Spring/Summer 2018 will be a season of Simplicity. Simplify is the state or quality of being simple. It’s not only a concept, but also a belief, philosophy, and lifestyle. Simplicity can imply beauty, purity, or clarity. Society will strive for a better, simple, yet sophisticated life, the concept of having less is more. For this season, Simplicity will ripen. Complexity, and all others will develop to be the simplest to achieve the ultimate sophistication and perfection, where there is nothing left to take away. Isolation. Our lifestyle will grow toward being more about spending time by ourselves, and essentially leading to a more simple life. Wellness. A big part of our focus as we start looking more into ourselves. We will want to create lifestyle that is pure, and that will be more about doing or making things that make us feel good and comfortable. Consciousness. Closely-knit with Wellness. We will become more aware of our surroundings because we need a healthy society to feel good. In term of environment, people will pay extra attention or effort to protect and keep their environment a better place. We will focus more on our inner soul and lifestyle, we will want a simple way to dress ourselves. Reincarnation of the Classic. Old will be replaced by new, and new will be replaced by newer. The only true lasting style is the Classic. Classic elements will resurface, evolve, and incorporate with new ideas to create the one true everlasting trend. As our state of mind will evolves through inner and improving technology. Transparency. Will be an essential characteristic of our society, people access information concerning them within a reach without limitation. We will want to live in a place where we have clarity of our surroundings.

Isolation Isolationism will grow to be the majority choice of lifestyle. We will seek for inner peace and solitary over others. Focusing more on ourselves instead of worrying what others might think of us. With this comes people with confidence and unique personality. Imagine being at a Misty forest early in spring morning, our color palettes will imitate a dreamy, peaceful, and mellow ambiance of the forest. Silk, Satin, and cotton will be our main choices of fabrics to represent the unique and mellow smoothness the fog of Misty forest. Marble, and Geometric prints and patterns will be incorporate into the design to exhibit the Sui Generis in isolationism.

Wellness A healthy and pure lifestyle will be what we strive for. We will attain this through variety of paths, such as dietary that cleanse our body. Or, dressing habit with tendency toward fashionable yet comfortable sportswear. This has already emerged around us as we see technology is incorporating itself with wellness element, smart watch that track your vitality. Jogging by east river in New York City during the day, watch people fleeting by you, sunlight melting on your skin. We will play with bright, and bold colors with the energetic siprit to mix with the abstract, and water movement to capture the energy and flow that one possesses when exercising. Breathable, and elastic fabrics will be the main attributes of the design to provide comfortableness.

Consciousness Having a viable, and healthy surroundings is critical in our life. We will be heedful issues concerning us, such as environmental, people will spend effort in making the environment a better place. Products made with natural organic ingredients will be available to us, such as shirt made from organic cotton, colored by natural pigment, silk, or faux fur. And we will be prone to paying premium to resolve problem concerning our surroundings. The vastness, and clearness of the blue sky inspired us to use colors that captures the characteristic to represent one’s conscious mind of being aware. Our fabric selection will be light-weighted, and patchwork fur to incorporate with color blocking.

Reincarnation of the Classic The Classic is always the only true long lasting trend in our world. Trend is ever changing, replacing by new elements in a moment notice. Classic elements always manage to stay afloat in people’s eyes. They will reinvent, reemerge, and expand itself with new ideas to be the one true everlasting trend, the ultimate perfection and sophistication, also is the state of simplicity at its finest. Vintage is an aged, rare, yet beloved by all, just like the Classic, it is always a standing icon, we will use iconic colors akin to red, white, and black with embroidered technique to represent the never failing Classic and Vintage. Silky and lacelike fabrics will be infused with floral prints/patterns.

TRANSPARENCY Technologies plays a vital role in the advancement of our society. It’s certainly not wrong to state that Internet is the greatest achievement of technology so far. Perhaps the most controversy issue recently due to the appearance of internet is the urge of having a Transparent Society. In a near foreseeable future, people will want to have a mind with Clarity, the right to access information freely. Transparency will be essential to our society, and opacity won’t be tolerated. We will want surroundings composed of clarity. A cluster of distinctive people overlapping and intertwining in a way to make our society as one, we will create layers and depths by colors to imitate the constitution of society. Organza, silky, and zig-zag pleating fabrics will be integrated into the design with irregular shape to create apparel, where colorlayering is visible to the eye, to mimick the Transparency state of our surroundings.
