Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2012

Nisimazine They call it Black Nights Film Festival, but for us the nights are white. Not because we are howling at the moon, but because we are busy watching the films in the Tridens Herring and North American Indies competitions. This is only the first of our 7 newsletters. At the stroke of midnight the work had just begun and today we’re able to share with you reviews of Loving (an emotional story by Polish director Sławomir Fabicki) and Oh Boy! (which already sold out both its screenings here at PÖFF). Also, check out the video of our cozy chat with Cory McAbee, independent director, producer, musician, actor and loving father.

After last year’s Oscar winning success of The Artist it seems though that colourless films are primed for a new wider commercial appeal. So debutant German director Jan Ole Gerster steps on the stage with his Oh Boy, a blend of absurd comedy and characterbased drama. read more
