Emily J. Young Interior Design Portfolio August 2015-December 2018
As an interior designer, I aim to design spaces that impact its users. Ones which tell a story about those who enjoy the space. I believe that successful interior design isn’t always obvious. It’s not solely making a space that looks pretty because even the prettiest space can be very dysfunctional for its occupants. To me, successful design is very personal to the person who occupies the space and thus as an interior designer I believe that I must work hard to make spaces be what the client needs. I aim to design spaces that enable the occupants to be the best version of themselves.
Fall 2015
Dream home project -pg 3 we were given a floorplan and it was primarily an excersise in our photoshop skills. this was one of the first design projects we did during our first semester of our specific program Spring 2016
Luxury home project - pg 5 This was our first full design project. We were given a ficticious couple with infor mation about their life and what they needed in their luxury home. We delt with the challenge of designing a home for multi generations. We had to pick a historical style to influence our design. I selected to be inspired by japanese style. It forced me to experiement and push myself to design in a style that was very different from my own personal style. It allowed me to learn how to separate my own personal style from my design work. Spring 2017
Panama Pacifico Project - Pg 8 This was our semester project. It was a group project. Along with two very talented fellow students we designed a assisted living community. it was a multi building project and we split the work up evenly. this was the first project in which we were required to create a full set of construction documents for. This project taught me more about designing colabratively. What you see here is only part of the project and represents my solo parts of our project.
