Cassell’s career has included service as a Counterterrorism Combat Dive Instructor to the Special Ops community, a former Special Ops combat medic and a MedEvac Flight Instructor in the USA Army National Guard. He has also been an anti-piracy consultant and a sniper. Over the past several years, Cassell has divided his time between exploring and researching the undersea world, and risking his life hunting down poachers and other lawbreakers whose activities threaten ocean ecosystems, conducting missions for the protection of our marine life and the environment. Cassell: “Our seas are dying, and this is not ok”.
Mission One Through his Undersea Voyager Project, Cassell undertakes missions to discover the condition of the world’s oceans. In 2012, each mission involves either using his sub The Great White or the new undersea habitat “Voyager” for missions lasting up to several weeks underwater. Cassell says, “The Great White submersible is a window to the secrets of the sea that many people, who would not otherwise have access to the sea, will have the opportunity to see the desperate help our oceans need.”
Mission Two rECOn Missions is a division of Undersea Voyager Project with a critically important mission: To hunt maritime poachers, polluters and Eco-terrorists and to film them using SpecOps methods and technology, and give the evidence to Law Enforcement entities. Scott has proven to be very effective with 11 poachers he has caught, now serving prison terms, with more pending.
Cassell’s main mission today is to raise awareness of the deteriorating condition of our oceans, mainly due to massive killing of the shark population – more then 200 000 sharks are killed every day for sole reason of cutting off their fin for making soup out of it. “With the extermination of the sharks, the ecosystem in our ocean is in danger. “The oceans need warriors! Not more words!” says Cassell. Luminox’s continuing partnership with Cassell supports the explorer’s vital ocean missions, aimed at supporting to save the oceans and their inhabitants. When he’s not hunting down poachers, Cassell explores the underwater world. He knows that people are more motivated to protect the things they understand best, but the vast majority of the world’s oceans remain mysterious and unexplored. So Cassell created the non-profit Undersea Voyager Project (UVP), which helps marine researchers, educators, students, and “citizen scientists” explore and learn about the underwater environment through dives in specially equipped submarines and live webcasts of the expeditions. As an undersea explorer, Cassell has often encountered the unknown, documented his discoveries, and freely shared them with the scientific and educational communities. The UVP multiplies learning opportunities by opening the world’s unexplored oceans to those inspired by deepsea discovery. In support of the UVP, Luminox has created the new 3054 Colormark Special Scott Cassell dive watch in collaboration with Cassell. A portion of proceeds from sales of this watch will go toward funding UVP and its mission of exploration. The island is currently owned by top City trader Christian Siva-Jothy, a former partner in Goldman Sachs, who has modernised the main house. He closed down the $200million business he began after leaving Goldman Sachs and made a stunning confession about his ability to play the market. Mr Siva-Jothy wrote to investors in his firm SemperMacro: “In this business, you are only as good as your last few trades. Mine have not been very good. Whether I have lost my edge or simply need a break after 23 years, I am not sure. I certainly hope it’s the latter”. It is thought his financial misfortune has forced him to sell up. Previous owners have included Sir Reginald Johnston, a retired tutor to Puyi, the last Chinese emperor, in the 1930s and then a retired Indian army officer. Toyota and its flagship brand Lexus have been at the forefront of hybrid technology and the fruits of their efforts are nicely showcased in the revised Lexus RX 450h. This all-wheel-drive model competes against the likes of the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz ML and the Range Rover, but outscores them all on several counts. Its hybrid format means the Lexus is exempt from the London congestion charge, is around half the company car tax for cars in this sector, and returns much better fuel economy – best in class at 44.8 mpg combined.
This all-wheel-drive model competes against the likes of the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz ML and the Range Rover, but outscores them all on several counts.
Priced from ÂŁ44,495 and with SE, F Sport and Premium specifications, the RX 450h is powered by a 3.5 V6 litre petrol engine offering 295 hp but boosted by 174 hp front and 67 hp rear electric motors. It starts silently by using just an electric motor before the petrol engine seamlessly cuts in. The main electric motor cuts in automatically to use battery power at speeds up to 25mph and you can choose to run on just electric power for almost two miles in city driving conditions. Drive to the wheels is via a CVT automatic transmission which has a fully automatic mode or a manual tiptronic gearshift. Also, the driver can choose ECO, EV (electric) and SNOW driving modes.

Top speed is 124mph and 0-60mph is nippy at 7.8 seconds. And while the combined fuel figure is 44.8 mpg, the urban figure is still 42.8 mpg and the extra urban 47.2 mpg, showing how the RX 450h is consistently frugal. The technology may sound complex but as a driver, you just don’t notice it. The car is userfriendly, simple to operate and drives with great fluency, quietness and comfort. My test model was in Premium trim, costing £55,495 and as you might expect, is laden with equipment including rear and side view cameras and self-levelling four-position air suspension. Other features include leather upholstery, luxury carpeting, heated, ventilated and electrically-adjustable front seats, climate control, cruise control, keyless entry and pushbutton start, head-up display, remote-touch audio/navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic wipers and lights and an electricallyoperated tailgate. And that’s just the short-list! The RX 450h seats five adults in great comfort, and has excellent luggage space - 490-litres with the seats in use. The cabin is well-designed, and has a true premium appearance. The exterior is distinctive, striking and exclusive, and there is the bonus that the RX 450h also scores with its greater eco-appeal and lower running costs than main rivals in the sector.

Swiss creator Claudia Eicke had the unusual idea while thinking of a bag that would hold all the items a woman might need during the day. And with women leading increasingly busy lifestyles, she decided she needed to invent a bag that would be suitable for work as well as shopping trips and parties. The end result, called the Envoyage Taschen Weekender, boasts numerous useful compartments that enable a woman to carry everything she needs without having to use a second bag. This includes a special tunnel compartment at the base of the bag that can be used to store alongside others things - a wine bottle. Claudia said: “It was quite difficult to come up with the final design”. “We made ten prototypes before we had the perfect result. It took several days”. She added: “We have had very good reactions to the bag. People like the tunnel idea and they bring their own ideas too. Some suggested putting a yoga mat in the space”.

Our personal approach allows us to infuse and deliver the initial briefing meeting into a very high quality design service, ultimately concluding in a bespoke finished design solution and creating the reality of the client’s original dream.
The whole architectural process is a journey for us and our client’s. We feel this is best when there is a regular dialogue that enables our clients to see their original ‘dream’ start to take on a form and structure that is tangible.

The process of concept development is directly informed from the original briefing discussions. Numerous ideas are sketched and considered until a suitable concept is chosen to be developed into a preliminary feasibility scheme for review with the client. Concept sketches, plans and models will then be developed into a more detailed preliminary scheme which would include spatial development, room and or furniture layouts, elevational treatments and generally the development of the concept into a more developed architectural solution. It is at this stage we will normally advise the client of the need for using different specialist consultants for different aspects of the project.

Porsche says its new Cayenne S Diesel will soon be the ‘torque’ of the town, offering a compelling combination of dynamic performance and efficiency. Available in January and priced from £58,243, the new model features a 4.2-litre twinturbocharged V8 engine developing 381 hp and 850 Newton metres of torque, the most powerful Cayenne yet. The new addition to the range can sprint from 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds, and on to a top speed of 157mph. This is balanced by combined fuel consumption of 34 mpg. Aiding efficiency is the auto start/stop function; the Cayenne S Diesel is the world’s only V8 diesel SUV to offer this feature. Says Porsche “The Cayenne S Diesel has been developed to deliver a characteristic Porsche driving experience, with dynamic performance and sound reminiscent of a sports car. In particular, the smooth-running properties and resonant vocal quality of the eight-cylinder engine attain a level comparable to that expected from a Porsche V8.” The character of the Cayenne S Diesel is underlined by the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive. This system delivers the dynamic qualities of a rear-wheel drive car, together with its inherent benefits in terms of handling and precision. Torque is directed to the front wheels precisely according to the driving situation to improve stability and traction. Externally, the new model displays the typical visual features of the eight-cylinder petrol Cayenne S. The brake system, for example, has been optimised to handle the car’s power output, and it is identified by its silver brake callipers. The black front intake grilles emphasise the open air inlets. The ‘diesel’ badges on the front wings hint at the engine under the bonnet, and the model badge at the rear identifies it as a Cayenne S. Standard equipment includes leather interior, dual-zone automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, audio system with seven-inch touch-screen, eight-way powered front seat adjustment, front and rear electric windows, and 18” alloy wheels.

This autumn, speculation was rife as to who chairman Eddie Mitchell would appoint as replacements for the Cherries departed management duo. A whole host of names were linked to the club, but there were two which rang sweetly in the ears of Cherries fans right from the start – Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall. Howe and Tindall are firmly etched in the history books at AFC Bournemouth after their first tenure at the club. Loyal servants at both playing and managerial level, the duo guided the club not only to safety against all odds in 2009, but also a swift and triumphant return to League One just a season later. Their decision to leave in January 2011 for Championship side Burnley left many fans heartbroken, as local boy Howe and his assistant Tindall had transformed the club from the brink of exiting the Football League to a firmly established League One side pushing for promotion. So after an indifferent start to the 2012/2013 season, chairman Mitchell has performed a masterstroke. Just over 18 months after they left, Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall are back.

The latest sensation at the Goldsands Stadium is 26-year-old midfielder Lorenzo Davids. Doesn’t that surname sound familiar?
“I have seen a couple of games, and the football has been very good. English football has always excited me.
Born in Suriname, Lorenzo grew up in Holland and started his senior career with Dutch giants Feyenoord. In 2007 he signed for N.E.C. in Nijmegen where he established himself in the middle of the park and was involved in their European campaigns.
“It doesn’t matter what league you play in, to have the opportunity to play in England is incredible.
In 2011, he signed for German Bungesliga club Augsburg. They were newcomers in to the top flight and expected to go straight back down, but defied the odds to finish in 14th place, with Lorenzo making 20 appearances in the successful season. Lorenzo also has a famous footballing cousin in Edgar Davids, a player he admires, aspires to emulate, and who has also recently made a move to England as joint player-manager at League 2 Barnet.
“I was injured and trying to come back fast and then I heard that Bournemouth were interested in me. I searched on the internet for information on the club and as soon as I saw and read everything, I wanted to come here straight away.” Lorenzo has had experience of playing in England once, and the structure of English football is something that excites him. “I played here once in pre-season against Reading for Feyenoord, and that was the only time I’d been to England before.
With top flight experience in both Holland and Germany behind him, the chance to play in England was just too good and he believes that the ambitions of the club will justify his decision.
“The English supporters have a great knowledge of football and are known for being very supportive, and that is important. “It is really great that in England, clubs outside the top two divisions all have good crowds and stadiums, whereas in my experience in Holland and Germany, it is nothing like that. “The way football is in England just can’t be compared to anywhere else.”
LORENZO DAVIDS It is Lorenzo though that is looking to make a name for himself, and despite living in England for the first time, he has found it easy to settle at the Goldsands Stadium. “I have been here for a month now and its great,” he told Hot magazine. “I’ve been getting to know my team mates, the manager and coaches and its all good here! “It is good that Frank Demouge is here as I know him from Holland as that made it easier when I arrived, but everyone has been kind to me as soon as I arrived.” With top flight experience in both Holland and Germany behind him, the chance to play in England was just too good and he believes that the ambitions of the club will justify his decision. “It is a new adventure for me to have the experience of playing in England. There is a great group of players here and every day in training, the team is getting better and I believe that there will be celebrations here!

It’s been far from a quiet start to the new campaign off the field at the Goldsands Stadium. The club has announced commercial partnerships with Energy Consulting Group, Platinum Media and Eirens of London, as well as cutting the ribbon on the new Kings Park training pitches and the Bubbles Champagne Bar. Goldsands Management, a newly formed private concierge service based in London, secured the naming rights for the stadium with a three-year deal in August, while Energy Consulting Group will have its logo displayed on the front of the first-team shirts up until the end of the 2015 season. Local businesses have also had the chance to sponsor every age group in the academy and youth team, and reputable companies such as Playgolf and Energy Network Service have backed the young players.
AFC Business has established itself as one of the region’s biggest networking clubs and hosted its first event to be attended by over 140 business men and women.

The Community Sports Trust, which reaches over 2,500 children across Dorset each week, made a landmark trip to Nakuru in Kenya in June. Five volunteers spent 10 days working with local children in the poverty stricken town and hope to build strong ties with the area by returning as part of the African Adventure project next summer. Closer to home, the Trust has introduced a healthy lifestyles initiative with Time Business designed to inspire school children to enjoy sport and become interested in maintaining a good diet. After a busy summer full of soccer schools that were kindly sponsored by Snows Seat and “sport for all� sessions, the Beales Soccer Saturday club, which is free for boys and girls aged seven to 12, is going from strength to strength after the department store agreed to sponsor the project for a third year.

SPICE IT UP... Walking along Westbourne high street you can catch a waft of the gorgeous aromas oozing from Indi’s which sets your taste buds off and drawers you in. We entered to a friendly welcome from the staff who kindly took our coats and showed us to our table. The restaurant was very busy, even for a Tuesday evening and the atmosphere was lively with lots of laughter and chat which we find an absolute must when dining out, as who wants to be sat in a dull lifeless restaurant? I know I don’t. We were immediately offered poppadoms and with our drinks order taken we were left to ponder over what to pick from the extensive menu that seemed to cover almost every angle, even vegetarian, with a plethora of meat free options and also many seafood and fish options that you would be hard up to find in a traditional Indian restaurant. This goes to show how forward thinking Indi’s is, it has moved with the times, creating exciting and unique modern cuisine to cater for every guest that walks through their door. Once we had a look through the menu we had a few questions about some particular dishes, our host CJ was more than eager to answer our questions and helped me make my decision, being a lover of curry, I have a very sweet tooth and particular about the heat of my dish as not wanting to scar my taste buds for life I was considering going for a signature dish of Indi’s‚ the Garlic Chilli Chicken which had a couple of chilli pepper icons to represent the heat of each curry which helps guests gauge the heat of their curry - I was a little wary of this factor so when mentioning to CJ ‚“is this hot” he gave me some advice, like someone who knew each dish like the back of their hand. At Indi’s the heat of a curry is not how hot the curry is, but it’s about the spice of the dish, having the correct blend that complement each other, not to overpower the pallet. It was reassuring to know our host knew what he was talking about. My Guest opted for the Curried sea bass which sounded gorgeous too. We ordered some sag aloo, coconut rice and mango nan to accompany which I had never had before, I usually go for a peshwari nan but was recommended by CJ that the mango was that little bit more exciting and I wasn’t disappointed, packed full of coconut with sliced mango dusted over the top it was the perfect side to match the garlic and chilli in the main dish. 138

After devouring these mouth watering dishes we were well and truly satisfied, If it was to have ended there we would have been more than content, then the sweet menu was popped under our noses, we decided it would be rude not to and chose to sample a third course! In my experience, the desserts on offer in Indian & chinese restaurants are often ready made frozen things with no appeal what so ever, so when I didn’t see the usual unimaginative deserts I was even more eager to try. We went for the chocolate puddling with some mango sorbet which we shared, it really topping off a fantastic meal, packed full of gooey chocolate that ran out of the pudding when you dug in & the sweet sorbet that really cleansed the pallet. I was truly impressed with our visit to Indi’s, the service was outstanding not only to us but we could see around us that all the diners where receiving this high level of attention to detail which made the overall atmosphere and dining experienced one of the best I’ve had in recent times, The pricing is very reasonable, a little higher than your standard Indian restaurant but this isn’t your standard restaurant. Indi’s goes above and beyond to meet your needs and is the ideal place for a first date, group party or even a takeaway, book now and experience it for yourself. Seared Cornish scallops, red pepper puree, Scottish kale and salsify
Recipe
Ingredients Salsify 3 large Cornish scallops Kale Red peppers Micro herbs (for garnish)
Method Puree: sweat off ½, leek, 1 stick of celery and 2 finely diced shallots, with no colour or caramelisation. Add 4 deseeded peppers and cook until soft. Finish with chicken stock and blend until smooth. Pass through a colander to take out lumps for a smooth finish. Salt and white pepper to taste. Kale: take 1 stem of kale, 1 leaf. Trim from the tough stem. Heat off a pan with no oil until very hot. Add kale, a small cup of water and seal the pan with a lid and sweat until volume has reduced by half. Add a small knob of butter and salt and pepper. Drain off excess liquid. Salsify: wash under the tap until most dirt has washed off. Peel lightly until it’s just the white vegetable left. Add straight to lemon water to prevent it from browning. Take 1 stick of salsify and shave on to a dry cloth to take out moisture. Fry on very hot pan until golden brown and crispy Scallops: Very hot pan, sear until golden, turn and sear until golden. Add a knob of butter, 30 seconds on each side. Remove from heat and rest for 1 minute. Serve with red amaranth and fresh dill. AW 2012

Born and bred in Bournemouth, Daniel has been broadcasting locally since 2004. His interest in broadcasting began when he was just 12 years old and ten years later, like Vicky he landed an opportunity at Hospital Radio Bedside. Daniel broadcast extensively on HRB for four years and picked up a couple of awards for his work with the station. Through his dedication and hard work at HRB, Daniel secured a position at Fire Radio. After working his way up from making tea and wearing a bright orange t-shirt at local events he was given an opportunity on early breakfast. The job meant getting up at a time when many people still hadn’t even gone to bed from the night before, but never the less he still got up and presented the show until being given a weekly Saturday lunchtime show. From there he went on to present Sunday breakfast and weekdays 10-2. “After four fantastic years at Fire it was the right time to move on. I am thrilled to be working with Claire again here at Hot Radio and I am really looking forward to working for a station dedicated to providing for the community of Poole and Bournemouth.” Daniel is also involved with BBC Radio Solent in Southampton where he has gone from helping on a Saturday morning, to being given opportunities across many of the stations shows as a Broadcast Assistant and Producer. He brings with him masses of enthusiasm and experience, which Hot Radio can really benefit from as we continue to grow and develop. Both Daniel and Vicky have strong on air presence and potential. Vicky is the new voice for evenings on Hot Radio, which is an exciting development for both her and the station. With a raft of new features and topical chat, Vicky will bring a fresh take to week nights in the Poole and Bournemouth area. Vicky, only started work in radio two years ago presenting for an online radio station. Having been bitten by the radio bug, Vicky began volunteering for Hospital Radio Bedside at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital where she began to hone her skills as a presenter. She quickly developed her own upbeat, bubbly style and landed at Hot Radio earlier this year. Her voice will already be familiar to many Hot Radio listeners who will have heard her co-present with Geoff Carter, as a part of his popular “Talkabout” feature, weekdays at 10am. Away from the mic Vicky’s other passion is photography, so when not in the radio studio, she is in her photography studio running her own business www.vickybright.co.uk

A five star hotel is being chiselled out of a giant abandoned quarry in China. The ‘groundscraper’ hotel project will cost at least $555 million (£345million), with nightly rooms expected to start at $320 (£200). The 19-storey, 380-room Shimao InterContinental Hotel will be 30 miles from the city of Shanghai, in an abandoned quarry at the foot of Tianmenshan Mountain. Photos by: Atkins / Rex Features

The bottom two floors will include an underwater restaurant, athletic complex for water sports and 10-metre deep aquarium. Project developers Shimao Property Group worked with British engineering firm Atkins to design the imaginative hotel, which they hope to complete in late 2014 or early 2015.
