it just needs more unity. My beginning was hard but I keep putting that work in and 8 5 my team stayed focus. Throughout the decades, Ron has seen that Hip Hop has became more original than sampling. The highlights of Ron G’s carreer were when he produced “ALL I HAVE” for Jennifer Lopez and 65

LL Cool J. She sold 5 million copies and when Tupac Shakur came to my studio in Harlem a& put some hot verses on my mixtapes. Not sure about where Hip Hop is headed in the upcoming generations, Ron continues to work diligently on new projects. To all the fans around the world, thank you for the years of support. By helping out the communities with my music, I give away CDs and tell the younger generations to stay in school, for the gift of knowledge and using brain matter to succeed is a terrible thing to waste.

Eat, Sleep, Live Trap

When you enter the south, you’ll hear the same ol’ materialistic sht that is considered as popular music aka POP with very little REAL HOOD sht going mainstream. In all reality, any music can be popular... It don’t matter if its singing, rapping or simply playing an instrument. Here is one artist that is striving to let his message be heard. Hitting hard in the industry while knocking haters out like a Silverback, Rhino is taking southern trap to a higher level... Str8 outta Carol City, the 1st in Command of PearlGang (FLORIDA division) is on his 3rd mixtape while attending school for Recording and Production on top of taking care of both of his parents that are unmobilized. We are honoring this artist for his hard work and dedication towards what he believes in. Not too many young brothers and sisters are able to recieve recognition for their greatness in this world. Keep up what you’re doing, if no one else sees you... At least God sees the good deeds that you are blessing the world with. To all of the young Empirians out there, stay focused and always strive to be and do the greatness with your powers. “Hustling doesn’t have to deal with drugs, for it can be anything that you want it to be...” - VDotNam 77

Trying to Maintain In Today's World

Fight For Survival

This war has been going on since the bibical days. Now its time to shed some light over the world, for I’ve noticed that a lot of people has been afraid to speak on this in-depth issue like this one before your eyes. Warning: The elements that you are about to perceive is only for the ones that feels strong about unity amongst nations. As civilians, we are the true victims of monarchic terrorism. Lets get it on.... The crime rate in Russia is 5x higher than the state of Ohio, which is crazy. Most people don’t

82

realize that this goes on everywhere that is under the sun. Even though the Hip-Hop scene isn’t all that popular, this just states that urban media isn’t one of those things that brainwashes the civilians that live in this location entirely. Blessings and prayer to the ones that have lost a love one during the struggles of survival. We must first stand together as spiritual beings, for that’s what the supreme father wants us to do. I’m not speaking as an individual that follows just only one religion, I’m actually speaking as a person of spirituality. The main purpose of life is to educate the unknowing of what’s really

going on. This kind of remind me of the opening scene in Belly! “Steady are you ready, hmmmm.... What’s goin on?” As havoc is occurring, we’re hearing this in the background. That should something that opens up our ears and the more we watch the events in this hood classic should opens up our eyes. Peep game, I feel that certain powers are the cause of people clashing against one another. The Pres of the States flew over to keep the peace, but a certain force caused the country not to renew the treaty. It isn’t our fault as civilians for this occurring, we’re just in the middle of who’s the next leader to take over the world. On top of that, i must state that race isn’t the issue, its all all about righteousness verses wickedness. All the wrong doing that the previous presidents of the greatest nation in the world took part of it caused many people (of all races) to suffer in depression, reccession & oppression. At this time, We got this elite-minded leader of multiculturial diversity in power trying to rebuild the home of the slaves while spreading knowledge to the youth and everytime they talk about him its negative. GET THAT SHT OUTTA HERE! The One (translated in many different languages: God, Allah, Buddah, Jahovah,...) puts us here on this planet to be free in mind, body and spiritual so why is the Illions* always trying to control everything that we do? It takes a village to change a nation(s). Stand Against “Lying To The Public” & Support The “Civilian Over Politics” (Operation: #CivilOPoli) Movement. PEACE 2 ALL UNDER THE LIGHT, Salute...

Wha

What Type Of World

Are We

Livin In? Just imagine a world with everybody in it being cannibals using deception and envy to obtain the mind of the masses... Sounds crazy, huh? In other realms that happen, just be blessed that you don’t have to go through the wicked turmoil. It was written that life will be worse than what it is if we don’t do anything about it. Right now, there are family members that can be worse than your enemy, so its must that one shall keep their guards up at all times. From listening to all that money talk on the airwave frequencies, people are going to get mad because all they’re hearing is a person talking down on them. Yet, they are use to abuse so they yern more for it while saying “Man, I can’t deal with this no more...” or “I can’t stand him, I’m gon...” not even attemping to move. On the streets, broke people are getting robbed and killed. What type of stuff is that? The ones with the money ain’t even seen. America is suppose to be a melting pot with many different ethnic groups. Just because the color of a person and/ or faith is different does not make them a bad person. There is greatness in everyone. Big businesses was not making a lot when segration was going on, let’s learn from this situation. If we all come together (Black, White, Asia, Indian, Hindu, Arabic & All Other Nationalities), money will not be an issue and our children will be able to live in solitude!

SaveOurKidz

The Fight For Trayvon Continues...

Evil lives through the “S”. The Serpent caused brother to be against thy brother, child against thy parent, parent against child and many other combinations but we must not fall into pits of illiteracy. To most, It really don’t make any since how people can be so evil towards someone of different ethnicity but it does to the older generations before us and R3AL Ni33as (Never ignorrant, getting goals accomplished soldiers). Children are children, either if they’re black, white, red, yellow or rainbow colored. Its not a race issue these days, its the stupidity and indoctrination that’s killing all of our kids. Here’s a moment of clarity, they take away afterschool programs from our urban communities then say they had to do it because of the lack of finances. You and I know that the money from the state lotteries are supposed to handle school funding. So let’s start asking... “Where the money at?”. In all actuality, the middle case aka the working case paid their taxes just so their kids can attend school safely without any discrepancies. The only thing that cutting programs off foe the children does is leave them in the wicked, cold streets quickly to be labeled as “Suspects”. I was just watching a television news broadcast last night and heard this uncivilized woman say that the murder of Trayvon Martin was a Man on Ape crime. GET THAT SHT OUTTA HERE! But after the crimes on one of America’s Vietnam War Vets and the young Venisulian boy that played baseball occurred, they wanted to justify that with an book-worm reason. Are you for real? I agree that those events were crimes as well... YES! but I will not sit and tolerate the injustice of a black on

84

white crime being more dangerous than a white on black crime. A crime is a crime #udumbazz, they teach that in school but I guess she wasn’t in class when they was talking about that subject, huh???? She was probably cheating on tests and getting her homework done by her programmers like many other brainless dependents of the decepticons in the major media industry. Not everyone in the media is bad, it’s just those certain ones that uses Alister Crowley and his followers’ methods of teaching to get over on people. It should be a crime for misguiding the upcoming future leaders before they’re even born. OMG... It was funny how that uncivilized gopper* got up there on national television and said they’re killing their own (black-onblack crime), which is/was the plan from the beginning. Neither did she know that black isnt a race, it is the forever growing

multi-diversed masses all around the world. Its her own stupidity that makes that vulgar statement reunite the real against the fake. Think about it, Segregation in the states happened after the partial genocide of the Native tribes and the deception/ mind control of the Asiatic strayers that put their own into the American Slave Trade. Wait it goes deeper that that... Throughout those times up to yesterday, the deceivers had both the Africans living in America and the Africans still living in the motherland thinking that they

were different from one another. The only difference from the two are that “They’re in different areas of the world” but the thing that makes them similar is that they both experience the pain/ torture from mankind’s most wicked creation. Just because a person got a degree, don’t mean that they have street knowledge “Common Sense”. From the LIManual... “Quit trying be somebody’s master, for you can never master the art”. If it wasn’t for the Asiatic* masses that were deceived, US would not have homes to live in, buildings to conduct business in, transportation period and a lot of other glorious items we use on the daily. To the opposers: Watch what you say, for it says blatantly in the Holy Scriptures that the tongue has the ability to cut shape as a sword... “But knowledge can overpower any weapon man ever created”. I’m sorry but people like that makes their own kind look like savages on the contrary. We must stand together to keep our kids off the streets and wrongful elements away from the entrance of thy brain. NOW TAKE THAT TO THE PRESS!!!! The “N” word has gotten old, for the minorities in the states have experienced worse elements than that like unemployment, racial-profiling, natural disasters, injustice, inequality, physical & mental trauma and many more negative forces thrown at them. Even throughout those obstacles, Maya Angelo said it the best... “Still I Rise”. Let’s take a moment to teach our children that they are as great as the ones that is in power. “As long as we don’t educate, we will always remain in the same position that we were in yesterday” -V Dot Nam. Definitions *Asiatic (def.) - the first form of human life after the 2nd creation of the world, which conquered the lands considered as Africa, Asia and Europe “The Caves” (including Italy, France, Spain and many more civilizations) during King Hannibal’s reign. Real things are happening in the streets and all you head is the same stuff that was already said over 50 years ago but lyrically in different slang term and phrases. “I remember when boys was getting locked up for the content that they put in their music”, told by an OG. Now Hip Hop has gone out of control... Disrespecting heros/ legends, putting people in that don’t even care about the culture just the money, turning our women into “Marilyn Monroe” sex slaves and many more offensive tactics to corrupt the “URBAN’s” chance of survival. Music is the only thing most people have in their life. While other cats are braggin, I’ll rather listen to a person that I can relate to. See that person that you relate to’s music can get you through the worse of worse situations. 85

There are not enough women that get credit in this world for doing great things; so we are highlighting this successful business enterprenuer and her great accomplishments. As a CEO of a cancer foundation center, Ms. Tiffany Allen has a forever ending legacy to be told. As a mother, her greatest talents are doing music and being a very resourceful person, talking, tutoring and coaching. We asked her “What music you prefer listening to while working?” and she responded back with Electronica, a music genre time, she had a all girl group thats a mixture of Hip-Hop and they entered a talent and R&B without words, simi- showcase for her school and lar but unlike EDM; Jazz & then she realized that she has Soft Rock. When Tiffany first a voice. “We couldn’t of been got inspiraed by music, she like Destiny’s Child before they was in the 7th grade. At that existed. As we got older, we all went our certain ways. Tiff’s focus was school, which she has a strong passion to be a doctor. She attended a Medical High School in Los Angeles, California, which the amount of African Americans were 30%. “Nursing, medicine and being a doctor was our curriculum so we didn’t have time

for anything else. We didn’t even have a football team, even though I played Volleyball. That guided me so I would stay on top of my grades. Because you can’t play sports if you don’t.” In college, she attended HBU and received a vollyball scholarship to Alabama State, which the multiplatinum rap star, 2 Chains, attended as well. I stayed bumping music in my car, it helped me to center myself in this world. Ms. Allen life changed when she had her son, got married and lost her close cousin in 2010 while still in medical school. Tiffany always looked up to her cousin, Varnette P. Honeywood, which as important to society. When she was young, she didn’t really how influential her cousin was... but later on, Tiff realized the impact she had on th world. Varnette was the artist that created the cartoon “Little Bill”, the wall paintings on the Cosby Show and many more popular shows in the 80’s (Golden Girls, 227, etc.). With friends with major celebrity status, Varnette was taking a liking by Bill Cosby, Quincy Jones and many more... She changed art for African Americans along with Ernie Burns. After her lost, she dedicated everything that she do to Varnette and created a foundation that helps people with the medical ailment that cousin passed away from. Ms. Tiff has a family of college educators, which she has 3 aunts that are college professors; a mother that taught/

coached at Jaskson State and father with an Associates Degree. Graduating with Honors, she received support from her family emotionally, socially and financially. She knew that she had to get her education if she wanted to live with little worries. As she looked over her cousin’s legacy, she did research on creating a nonprofit organization, handling all of the paperwork mixing the medical field with the arts. With all of the knowledge perceived from medical school, she was able to apply her teaching to her career. Recently, Tiffany does workshops and has a radio show to spread the awareness of reproductional health as well as being an art dealer and talent manager. You see with your own eyes now, that a woman does not have to give herself up to be a success!

Benn Plattnum, a soulja str8 outta the Set4Life Family...is one artist thats droppin heat from the Northside of Corpus Christi. Gang life and crimes were an early influence on him as well as having his 1st child at 14 years old. The streets taught him a lot rather than school, but everything came to a stand still when his brother was killed in a shootout Summer 2000. Following after that event, his father was sentenced to life in prison for murder. PLA decided it was time to break the cycle, for he visually perceptived too many family members & friends get locked up or killed. If didn’t, he knew he would

PLA

of been the next soulja from his village doing state/ federal time or even found dead. The year after, he moved to Autin and started his music career as an recording artist with Shock Records in a group called the “Shock Boyz”. A few minutes and hours passed then bounced back, creating his own company ‘Madd Bomba Entertainment’; Booking/ Promoting concerts althrough Austin & Corpus Christi with Juvenile, Slim Thug, & Chamillionaire and more. Soon after he dropped a solo release entitled “UndagrounHeat”, then stopped music for a while when found out his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. While 100

helping his moms through her recovery from the cancer & surgery, Benn linked up with one of his homies from back in the day, Will Hustle, in 2004. As Benn & Will puts heavy grinding in, Will Hustle TV series & Will Hustle Multimedia finally was ready to wreck shop throughout the state of Texas.. After being successful in that field of business, he started to focus on his first love “Music” again so he got back in the studio, droppin’ hit after hit record! In the past couple years, PLA dropped 2 albums, mixtapes galore and various features on other artist’s projects.

Besides having a catalog of mixtapes in circulation, Benn has been featured in every magazine from The Source to Ozone. His style of hustlematics is unlike any other... Destroying the mic with his hard delivery & a gangsta demeanor it’s a wonder how P keep it G as well as manages to still obtain his composure. PLA is more than your average rapper, he’s a brand made in Texas. You ain’t find another from the Lone Star State like this one!
