I’ve been tattooing for almost 4 years now. I work in Columbus Oh, at 22 Caliber Tattoo's, located at 2594 Hilliard Rome Rd. I specialize in new school and floral work but I always love a good challenge. I grew up moving around a lot and as a result I was never able to make a sold friend group so at a young age I made art my life. I’ve known ever since I was about 14years old that I wanted to be a tattoo artist. I remember how mysterious the whole concept of tattooing was to me but I knew I had to be a part of its culture. In the following years I did everything I could to prepare myself to follow this career and as a result I've committed my
entire life to it. There’s just something about how happy a new piece of art can make a person that fuels my passion. I’ve always worked for my clients, never myself; and I believe that it separates me from a lot of artists in the sense that it consistently keeps me learning and growing. To rest is to rust and I’ve put myself and my life in a position where I must create, or die, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Nothing ventured, nothing Gained! written by: Elaine Bowman
to have more, yes, there is always room for more! I am Riley…..commercial actor, piercing artist, model, animal lover, traveler, sapiophile and generally all around good sport. I received my first tattoo at the tender age of 14, unbeknownst to my mother. A very good friend took me to get it, but unfortunately the finished product looked more like Michael Jackson playing baseball, which was not the intention whatsoever. At that point in time, I learned that it was probably in my best interest to wait until I was of legal age for additional body art. By the time I was 18, my first legal tattoo was completed in London and is on the inside of my lower lip. Piercing has always been my passion. I always knew what I wanted to do and pursued that dream. Modeling is a close second and because I enjoy modeling, it reinforces what I love. From my days of acting, I’ve always been comfortable in front of the camera. Although I have only modeled for a few years I enjoy what I’m doing, when I’m doing it. I was raised in Virginia and grew up living in the same house my entire life. There came a day when my soul was in search of something new. I always loved the ideas of palm trees and lizards and it wasn’t long before Florida was calling my name. Contrary to popular belief, most people usually compliment my tattoos. Sure, there are those who don’t care for it, and to those who remark negatively about them, I always just smile sweetly and remind them that “what I put on my sandwich doesn't make their sandwich taste any differently.” If I’m asked if I’m planning
I find people’s brains to be quite attractive; followed by heart and instinct. Physically, nothing beats a genuine smile! I would love to learn more about Anatomy and Psychology and oh yes, technology since today’s world is basically all that. On a deeper level, three people I admire most are Einstein, Shakespeare and my daddy. I would love to have dinner with all three, just to pick their brains. Imagine if you will, dinner with an artist, an intellect, and an altruistic! I’ve been asked where I would like the most to do a photo shoot. My answer to that is Glacier National Park followed very closely by South America. Where would I see myself 30 years from now? I try to focus on the here and now, enjoying what I’m doing and not thinking about what could be. Am I missing anything in life? Not really except maybe a bigger bed with more room for more dogs! If I must answer where I would like to be in 30 years, I would have to say traveling around the world and surrounded by animals. i believe the biggest mistake made by people, is comparing the life they have to the life they wish they had; instead, I think we just need to enjoy where we are and choose paths as they come. I live by my favorite quote and leave you with this: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”. Riley

Photographer: Marcy Harris-Ortiz Model: Maegan Carney
Brand Spotlight: Maegan Carney By Shannon Harris
Even with today’s greater acceptance of the plus size form, it still seems to become a challenge to break into the world of modeling as a plus size. One gal who doesn’t seem to have that trouble is Maegan Carney, who is breaking boundaries and taking no prisoners. What sets Maegan apart is her drive to support other plus sized women and their goals. Outside of modeling, she continues her inspirational work through her company Pearls & Roses, a T-shirt company with inspirational, yet comedic t-shirts that sell for the same price no matter the size. Pearls and Roses T-shirts are an inspiration to those who may find themselves on the heavier end of the scale, all while knowing they are fabulous and worthy. From supportive phrases like, “I compete with no one” and “Dear self, own it” to funny ones like “This is my ‘I don’t have time for laundry and everything is dirty’ T-Shirt” and “No Need for a Caption,” Maegan’s line shows the resilience she has built up and asks others to join her. So, who is Maegan Carney, the amazing plus-sized model? She is an advocate, a designer, a family-oriented woman who creates goals and goes after them. She works hard for herself, her family, and the women she drives to support through her designing, modeling, and her own physical fitness.
Maegan’s Bio: Beauty is not about waistline. This gorgeous plus sized Lifestyle and Fashion model has already proven through success and publications that she is an inspiration. She continues to help others understand self-love and not feel stifled by dress size. One of the many things that make Maegan unique is her perspective. Most models will never understand what designers go through creating the wardrobes that they are modeling. As the designer behind Pearls & Roses, Maegan is in a unique position to understand the creative process behind the scenes. Maegan currently resides in Findlay, Ohio but does travel for her modeling career and looks forward to traveling more. She enjoys many styles of modeling including fashion editorials, hair & makeup fashion, beauty photoshoots, glamor lingerie, lifestyle & commercial modeling, and themed photoshoots. Family is the most important thing in the world to this beauty. When not working on designs or modeling, you will find her spending time with them. She also likes to work out with a personal trainer to maintain her health and fitness goals. Maegan is dedicated, creative, and has tremendous drive. She has a lengthy career ahead of her and will continue to motivate young women everywhere to love their bodies and encourage them to go after their dreams.
course, as I got a little older I was told I would never be a model, ‘I was too overweight’, ‘I was too short’ (She stands at 5’ 6”), the normal stuff. I struggled with depression and eating disorders throughout high school and into my collage years. I have hated my body for as long as I can remember, until about a year and a half ago. I got the courage to leave my husband of two years after he cheated. This was hard for me because like I said I struggled with myself a lot and what he did just made it worse. It made me question myself as a woman, and I was at my lowest. After I left, I slowly began to pick up the pieces. I started loving myself and surprisingly even after gaining 40 lbs. I love myself today more than I ever have. I love every roll. It took me a long time to get where I am today and after I started loving myself it opened so many doors for me. It was then when I realized modeling wouldn’t “fix” me nor did I want it to. I wanted to change modeling. I was able to walk in a fashion show that Victoria Henley had, and I have been published in multiple magazines. I have had the opportunity to walk in a charity fashion show out of state, and I have met some of the most supportive people. My hope and dream is to be able to inspire women, young and old to love their self no matter what society tells us. If I could reach one woman it would make this whole journey worth it. It breaks my heart when I think of myself before I loved myself. It breaks my heart to think my little sisters won’t love themselves just because society tells us it’s wrong. I am determined to create a movement and face society head on with a group of boss babes that love their self no matter what and change the way society looks at women.
What are your fitness and healthy eating routines? I try to go to the gym as often as I can. I’ve actually lost 20 lbs. since January. My boyfriend helps me with workout plans, and he goes with me to the gym to help out. I’ve been tracking my macros instead of fad diets because they never work for me I just end up binge eating. I’m not strict on myself. I eat what I want and if I don’t feel like going to the gym I don’t. I’m slowly trying to make it into a lifestyle instead of just a phase. Why did you want to become a plus size model? How did you do it?
Of the types of modeling you do, what is your all-time favorite? Why? My favorite would have to be high fashion. I just love pushing the limits of fashion. What advice would you give to someone interested in becoming a model like you? Go for it. Don’t listen to anybody telling you that you can’t. Always follow your dreams no matter what they may be.
I have always dreamed of being a model for as long as I can remember. I think when I was younger I thought it would “fix” me. All the girls in the magazines seemed perfect, great bodies, great hair, just a great life in general. Growing up I was very shy and self-conscious about myself, my looks, and my weight. Of

What would you say to someone who struggles to find her own beauty? Society is going to tell you that you shouldn’t love yourself, but I’m hear to tell you that society doesn’t even matter. When you let go and focus on yourself and loving yourself everything changes. It’s scary to say hey you know what I don’t care what anyone thinks I love me but it is so worth it. Just let go and love. Tell me more about Pearls & Roses. I started pearls and roses a couple months ago. I wanted a T-shirt brand that expressed the way I feel inside about society. Pearls and Roses was named after my two late grandmothers who are very near to my heart and still to this day inspire me with everything I do. My passion is people. I have always felt like I was meant to do more like I had a purpose in this world, and I strongly believe that purpose is helping people love themselves and helping people realize that society does not matter, that nothing else matters but the way you feel about yourself. So, in a nut shell that is what Pearls and Roses is all about. Fashion is a statement and that statement can be whatever you want it to be, our statement is screw society and love yourself. I have set prices for my T-shirts and no matter what size you order the prices do not go up, women shouldn’t have to be ashamed or even punished just because we have more to love. We have been featured on jtv with Victoria Henley and have also been showcased at a fashion show in Louisiana that Victoria Henley had. The hashtag for my brand is #mayweslayeveryday, and I chose this even before I launched it has so much meaning to me. What is the story behind your hashtag, #mayweslayeveryday? I first used the hashtag #mayweslayeveryday in a rant I posted on Facebook about a gym that had ‘Santa might look good with a belly, but you don’t’ on their billboard. I have used it ever since, and it is now in the logo for my T-shirt brand Pearls and Roses. I love it because it doesn’t say who can slay it just says WE as in all human beings can slay EVERYDAY no matter what. Do you plan to expand the offerings on Pearls & Roses?
Who are some of your inspirations? I have many inspirations, famous and the ones near to my heart; the ones famous to me. My biggest inspiration are the strong women that helped raise me. I was blessed with a mom who is also my best friend, and she is definitely my rock. My two late grandmothers inspire me in everything I do, and I have a crew of aunts behind me at all times inspiring me as well. My top two famous inspirations are Tess Holliday, who is also from Mississippi, and Ashley Graham. They both changed the modeling game, and I have just had a girl crush on both of them for the longest. What did you do to break yourself of your self-hatred? I was tired. I struggled so long with my image. It was very unhealthy and not a life that anyone would want. I finally just let go. I got out of an emotionally abusive relationship where everything was my fault, where I was told I was crazy on a daily basis, and where I was told if I gained weight he would leave. I was heartbroken to say the least. I finally just let go. I tried some different looks one including a fake septum piercing. I will never forget the first time I wore a crop top in public. I felt so free and that was the start of my self-love journey that was when I decided I loved me, and I was going to do what made me feel good. This interview is for our INKED edition, so we know you have tattoos. Any special meaning behind them? Can you tell us about it? My first tattoo, the one on the outside of my wrist, was a symbol of hope for me. I have struggled with depression for a long time, and the meaning for the arrow is that an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backwards so when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it’s just going to launch you into something great. I got the word hope written in it to remind me that there is always hope. My second tattoo, the one on my forearm, is French for ‘that’s life, ’ and the lotus stands for new beginnings. I got this tattoo two months after my separation on what was supposed to be our two year wedding anniversary. So, for me this tattoo just reminds me that life happens, but we can always stand back up and start over.
Yes, in the future I hope to have body dresses and crop tops.
19
Looking back at your past, do you regret those moments of self-hatred, or do you see them as an asset to your current platform? If so, how so? I don’t regret anything per say. I am at a place in my life now where I am surrounded by people who love me and am making a way to help people, so they don’t go through what I did. I know if I didn’t go through all of it I wouldn’t be at this place today. So, no, I don’t regret it. I just hope to be able use my story as an inspiration for other people. Where do you like to shop? Rue 21 is, has been, and will always be my #1 store. A lot of people will tell you I have a problem, but I just love it so much. Over half of my closet is rue 21, and I hope to model for them one day. I also love Torrid for my intimates. What are some of your must haves for clothes, accessories, and make up? My must have for clothes would be crop tops. You’ll see me in crop tops all year long. I don’t really wear a lot of accessories, but I never take off my sparkly Michael Kors necklace my sweet boyfriend got me. It goes with everything and just adds a little touch of sparkle. Makeup must have is a tough one since I love all things makeup, but I would say eyeliner and lipstick. Those two things can change any look from princess to queen in a minute. Do you have any upcoming big projects you'd like to tell us about? I have a couple of ideas rolling around in this brain of mine, and you can add me on Instagram to keep up to date with this crazy adventure.

As you can see, this bombshell is on a roll. When interviewing her, the conversation was real, down to earth, and like talking to a girl friend. She really is super supportive of others. I can’t wait to see what she is up to next, and neither should you!

To Tattoo or Not to Tattoo By: Stephanie Rice
Sacred Cultural Beliefs Vs. Tattoos Personal Values Vs. Tattoos Tattoos are such a hot topic these days. It’s almost normal to have tattoos rather than not having any. I came from a very ‘traditional’ white family. Goals were set at a young age. Right off the bat there were to be no relationships until a reasonable age, no kissing, no sex, no piercings, and heaven forbid, no tattoos. Thankfully most of these requirements didn’t matter at a certain time, except for tattoos. The exact threat was, “If you get a tattoo, we will disown you.” Meanwhile, other family members gave me warnings like “They are so unflattering on women,” or “You’ll regret them when you’re older.”
The design is the most important. Is it going to be a phrase or a bird? Will it be large or small? Is it important to you, or is it just some design a stranger had and you really liked it so you got the same one too? There are so many aspects to consider before getting one. A symbol from a specific Native American tribe, let alone any tribes, and it could come across offensive if you have one but aren’t even from that tribe. Each design from any tribe is important to them, while others just snatch the design and slap it on their back without truly treasuring the art or symbol. Symbolic tattoos aren’t just limited to the Native Americans either. Samoans have diverse tattoos amongst the men and women. The men usually having large symmetric shapes located from the waist up, while the women wear more delicate designs over their thighs. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson proudly wears his Polynesian tattoo, linking it to his Samoan roots. Even his animated counterpart, Maui, wears similar tattoos in Disney’s Moana, each tattoo explaining a different story of Maui’s life. Celtic warriors were the ones who adored the many Celtic symbols we see today. Most symbols were worn to scare their enemies, while Celtic animals were believed to ward off evil and protect warriors from harm. Similar to the Polynesian, as well as tattoo fans today, the Celtics would mark themselves with tattoos to show their strength. Most importantly, it showed others who they were and where their roots hailed from.
The thing is, growing up was difficult with the luxury of having access to shows like Smallville, Charmed, or even Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The shows weren’t bad to watch for a child. Far from it, actually they were brilliant! However, much to my parents’ dismay, most of the characters would appear with a tattoo, most of them being female. Usually they were confident, sexy, and empowering, and I wanted tattoos just like them. The sister witches from Charmed all had at least one tattoo that represented them individually. They were also so beautiful, and people loved these actresses, so why couldn’t I have a tattoo just like them? I thought getting a tattoo based off of these shows or movies was a wonderful idea. I thought it would make me feel like a strong, independent woman, and be cool. Being cool was so important Expense and Authenticity Vs. Tattoos when you were ten years old. I never thought about it then, but now, looking back, perhaps the real reason I wanted to have a tattoo was simply because everyone else had one. I wanted to be cool just like everyone else. Celebrities, models, designers, even your neighbor or best friend had a tattoo. Only now have I realized that if you really want a tattoo, there should be more thought put into the decision of getting one, to make sure it’s the perfect one for you.
22
Where you go to receive your tattoo is important too. Some tattoos may be cheaper at one tattoo parlor, while another may be more expensive, but the design comes out extraordinary. You want to get your money’s worth, but you also don’t want some stick figure tattoo after asking for two koi fish swimming around cherry blossoms. The disappointment would just be too awful to bear. There are even parlors that trick customers with Chinese ‘letters’.
They may claim one symbol means ‘love’, but even the owner or artist may not know it actually means ‘chicken’. Tattoos can turn into a laughing stock without you really knowing. Doing your research about parlors in your area, or maybe even other areas is a big help. Located in Winter Springs, Florida, Still Quill Tattoo focuses on cleanliness and are simply ‘artists’, not classified strictly as tattoo artists. They have a range of work such as cover-ups as well custom designs. If you’re looking for something a little different, perhaps receiving a ‘soul tattoo’ would be up your alley. Soul Tattoo Artist, Ashley Glynn, also known as Wadulisi Woman uses her psychic gifts to channel your divine symbol and transfers it into a tattoo. Before she begins tattooing by hand, she prepares your body and mind to receive the tattoo, as well as lessen the pain of the tattoo. A session like this would be on the larger side of the price range, but if you feel more connected to a spiritual session maybe it’s the best path to take.
deemed ‘unprofessional’ to parents or even businesses, but why? Sure, a Playboy bunny stamp would more than likely be unfit, but a tattoo representing a fallen friend, or a Celtic knot shared amongst family members should not be apart of that same level.
Pain Vs. Tattoos There’s only one more concern people don’t think about until they’re getting their tattoo done, the pain. If you get a tattoo on your bicep or thigh, the tattoo might not hurt as much. Now if you get a tattoo on your ankle, wrist, finger, just about any spot where the needle practically meets the bone, it’s going to hurt, unless you have an incredibly high pain tolerance.
My Decision Vs. Tattoos
I want to take my time deciding on my first tattoo. The fear of my family despising me for it is a huge factor as well as holdback for me. I also want to be sure it’s something I really want to Workplace Vs. Tattoos do, not just because other people are doing it. I’d also like the design to resemble something While tattoo sleeves are so complex, of my heritage, perhaps an Irish knot for my Irish different, and intriguing, not every company ancestors, but there is always time to decide. accepts them, especially dealing with customer Getting a tattoo should not be a spur of the service. It’s really only unique jobs such as moment ordeal. fashion designing that one could have as many tattoos as they wish. While jobs like working in a theme park will write you up or even fire you without warning for just getting a new tattoo. After all, I’ve always heard once you get one, you’ll want another. It’s not even fair when such measures are taken when a tattoo could simply be covered up with a watch, sleeves, or even make-up. In high school you may get a tattoo with meeting the age requirement or having the consent of parents, but the minute you graduate the freedom is over. Any tattoos visible are

Inside the Artist Creative Mind: Colby Caine
Colby, tell us a little about yourself, where did you grow up?
honestly I don’t like to label it as I fear restricting myself. But those who like it, love it.
I spent my teenage years in Kirtland, New Mexico.
You are most known for your grunge style photography; how did you perfect your style?
When did you first start your career into Photography?
Time and effort, I knew from the beginning how I wanted things to look but I hadn’t the knowledge to make it happen during the shoot or how to edit in post, but with help from a lot of YouTube videos in Lightroom and Photoshop I finally figured out how to make exactly what I see come to fruition.
Back in the fall of 2015 I had a friend/ bandmate ask me if I could take some photos for her with a cellphone because she wanted to get into modeling, before that happened I had never had an interest in photography, but fast forward about 6 months, I bought a camera and it all snowballed from word of mouth into what How did you get into photographing Inked Models? it is now. I guess like myself I’ve always been one for getting What Genre of Photography do you classified your tattoos and being outside the “norm”, so I’d say it was style? only natural.

You just relocated, how is that going? It’s been 4 months, I felt it was a smooth transition, after traveling the past few years I had been here (Phoenix, AZ) for bike week last year and I knew I wanted to relocate “home base” if you will. So I saved up for a few months and made it happen. What is in your camera bag? My camera - Canon 6D Mark II, My Lens’ - 50mm f/1.8 STM, 18-55mm f/3.5 and a super wide angle lens attachment, A lens pen, lens wipes, microfiber cloth, dust blower, an extra battery and Battery Charger. What gear do you take to a shoot? 80% of the time I use whatever natural light is available and the other times I use the flash built in for that edgy look so I have no need for any lights or anything of the sort. Any advice to new photographers starting out? There’s a lot of competition in this industry but don’t let that deter you, stay true with your vision and the rest will follow, stay humble and never stop learning. Advice on Tattoo models just starting their Alternative INKED journey? Be aware of your image, not just in how you look for shoots or how you pose but in how you are represented, it’s worth paying experienced photographers to get your portfolio started because that is whats representing you to the world And just like I stated to the new photographers above, remember to stay humble and never stop learning.

101 Survival with The Ogle s (tell us a little bout that) 1. EBM: Lindsey & Dustin you guys just shot The Cover and feature for Our 4th Annual INKED edition with our Co-Editor Eric Dawson, Tell us about your experience? a. Dustin: I loved the experience. Eric is a true artist, and the studio was beautiful. My favorite part was watching Lindsey
a. One of favorite tattoo artists Devon Wooldridge needed a studio, and we had a space attached to our funky artistic Fade Salon. So, we came together and made it happen. It has blown up, he is incredible, and the private studio setting is a big hit. 7. EBM: Harp & Cleaver Magazine?
b. Lindsey: It was such a great opportunity to express myself and the love my husband and I share. As a woman, opportunities like this is so empowering. To be able to have that freedom and confidence is indescribable. I feel grateful for the experience. 2. EBM: Lindsey: what was your first tattoo and why? And how many in total do you have now?
a. This is a new movement for us, and it is gaining a lot of energy. The project is evolving quickly. The fundamental idea is to publish some of the amazing and interesting people that we all come across in our adventures via group contribution. We are formulating a print, video, and podcast blend right now. We are excited to see where this ends up. It’s cool to work on something with so many different people’s energy and perspectives to display.

television. The competitions were my strength, the social manipulation was my weakness. I'm always up for whatever comes my way.
a. Dustin: That was a wild ride. We were only a couple months out of launching the line, and just got the wholesale site live the first day of the show! We were extremely lucky to even get accepted there so early. And it turned out to be a huge opportunity. We met so many awesome new people in the industry and stole the show for the crowd! We made our booth cool, full of Lindsey’s art and lots color, and our team was inked up friends being themselves. We stuck out a little bit and felt like the weird kids at first among so much big corporate cold modern etc.… But, everyone loved it! We were overwhelmed with so many people interested in what we were doing, trying everything, and asking us when and where they could keep buying it.
14.EBM: What are some things you guys like to do to unwind with everything you have going on?
11.EBM: You just came back from filming for The Home Shopping Market Place (Congratulations) how did that go and where do you see your product going now? a. Lindsey: . It is our first time doing anything like this. The filming was a cool experience. Our segment starts airing July 8th through the month to 30million homes. I’m sure this will be a new wild ride with much to learn! b. Dustin: We are really picking up momentum with retailers. Salons are loving it the most followed by interesting boutiques and natural markets. Much of my focus is trying to grow this part of the company at a manageable rate so we can continue to provide incredible personalized service and positive vibes. I would like to see Ogle Products available to purchase in several thousand locations as well as online. 12.EBM: Lindsey/Dustin: do you guys think you will try out for the amazing race? a. Lindsey: That idea has been floating around for a while. We are open to any adventure the universe throws our way. b. Dustin: I’m down, why not. Shark Tank or Naked and Afraid would be my first choices, if I had a choice lol.
a. Dustin: Often I unwind the best with nature or music. A hike through the woods, or kayak down a river with a still mind are a couple favorites. I have been playing music all my life, and it is kind of a magical place for me. I like the way the piano or guitar will capture me in the present moment by consuming all my attention. We really enjoy our time together the most I think. We will go out and socialize regularly, but that can often turn into a version of work for us. So, my favorite times are having a chance to be silly and uninhibited with my best friend and wife. After being together so many years, we still love to talk deeply and explore ideas and each other’s perspectives on things. b. Lindsey: Any form of art. I love to create. Often, I find myself so deeply engaged into a project I forget the basic needs of a human being. Eating, sleeping, etc. Inspiration comes from the smallest flickers of a moment for me. It’s important to remind myself that not everything has to be work. It’s flattering when people request my creations for sale. However, I spend that time crafting with the intent to just make it beautiful and from whatever place in my mind I found it. Dustin’s music inspires a lot of art for me. Depending on the instrument or mood he is playing determines the energy of my work. In my eyes that is an indication of a utopian relationship. Or a couple of weirdos. Same thing…
15.EBM: Lindsey, what are your favorite must have for beauty and what is that one piece of clothing you can’t live without? a. The I AM: Face cream. Moisturizer is life for me. I love the way it makes my skin feel. Harem pants. Love love love my hippie Aladdin pants. Makes me want to high kick, rub a lamp for wishes, and do the hammer dance all at the same time. 16.EBM: What are your favorite quotes?
13.EBM: Lindsey you were a contestant on survivor: Brawns/ Beauty/Brain best known for your rivalry with team mate Trish Hegarty, and I’m sure you get asked this all the time, if you had not taken yourself outta that situation do you think you had a good chance to win? Ever think about trying out again?
a. Dustin: “We are all self-made, but only the successful will admit it.” Earl Nightingale “The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.” Albert Einstein
a. I would’ve. I could’ve. I should’ve. What if. My life that I choose to live is a fair representation of the choices I make every day. You constantly learn something new, especially when you get socially kicked in the balls on national

17.EBM: You guys are Role Models to many but there are two special little girls that look up to you the most, Lindsey and Dustin tell us about parenting with Multi-Businesses to run, where do you find the time? Dustin: It can be tough. We both bring the same high level of passion into life & parenting as we do business. So, when we can be with our girls, we are 100% engaged in them or some activity/adventure. This career can consume more time away from them than I like, but also affords us the ability to be with them more when they need it most, because we don’t answer to a time-clock or Vacation days. Lindsey: I am grateful to be able to be a strong independent woman in business. I love being able to not only teach my girls how to be, but to also show them by doing it myself. Not so long-ago women were not able to live the life I do. Living in a time that gives me the opportunity to be in control of my own destiny is something that I think of often and take full advantage of. It’s important for me to teach my girls to find their passion and live it to the fullest.
morning and go with what sounds good. I love food. I wish I could tell you something structured and routine… but I can’t! (laughing) I would have to say, thank you to my parents for good genetics. Can I plead the 5th on this question???
20.EBM: Lindsey you recently went on LIVE on Facebook with some Botox injections for your lips and eyes, any advice for women/men who are curious about getting it done? We know you recommended a doctor in Kokomo, can you give his name again for our readers? Dr Mark Manning at Randall Dermatology is the “Markelangelo” of the face. I love to freshen up. He is a true artist. He enhances natural beauty instead of disguising who you really are. Dr. Mark is a true perfectionist and extremely professional. I really enjoy him. We laugh and cut up. It’s nice to enjoy a service in the beauty industry. I devote so much time to others when I’m behind the chair at the salon, so this is my treat. I don’t do it often, it’s my mini vacation… (laughs)
18.EBM: Lindsey: What advice would you give not only your little girls but other women about Body Image? Self-esteem 21. EBM: What does the future look like for the Ogle Clan? and confidence? Any projects you can tell us about? When this opportunity to be in the inked issue came, I saw it as an opportunity to for self-love and expression. I have had the honor to carry and give life to two amazing human beings. Yes, my body has changed. My body is a symbol of life and even though it has developed “imperfections” I embrace them and love each one. My goal is to represent women’s strength in this issue. We are women, hear us roar!
We are always moving forward and coming up with exciting things. We have had so many people engaging with us and asking for more content and interaction with our unique perspectives that we are planning some exciting things that will be starting very soon! Follow us on social media and keep an eye out;)
19.EBM: You guys are fit, what is your health routine (diet, workouts, etc.) any tips you can give our readers?
IG: @ogleproducts
Dustin: I lift a couple days a week and run once a week and keep a wholesome diet with reasonable portions. I don’t engage in any extreme fitness goals. That is my secret to staying fit I guess. Getting and Staying fit requires consistency, and I think it’s best to find activities and foods that are good for your body that you also really enjoy. It’s easy to keep to a routine when it’s something you look forward too! Exercise for me is meditation and stress relief. I start every workout by using some stretching time to become present and mindful, turning off the mind chatter. I stay in that space through the workout while focusing my attention to my body and the task. That’s it. Find your thing.

Tattooed Carpenter shows her feminine side in a moody boudoir shoot.
Model- Ms. S Captured by Revealed Studios Maggie Rife-Ponce & Kelly Feldmiller Chicago, IL Courtesy of Two Bright Lights Ms. S came in for a boudoir session as a gift to her husband for their anniversary. She was so completely aware that session was going to be just as much, if not more, a gift to herself. As a carpenter and someone who trained vigorously for marathons, she wanted to do something outside her comfort zone that helped her get in touch with her feminine side. Outside the comfort zone is, after all, where the good stuff happens‌

INKED: Why I Did DO It By Shannon Harris
In March 2017, I made the decision to get my first tattoo. This was not an easy decision. I had been intrigued by tattoos as a teen, but something always stopped me from getting at tattoo. One reason was the pain of it. Another was how friends and family would show concern about how it would look as I aged. The last reason was because whenever I donated blood, I was always asked about tattoos and piercings. I knew if I had gotten one, I would be deferred and unable to donate blood, which being a universal donor made that a huge decision as lives depended on my blood type. I didn’t know it was only for a set time after getting a tattoo, not indefinitely, so I just didn’t do it. My life and worries changed in November 2016 when I was severely injured in a car accident. I experienced the worst pain in my life. By February, I had been through what I believed to be the worst of it, so I figured if I can take having my foot turned inside out, I could handle the pain of a little tattoo. I knew I would be deferred from donating blood because of my trauma and surgery, but I wasn’t sure how long. I researched the deferment length from surgery and discovered my tattoo would only cause a six month or so deferment. Well, I was already deferred so now was as good a time as any. I reached out to friends for recommendations for an artist. I was directed to Barry Craig who was in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This would be a long drive for me, so I had to be dedicated to it. Now it was time to decide on the design. This part was the hardest because I wanted to only get one tattoo, so it had to be a good and something I was happy with forever. The main design would include a butterfly. I have always loved the symbolism of how something that appeared to be ugly would become something so beautiful. I wanted some beauty out of this accident. Next, I wanted to somehow incorporate my writing into it. Writing had become my go to when challenges and painful situations occurred. It was also where I felt the strongest. I got the idea to make the butterfly’s body into a fountain pen, like it was writing something. What it was writing was a whole other issue. The last part of the butterfly was the inclusion of a semicolon; the semicolon represents mental health awareness for those who find themselves at and end but who choose to continue living life. I certainly thought my story was
70
over the day of the accident, but I survived. I was left with what the pen would be writing. Truth be told, I was working on this part even up to minutes before Barry would start my tattoo. I even made last minute changes, and he was gracious about it. I knew I wanted “hope” included so I looked for quotes with hope in them. Most were too long, but one that started with “faith” then “hope” stood out. My faith had been there with me through several difficult decisions and even found a way to prepare me for what was about to happen. Several of the “Faith” and “Hope” tattoos had “Love,” but I didn’t feel that “Love” was necessary because I had lots of love in my life. I wanted something that would be a reminder to stand strong and boldly go where others may not. As I waited for Barry to print a template of the butterfly, I searched for the final piece. That’s when I came across “Faith,” “Hope,” and “Courage.” Courage. Yeah, that would work. I would need courage to brave into the unknown of this new life after the accident as the doctors all told me the life I had prior would never be the same. This made me think of how courage is a key support for cancer patients. When my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had the courage to continue teaching through the school year then seek treatment because her students were so important to her. She ultimately lost that battle, but I had another dear friend who just started her own battle with the terrible disease, so I chose courage for her too. I know that seems like a lot for a tattoo, but this was no easy decision for me. I wanted every bit of it to serve as meaning. Again, I only was going to do this once. That’s what they all say, right? I have plans to take a couple of scars from some painful periods of my life to make them beautiful as well. I am still considering the design of at least two more, but I do know that my next one will incorporate something from my biological father who recently passed away. Maybe you’ll see it in future INKED editions. The last thing I have to say about my decision to be inked was that tattoo had so much symbolism that it has served as a reminder for each supportive thing since I was inked. In October 2017, I went through a very, very dark period of my life.

My marriage was falling apart, I had to undergo another surgery on my foot, and finances got super scary. Each time I found I was spiraling down, I turned to my faith for the courage to hold on knowing that there was always hope that something would get better.
were ugly, but they didn’t have to stay that way. I have since then reconciled with my husband, survived my second surgery with a bigger scar, and still hold hope that our finances will improve one day, but until then: Faith. Hope. Courage.

As I was growing up, I would constantly hear negative opinions about tattoos. As I have gotten older, they still exist but not as predominant. When I turned 18, I was so psyched to skip class and head to the nearest tattoo parlor and receive my first tattoo. Although it was small, I felt so powerful. I now have over 10 tattoos and still working on inking my canvas. Each and every one of my tattoos has a meaning standing behind it. Almost all of them have something to do with my children. They each have left a footprint, not only in my heart, but also, on my skin! I couldn’t be more happy with the outcome.

UNDERNEATH IT ALL
T
he human body is a very strange, imperfect, beautiful thing. Too many of us believe it needs to fit into a box and be governed by politics- but that’s where we are wrong. There are no words for it. Have you ever watched videos on the internet of people doing 20 backflips in a row, of tightrope walkers, of a woman giving birth? Our bodies are capable of anything you can imagine. What we should never be doing is putting the human body on a scale, to weigh it against what others believe is acceptable, or good enough. One of the least accepted things in human culture is nudity. We have conditioned ourselves so hard against it, that we cannot see a naked body without trying to figure out if we should be turned on by it or not.
How many times do you hear the argument of whether women should be allowed to go topless in public? Breasts are still so very sexualized, along with the buttocks, and various other parts of the body, that we can’t feel comfortable in public because people must accuse us of being lewd and provocative. It’s so bad that most people don’t even feel comfortable in their own homes naked. I met a man once who refused to sleep without a shirt, underwear and shorts on, because he felt it was inappropriate to be without clothing. It doesn’t help that nudity is illegal and depending on where you are when you are caught nude, you could be accused of exposing yourself to minors as well even if you were not acting in a sexual manner.
I find I am very comfortable nude, however, I still have the subconscious discomfort that makes me always put my underwear back on after sex. I have found that I have less discomfort with nudity the older I get. The other day, I did a nude modeling shoot and showered outside in their backyard, no thought of it being strange. I think the more often that you spend without clothes, in a healthy situation (not a sexually charged situation, but simply existing in the nude), you will start to let go of those fears of “doing something wrong” by being nude.
98
I have 8 tattoos currently. I like to be able to display them, which requires a bit of nudity. I think my most significant tattoos are my side tattoos. I have one on my left and one on my right, and they are pretty similar concepts. A bunch of spirals formed together that climb up my sides in a pattern. To the audience, there is no meaning. You can’t see anything there. I intended it that way- these are selfdesigned pieces. The one on my left side I got done in 2011. I was 23. In 2010, I met a man named Danny, and he had the biggest positive impact anyone had on my life to that date. He was a very genuine soul, very beautiful, but mostly he changed my world as I knew it. If you see pictures before and after, it’s like one of those 90's teen makeover movies where she comes in “plain” and comes out this entirely different character. I drew his name in spirals and got it tattooed on my left side.
The one on my right side I got done in 2016. I was 28. In that same year, I met a man named Nathan. He had the next biggest positive impact anyone had on my life to that date. He was very intelligent, very kind, very ambitious. After we met, my art style completely changed. I learned my craft in such a way I had never done before. He taught me to apply myself, without actually “teaching” me, he simply inspired me. I drew his name in spirals and got it tattooed on my right side. Nudity does not equal sexuality and tattooing someone’s name is not an unhealthy idea. I will warn against getting a love interest tattooed on you simply for the sake of being a love interest, you should tattoo things or people who have made a significant impact upon your life.
Be smart and be free. And love hard, because love matters most of all.

TWELVE ROUNDS
Dedication to a Brother & Father taken too soon.
Shawn Parker with his daughters Campbell and Chase. Below with his loving Sister Ashe.
In 2010, I lost my father. He was terminally ill. He loved hummingbirds so much. Two of my tattoos I have are little hummingbirds, one has my Dad’s initials in the wings in his memory. Tragically, in 2015, my oldest brother’s heart stopped beating behind the wheel of the car. He had trained jiu jitsu that day, as that was his passion. He had also just played a three hour long tennis match, as tennis was his favorite sport. The t shirt he was wearing that night had the words “twelve rounds” on it. And if you knew my brother and the trials he faced in life, he definitely fought twelve rounds. I designed the tattoo on my shoulder in his memory and I knew he would love it. As for
the ink on my thigh- my daughter felt left out because I didn’t have anything with her name. She wanted a rose because of Beauty and the Beast, and her name is Bella. I incorporated a vintage style camera mixed with roses because I love being in front of the lens. I also love capturing life’s moments because honestly, nothing is permanent - which I have those words tattooed on my left shoulder blade. All of my tattoos have a meaning. I love them and they’re super addictive. Shawn Parker, this one’s for you brother. I love and miss you so very much.

Hello readers, I’m Hayley Homicide, a tattooed mommy to 2 beautiful girls and a bonus mom to a sweet little libra boy. I grew up watching my dad get tattooed and knew that I would have my own collection! I used to be a Registered Dental Assistant for 10 years, but I decided to chase my dreams. I want my kids to have seen that if we work hard at something anything is possible. When I’m not studying to be a Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist, you can find me hiking around the woods with my dog, Cloud, or playing with my kids at the beach!
