Artists Exhibiting • Ghada Al Muhammedi / b.1987 / Saudi Arabia Born in Jeddah, Ghada has always been inspired by impressionist artists. Her paintings tell her vision of the history of Arabic architecture through her romantic and feminine portraiture. Al Muhammedi has participated in many group exhibitions and one recent solo in her native Saudi Arabia. • Ibrahim Al Atiyah / b.1977 / Kuwait Ibrahim Al Atiyah, a Kuwaiti artist inspired by the language of his mother tongue. Multilayered works by the prolific artist mimic a myriad of tales, language and heritage in his latest ‘Sadu Above Water’ series recently exhibited in Kuwait’s Dar Al Funoon Gallery and a 2014 participant in Bonhams Middle East auction. • Nic Courdy / b.1990 / Palestine Nic Courdy is an American artist of Palestinian descent. He presents his audience with highly imaginative works that create a hybrid of past and present art movements; producing a new contemporary. Courdy is currently completing an artist residency in the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art. • Hossein Edalatkhah / b.1979 / Iran Hossein Edalatkhah from Tehran currently resides in Istanbul pursuing his art. The art of Hossein Edalatkhah addresses social, political and historical themes from his native land of Iran. Edalatkhah has held 11 solo exhibitions and over 25 exhibitions so far in his young career. • Amir Ershadi / b.1990 / Iran Amir Ershadi is a rapidly growing emerging artist in Tehran. His intricately hand painted portraiture coupled with dominant calligraphic references have marked his signature style of eastern and western symbolism. • Azadeh Etebarian / b.1979 / Iran Azadeh Etebarian is an Iranian paradoxical artist. She juxtaposes universally recognised Western characters with Eastern symbols from her heritage. Following solo exhibitions in Tehran’s esteemed art galleries, Etebarian paves her way West.
• Elham Etemadi / b.1983/ Iran Elham Etemadi’s art is both traditional yet contemporary – a surrealist approach infused with traditional references to her culture. Following her most recent solo exhibition in Strasbourg, France, Etemadi completes her PhD. in Fine Art. • Janet Hagopian / b.1967 / Iran Janet Hagopian, of Iranian-Armenian origin, believes no one culture dominates the other in her creative expression. Her seemingly abstract shapes and forms are direct correlations to questions of identity and perseverance. Hagobian invites the viewer to relate to his/her own questions of place and time. Hagobian, resides in Beirut where she is an active artist in the Beirut area. • Keyvan Heydari / b.1985 / Iran Keyvan Heydari is an Iranian visual artist and pioneer of the graffiti art movement in Tehran. His art is inspired by renowned Iranian poets Hafez and Rumi. Heydari, residing in San Francisco is making his mark locally in the street art movement. • Anas Homsi / b.1987 / Syria Homsi was born and raised in Syria and recently displaced to Lebanon. Known for his figurative and vibrant abstract works – his daubs of paint intend to capture the atmosphere of a memory. Homsi is headed to Berlin to pursue his artistic production. • Monther Jawabreh / b.1976/ Palestine Monther Jawabreh was born and raised in Al Arroub refugee camp in Bethlehem, Palestine. Based on geographical, ethnic and identity themes, Jawabreh explores the human persona amidst conflicting realities through his mixed media works. Jawabreh’s exposure has taken him across the world, recently holding two solo shows in Morocco. • Siddiqa Juma / b.1962 / Zanzibar Siddiqa Juma has made her stamp as an artist of Islamic contemporary art. Juma’s paintings and digital compilations referencing religious themes and symbolism have made their way around the world through rotating exhibitions. Juma’s graphic design background has paved the way for never before seen Islamic art using digital media.
• Manou Marzban / b.1962 / Iran Manou Marzban regards himself as an artist of pre-revolution Iranian origin. Marzban, aka “Manou”, reinvents Persian icons from an old dynasty into pop culture icons. Exuding energy and provocation, Manou’s recent solo show in Geneva has brought forth his ‘Qaj Freaks’ series to a large international audience. • Mo Negm / b.1981 / Egypt Mo Negm is a British-Egyptian artist who has turned to painting to document his multifaceted identity. Referred to as ‘documentary impressionism, Negm is an expressive painter inspired by factors defining the Middle East region. His “Learning to Walk” series explores the relationship between him and his mother tongue, Arabic. • Ali Shawwa / b.1976 / Kuwait Ali Shawwa has lived between the Middle East, Europe and US. Shawwa translates his experiences, thoughts, memories, culture, senses and emotions through his hyper-realistic artwork. He lives in Dubai producing his latest series referencing pop culture through acrylic on canvas works.
