T H E
S E T T L E M E N T
1903 – A journey for the Foochow people who want to rescue themselves from the tough situation and pre pare to accept the unknown challenges. In the mean time, challenges are gifts that force them to search for a new center of gravity where it allows them to increase their quality of lifestyles.
Nevertheless, the government had a few proposals for these undeveloped places. Government decides to immigrants the Chinese to accomplish the proposals which there are a few successful immigrant cases in Sibu Sarawak. 363 person was immigrants from china to Sitiawan and living at the attap house that are surrounded with forest which were provided by the government.
Afterwards, emigrants have been waiting for the land promised by the government for a long time. Later, the promised land by government was actually 10 acres but only 3 acres was given. Therefore, some of them feel confused, overwhelmed, scared of the scourge that immigrants together with them.
A G R I C U L T U R A L Rice Cultivation
After the land was gifted to the people, the government gave them the opportunity to start their agriculture harvesting such as rice cultivation, furnished with the gems and seedlings of sweet potatoes and cabbages of nanyang origin but proved unsuitable for local soil. There is no income.
It was a tough time for them therefore they change their it to harvesting crops and raise pig instead in order to generate more income.
Afterward, the arriv -
al of rubber in Malaya in the early twentieth century witnessed a shift towards rubber planting. Sitiawan Methodist mission acquired land concessions for rubber planting, promise to pay 20 cents for each rubber tree planted. Therefore, this was the changes and op portunity that some Foochow get wealthy at that times

1942 - The Second World War brought hardship to the town, which continued with the declaration of the Ma layan Emergency in 1948. Most areas in Perak were classified as “black areas”, and Sitiawan’s dispersed settlement and vast rubber plantations were advantageous to the communist guerrillas. According to the documentary, which the people tell that some of them are hiding in the jungle for around three to four years to escape from the gun down.

After the sec ond world war, agriculture such as rubber plantation began to slowly develop in which most of the settlement are involved. The hard work of reclaiming acres of rub ber plantations finally brought a bumper harvest. Is one of the reasons which makes Foochow people at that time getting wealthy.
In the late 19th century, the popularity of oil palm plantations has begun. The process of rubber harvesting is very difficult and requires a lot of hard manmade work. Therefore, by compare between oil palm industry and rubber harvesting. It resulting that the palm oil ind ustry are relatively easy. And also it re quires shorter time comparing to rubber harvesting.

with the town development of Sitiawan. The people slowly developed this place from a forest, kampung until today a small city. But still, waiting for more further development.
The pioneering spirit of Fuzhou people, hope the younger generation can inherit it. When the ancestors came to Malaya, they had nothing, no good living conditions, no good education conditions. At that time they can be said to be foreign workers, a foreign worker from China. But they can open up a whole new world, from nothing to today’s economy, today’s development.
The platform in this model is to display the different level challenges of the people which at the same times also represent the emotions they had neither success not failure towards the challenges .
The path is to reclaim the physical heart of the people and completes connections to their experiences and challenges that they’re faced neither failure nor success where it originally envisioned the cycle of life. It is to vastly enhance the desire to explore for a better life upon sightlines towards the challenges they will facing.
This supporting structure is like icing on the cake, it represents their experiences and setbacks that have created a better future for them.

Multi crop system in oil palm plantations could improve the health of the soil, bring back the wildlife. Diversity of plantation means organic materials build up the soil which would become chemical-free, the chemical is away more wildlife is coming to the farm and cooperating in sort of happy family ways.
Each platform represent each different seasonal fruit that also in high demand of production, the oil palm also with the high demand for production.

Alternative way of the oil palm waste – Bio-Fuels , Bio-Energy By using the empty fruit brunches, kernel shells and palm oil mill waste to producing a more sustainable bio-fuels which compares to the current fossil fuels for the transportation. Bio-fuels the renewable, alternative energy source that can be made from palm oil and only release ¼ of cardon dioxide that conventional diesel releases. Environ mental friendly than fossil fuels.
In fact, bioenergy as alternative renewable energy could provide a large perspective for the develop ment of biofuels in future.
Integrating the multi-crop system, alternative ways of palm oil waste and biotechnology engineering to represent a more sustainable and environmentally friendly of the oil palm to the nature.
Palm tree is a huge contributing factor in the reduction of Global warming but have to ensure that from palm oil plantation, industry and products those are in very environmental friendly and sustainable palm oil.
