The City of Wyoming seeks a Utility Plant Operator I / Treatment Plant Trainee to monitor and operate the City’s Clean Water Plant, its municipally owned and operated wastewater treatment plant. The ideal candidate will possess an associate degree in a water technology or related field and demonstrate knowledge of modern wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance practices. A State of Michigan class D certification or higher in wastewater treatment operations is required to start at the Operator I pay scale. A lower level license is desired to start at the Operator Trainee level but it is not required. The ability to work both in a team and with minimum supervision is a must. The Clean Water Plant is a 24 MGD activated sludge bio-P plant serving Wyoming and other communities.

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for seasonal maintenance staff to maintain City parks that are loved by the Wyoming community. Employees in these positions play an important role in park maintenance – mowing, preparing ball fields, greeting park patrons, and other valuable work maintaining high quality City parks. Seasonal employees may also have the opportunity to work special events, such as Concerts in the Park and other festivals and gatherings.

Applicants must possess the ability to work at a plant of this scale and in a constantly changing environment. Problem solving and communication skills are a must. The treatment facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with current shifts covering 9.5 hours per day, 38 hours per week. This is a full time position with a full benefit package. Operator I wage range: $44,183 - $54,538. Treatment Plant Trainee wage range: $39,639 - $49,044.

The City of Wyoming has 21 parks and almost 700 acres of parkland that are outstanding and are well used by our community. These parks include splash pads, nature preserves, ponds, baseball and soccer fields, playgrounds, pickle ball courts, and much more. Hours and availability for the position are flexible and dependent upon applicants’ availability. Normal schedules for the position are from 7AM – 5PM and 12PM – 10 PM, Monday through Sunday. Applicants hired into the position may work up to 38 hours per week for a maximum 25 weeks, though flexible schedules are available.
