Lumiere

EMG Solicitors is proud to have sponsored Lumiere in Durham since 2017.

Lumiere is a light art biennial and has been transforming cities across the UK since 2009. Each Lumiere festival invites local and international artists to create works that reimagine buildings and public spaces, changing the way we experience our environment and the dark, winter nights.

EMG Solicitors sponsored ‘Our Moon’ in 2017 and ‘Fool’s Paradise’ (shown above) in 2019. Both installations were projected on to the side of the iconic Durham Castle.

In 2021 and 2023, EMG Solicitors sponsored the festival’s ‘BRILLIANT’ commissioning scheme. Aimed at encouraging anyone, not just practising artists, to suggest their brightest idea for an artwork as part of the Lumiere programme.

WonderLAN

Each year, EMG Solicitors hosts the WonderLAN Ball, a charity fundraiser in aid of Headway – the brain injury association.

Due to our work with vulnerable clients in our Court of Protection team, many of our clients are brain injury survivors. EMG Solicitors is proud to sponsor the LAN event every year and has so far raised over £100,000 for the charity.

The ‘Look Ahead in the North’ (LAN) event takes brain injury survivors for an unforgettable weekend of outdoor activities, therapies, workshops and entertainment, making a huge difference to those who attend.

Community

We place a huge value on family - our family at work, home and the wider community.

EMG Solicitors care passionately about our community and enjoy many fantastic relationships with charities and community groups across the UK.

The sectors we specialise in mean that we see first-hand some of the fantastic work being done in the community and we use our business skills and charitable giving to help a range of charities and voluntary organisations.

Our people tell us this is really important to them and so in 2019 we set up our own EMG community fund to help support our local communities through charitable giving. At the same time we made a company pledge to donate 5% of any annual profits to our fund.

Meet Spocky… our Deep Space Mascot! Created for the Great North Snowdogs Trail, Spocky now lives in our Durham office. EMG Solicitors has supported the St Oswald’s trails since 2016 and our four-legged friends can be found across our offices!
