Breville Juicer Campaign Ad Design & Environmental Applications •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

CHALLENGE

Breville, an international manufacturer, specializes in small kitchen appliances. The goal of this campaign was to promote a variety of juicers offered by Breville. Although these juicers are sleek, high-quality appliances, in a market of many different choices, they lack a strong Unique Selling Proposition (USP). The goal was to create a sense of energy and boldness; to encourage the consumer to view the Breville juicer as an exciting way to be healthy.

SOLUTION Combining clever three-dimensional headlines with dynamic arrangements of fruit, bold illustrations were created for each advertisement. The ads also use bright colors and radial lines to create excitement and aesthetic appeal. The image of the juicer contrasts nicely against the bold background, and the sub-headline reads “squeeze the most out of life.” The ads are displayed in public, urban areas, such as bus stops, airports, and on billboards. The colorful, dynamic ads are intended to quickly catch the the consumers attention and create a feeling of interest and excitement.

Integrate Magazines Editorial Design • Typography •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

CHALLENGE Integrate Magazine is a new publication on sustainable design in architecture, interior, industrial, and graphic design. It is a monthly magazine that features articles from these four fields of design, and is targeted at creative professionals. Accustomed to design at a high level, the viewer requires a combination of sophisticated content, and design with a creative edge.

SOLUTION

Striking imagery is coupled with expressive type to engage the viewer. The layout of the type is clean and sophisticated, but is also frequently used in unconventional ways to act as a graphic element. Expressive type structures were used to reinforce the message of each article. The choice of imagery, layout, and typographic solutions all work together to create visual interest for the reader.

poetry reading event sponsored by the New England Poetry Society. The event features readings from a selection of works by Robert Frost. Frost is known for his realistic depictions of rural life, and his ability to comment on the human condition. The goal of the poster is to use imagery and type, that will interest the viewer and persuade them to attend the event.

expressive qualities of poetry, the concept was to create illustrations using the type from a poem by Frost titled “Birches,” a poem about life and nature. The line “Earth is the right place for love” was used to give further meaning to the illustrations and to emphasize the sentimental and perceptive nature of Frost’s poetry. A series of similar illustrations were created to be used for other events put on by the New England Poetry Society.

Typeface Design: Plexicut Typography • Poster Design •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

CHALLENGE For this project, the challenge was to develop a new bitmap typeface for electronic interfaces. The font needed to be legiable at a very small size. The typeface was also to be formatted as a working digital font.

SOLUTION

Inspired by the traditional craft of cross-stitching, unique patterns of pixels were used to create each character. This traditional look is contrasted by the modern digital applications of bitmap typefaces. The name Plexicut was chosen to emulate the angular and geometric look of the characters. The characters were then deconstructed and arranged to make a quilt-like effect to showcase the new typeface. Fonstruct.com was used to generate the characters into a usable font.

The boxes are made out of wood and are combined with fabric and other textures to create a very tactile experience for the consumer..

CHALLENGE

Create a name, logo, and identity system for a new restaurant opening in Jacksonville, Florida. The resaurant serves authentic Mediterranean food, offering modern and casual, lunch and dinner dining. The branding elements include: a menu, uniform, dishes, and merchandise for the cafe.

The logo has a modern feel, and the colors can be interchanged to create variable design elements.
