INTRODUCTION First, I would like to welcome you to my portfolio! Take a look inside and get to know more about me and the work I produce. I am a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Technology. I am passionate about the work that I produce; I show that through providing the highest quality output. My clients are my inspiration and they look to me to produce media that not only meets their criteria, but is also functional and effective. I find so much joy in producing work that exceeds their expectations. I am actively seeking a career opportunity that I can build upon. I want to provide my passion, talent, and refined design skill to my employer and clients. I am also looking to learn and grow as a designer. I want new experiences. Challenges. Things that push me out of my comfort zone. Design is never stagnant, and neither am I.

SAINTS PETER AND PAUL YOUTH GROUP, BEAVER, PA The youth minister of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish came to me looking for some designs. It is his first year as youth minister and the youth group is in its infancy. He wanted to see more of a professional and uniform look among their media. So it was my job to create a brand for them. My first recommendation was to develop a color palette. Having a strong color palette is vital for good brand representation. Secondly, I recommended designing the logo to represent the name of the church. Each saint has an article that represents them. Saint Peter has the keys and Saint Paul has the sword. So I combined these two items to create their logo. The youth minister recommended adding text to specify that it was the youth group’s logo. So I added the name, the specification of the youth group, and the year that the church was founded. Finally, the youth minister asked for some posters and flyers. I used simple, easy to read fonts and eye catching colors. We then worked together to modify each item to match his requirements and develop a final product to mass produce.

JAMESTOWN CONTAINER COMPANIES, MACEDONIA, OH My client, Jamestown Container Companies, came to me looking for a few very specific items. First, they requested a new business card design. I advised to use the logo that is used on all of their items. This updated the look of the card and the logo. Then I recommended changing the title font to match the logo font. I also changed the subtext font to update the look of the card, making it more modern, but still easy to read. For the back of the card, I decided to add the logo and flood the background in blue. This gives both sides interest and usability. (More Jamestown items located on the following pages)

The next item is a form that they had requested. This form tracks the entrance of new projects from account managers, through the designers, then finally to the customer service representatives. This form contains all of the information to keep track of what company is doing the ordering, what designs and files are associated with those designs, and how much it will cost. It creates accountability from all departments of the company and easily tracks where mistakes may have been made. I created it to be an Excel- esque form. I then uploaded it into Excel and made it a digital form. This way, account managers can easily enter information while they are talking to customers, then e-mail it directly to the designers. This not only makes it easier for designers not having to decode handwriting, but also saves paper and creates a digital trail of the order.

The final item is a computer stand. When the box is folded up correctly, the computer stand itself fits into the oval cut in the center. There is a support piece separately cut to fit inside for the computer to stand on. I created the shape and design of the box in Artios CAD, and created the graphics in Adobe Illustrator. Since there is a crossover with these two applications, I easily transferred the CAD design file into Illustrator to correctly size the graphics. After printing the graphics, I applied them to the corrugated cardboard using adhesive printable vinyl, then aligned the die cutter and cut samples of the box. I find this process challenging, but fun. Packaging designs are some of my favorite projects to date.

SOLID GREEN/ GREENCORR FOR GREENPAC, LLC. NIAGARA FALLS, NY “Opened July, 2013 in Niagara Falls, New York. A state of the art linerboard facility manufacturing 100% recycled liner and using the most energy-efficient processes in North America, with the least amount of waste going to a landfill. Our packaging is now very sustainable and environmentally friendly. Greenpac, LLC had made a request to me for a logo for their linerboard. They were still deciding on the name when I was designing this logo. I wanted to create a logo that was realistic, representing the recycled paper that is being created.

BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY, BOWLING GREEN, OH Bowling Green State University Office of Sustainability was looking for packaging design to educate students about sustainable packaging. They requested a box to hold a water bottle, and have an insert to provide information on sustainability. The insert is also meant to hold the water bottle in place. I decided to create a natural looking, crate style, box. I used Artios CAD to create the shape and design of the box, and created the graphics in Adobe Illustrator. This is how I first learned to transfer the CAD design file into Illustrator. After printing the graphics, I applied them to the corrugated cardboard using adhesive printable vinyl, then aligned the die cutter to the crop marks on the graphics. This is a difficult process since the cut is blind. The graphics must be face down so that the die cut knife does not damage the graphics. If the die cut is not correctly placed, the graphics will be off-center and the whole process must be restarted.

C.B. GRAPHICS,

PARMA, OH

During my time working for C.B. Graphics, I was offered many opportunities. I worked one-on-one with clients, getting to know their businesses and developing a personal relationship with each customer. This helped me create better, more personal designs for each of them. Clients were much more satisfied with the outcome when there was a personal relationship created, as well as a personalized design. This approach meant that we had more return customers and also many productive referrals. The first project (shown on the next page) is the Med Drop box I created graphics for. The local police and fire department was looking for graphics to put on their new medication drop box. A simple, clean design was in order. The client was very satisfied with the clean, clear, and effective design. (More C.B. Graphics items located on the following pages)

For this project, I worked with the HBA of Cleveland to develop signs for their Parade of Homes. I kept it simple, yet colorful to attract attention. It also coordinated with the color scheme of their website.

This sign was created for Cleveland Die and Manufacturing. It was originally created in Illustrator, die cut out of adhesive vinyl, and adhered to a metal sign. The sign was then installed. The 3M vinyl that I used is intended to last about 5 years, retaining its look even when outside. So this sign will last for this company for quite some time.

Both of these vehicles were brought in for graphics. I created solutions for each of them using Adobe Illustrator. I took photos of the vehicls and measurements and then created a document size that was to size with the vehicle. Then I created mock-ups for the customer’s approval. I then created a die cut of the graphics on adhesive vinyl, and carefully installed them on the vehicles.
