FASHION SHOW Marketing & promotional Strategy
The City Of Liverpool College is hosting a end of year fashion show at the Isla Gladstone. The event will showcase a variety of students collections, from all years, as well as students work for the guests. For the fashion we will work as a fashion marketing team to plan the location, promotional material such as tickets, flyers, posters etc.
Product// In the show I thought having interactive props would be really fun and sociable. The props could be customised lips, eyes, sunglasses etc. This would benefit the show as people would get selfies and post on social media such as Instagram promoting the fashion show. To provide for the guests and keep them entertained preshow/after a candyfloss machine would be placed for everyone to use and make their own candyfloss. As well as this a candy cart would be next to the other machine, this is for children to use to make their own pick n mix (more suitable as it won’t get as untidy). Outside the location of the fashion show there is a circular stand which I thought would be useful to have mannequins showcased in students garments/accessories for guest to view before entering the show. This is possible to do depending on the weather of the day as it is not always predictable. \\Price The price of the fashion show ticket for entry is £5. The first fashion show of the second day (2pm) has been decided to be a free screening. Drinks and small snacks will be free of charge during (or before) the show however the café will provide hot & cold meals with a small fee. We plan to get local brands/shops to sponsor the fashion show, such as Matalan and Abakan as they have previously provided materials and gifts to help pay for the location and show etc.
People \\ For hair & make-up on the models we will use college students that have been studying/practicing that profession, this will allow the students to build up their experience and portfolio work (on a placement). We would have to cater for the family members that would be arriving; parents, younger and older siblings, grandparents. Since last years fashion show we found that children were turning up restless and un-entertained, therefore we will provide a small children's play area with access to colouring books, paints, toys and goodie bags. In the show their will also have to be security which will be on the doors to allow access to people, also they will be expected to walk around the premises to ensure everything is running smoothly. For the show we will have to arrange for a DJ and a sound engineer to make the overall event fun and entertaining for the guests.
Process// The layout the fashion show is very important as we want it to be professional yet creative. The main catwalk stage will be placed in the centre of the building for it to be clear for everyone to view from a far. Around the catwalk their will be rows of comfortable chairs for everyone to be able to see the collections. We will have to transport all of the garments and props a few days before the show to be able to set everything up and make sure it runs smoothly. Setting everything up a few days before ensures that we will not forget anything on the day of the show. We have to make sure backstage is completely blocked off and covered as the whole building is glass, we have to create time slots for order of changing times. All of the different years collections have to be shown in the show we cannot forgot to show any. The behaviour of all staff and students is essential as we are representing the college and work to our guests and we don’t want to make a bad reputation. Health and safety checks must be ran throughout to guarantee the show can go threw on the day.
Promotion// After researching fashion show names and ideas we decided the call the show ‘The Attire’. We came up with this name as the definition of attire is “clothes, especially fine or formal ones” this fits in perfect with what a fashion show is all about. For the tickets we viewed our classes illustrations and chosen the one that would fit with the format/text of the ticket. We changed the colour of the illustration for each day and time of the show to make it easier to tell apart when selling the tickets. Physical Environment// To make sure there is a changing area that is private, toilet access for guest as well as disabled access. Clear directions and signs are clearly shown to the building and entrance. Bar must be stocked with a variety of refreshments served by pleasant staff. Security has to be throughout the building and outside to make sure the environment is safe for everyone. Parking access for guests has to be available and close to the building. DJ and sound engineer has to be available to make sure the correct song is played to the specific collection. The location has to be clean, tidy and organised for guests arrival in addition to after the fashion show. The location is completely glass therefore the amount of people that show will make the environment warm so aircon and fans must be turned on.
