Passau

A proud city which has found strength in adversity, Budapest has so many unique qualities, making it a truly wonderful place to explore. From eclectic architecture to natural hot springs, there is something to suit every interest. Formerly two separate cities divided by the Danube, both certainly possess their own personalities, with Buda to the west and Pest to the east.

On the German and Austrian border, the picturesque Bavarian town of Passau is nicknamed the ‘Three Rivers City’, as the meeting point of the Danube, Ilz and Inn rivers. Overlooking the city, the 13th century Veste Oberhaus is now home to a museum, hostel and restaurant, while Passau Old Town is recognised for its beautiful Baroque architecture, namely St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its onion-domed towers and an organ boasting over 17,000 pipes.

Buda’s narrow, winding streets and steep hills are home to beautiful Buda Castle. Head to the neighbouring Fisherman’s Bastion for unrivalled views of the magnificent Parliament Building. And take a walk over the iconic Chain Bridge to Pest, where a bustling café, bar and restaurant culture is alive throughout the day.
