Inspiring Mums and Daughters Saturday 25th March 2017 1pm to 5pm An project

We are delighted to announce our next Inspiring Females event: Inspiring Mums and Daughters.

Event content so far

When we asked all of our girls 'What inspired them' at our inaugural Inspiring Females event, we were delighted that a resounding number of girls responded with 'my mum'. Several mothers also shared their appreciation for the IF programme and wished that they could experience this or get involved.

• Fun, wellbeing sessions designed for mums and daughters, including Meditation, Yoga and Creative Writing. • A range of motivational and educational workshops, covering subjects such as 'Emotional Buoyancy', 'How to start your own small business' and 'The needs of mothers and daughters'. • A Q&A panel session hosted by our amazing guests, covering a wide variety of topics about the joys (and challenges) of being a mother or daughter. • A delicious afternoon tea • A brand new Laughter yoga session with Beverley Bishop.

Following this invaluable feedback, and with the help of our amazing IF steering group, we have shaped an exciting new event designed specially for mums and their daughters. To the right is a flavour of the content for the afternoon, with further details to be shared over the coming weeks. Special mother AND daughter tickets will cost only £10, including a Mother's Day goody bag and afternoon tea. We will contact you very soon with more information and how to purchase tickets. Sixth Form language immersion cultural trip to Paris A group of Sixth Formers accompanied by Miss Gaul, Mrs Gibson and our French assistante, Aurore, travelled to Paris to immerse themselves in every element of the city’s culture and language. The group were welcomed at Gare du Nord by their animateur Juju. During their time in Paris, the girls visited the Monet museum, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées and of course the Eiffel Tower.

The trip was a success and greatly improved the girls’ confidence in speaking and understanding French. Immersing themselves in the language for six days was the perfect opportunity to practice for their AS or A2 oral exams later in the year.

A Norwich High alumna gave the girls a tour of the University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP) before they took in a lecture about the museum of immigration and how it reflects on colonisation. It was a great experience for the girls who had visited the museum the previous day – and a huge achievement to understand a full a university lecture in French! Afterwards they returned to their 'résidence' for a meeting with a representative of SOS Racisme, covering topics which the girls will discuss in their oral exam. It was extremely challenging linguistically but, once again, the girls did really well and felt a real sense of achievement.
