on’t you want to wear shiny, beautiful, wonderful and cool clothes? People don’t use technology only for computers, we also use technology for fashion. There are lots and lots of Technology fashion that had been invented. It can be an advantage, but also disadvantage. Some people think that technology in fashion brings the coolness of the person, and it makes person look more unique. But on the other hand, people say that it is just a waste of money, because even they make it, people wouldn’t be able to buy it because it would be too expensive for normal people. How about you? Do you agree with it or not? Technology in fashion is we use technology for our clothes, accessories… It can make the person more cool and unique by wearing those things. Many famous singers and models wear those cloths for special days. Even not with cloth, we also have for bags, umbrellas, shoes, glasses, and jackets. There is a bag with TV, so that we can watch TV programs when we have our bags. But the disadvantage of that is it would be really heavy, because the TV is actually inside the bag. For shoes, we have a tiny TV attached to our shoe. For umbrellas, we can watch a YouTube video in the rain; the screen is shown at the water-repellent cloth. Also we have some special glasses for watching videos. Like this, there is lots of invention of Technology FOR FASHION. There is another invention, not shining nor watching TV or videos. There is a transformer clothes. When we click on the button, and then the cloths will move, change its shape. This was first invented in 2007. Then, who created this wonderful fashion? A Chinese designer called ‘Vega Wang’, she par ticipate in The Creators Project, to create this EL collection (Technology in Fashion). She wanted to show audience a visual exhibition, so she borrowed an idea from UFO, and many production companies from Hangzhou helped them to complete the exhibition. She said the inspiration for

those collections comes from the idea of universe, and its title is called ‘Alpha Lyrae’. It is called ‘Alpha Lyrae’ because the name Vega is one of the common names for Alpha Lyrae, so she always felt a strong connection with this name. Also, Lyra is goddess of weaving. So since she worked with fashion, she always wanted to name a collection after her. Vega wanted to print patterns of nebula, which is a cloud of dust and gas, which produce new stars, in space, exactly onto the fabric. But then she noticed the best way to separate light and cloth was using materials with white and clean surfaces, and combining that with * EL material that has a blue glow on it that looks unusual, like coming from future. They had a sheet of EL paper, and its basic color is blue. They also have some sheets that animations are printed. They are animated like stars and clouds when people turn on. They first move the design they have into Al on the computer, and then people can cut the sheets according to Vega’s design. Each clothes have a controller, and it has the animations and the programming. Like this, technology is not only for computers it is also for fashion. If you thought technology was only for computers or other cool things that is not related to fashion, maybe this is the time you could think about it. How long do you think you will be able to go without your electronic devices? These days laptops, computers, smartphones are everywhere in our lives. Lots of people have their devices with them all the time and might not be able to go without it for a long time. These devices have almost become one of our daily needs. Most of us use them every day to go on the internet, chat with friends, listen to music, take photos, we do these all the time. These devices have changed the way we live. Ipads The first ipads have been brought to us in 2010 by Apple. The first iPad was released on April 3, 2010; the most recent iPad models, the iPad Air and second generation iPad Mini, were revealed on October 22, 2013 and went on sale November 1, 2013, and November 12, 2013. 1st generation: April 3, 2010 , 2 generation: March 11, 2011 (United States), March 25, 2011 (International), 3rd generation: March 16, 2012, 4th generation & Mini 1st generation: November 2, 2012, Air: November 1, 2013, Mini 2: November 12, 2013, Air 2 & Mini 3: October 22, 2014. There have been six versions of the iPadand three versions of ipad mini. At first not very many people liked it but when they actually held it they thought it was awesome. Ipads are like an electronic book but you can also listen to music, play games, or work on it. One of the benefits of ipads are that they can help us in education. You can download electronic books or other programs that can be used in our learning. You can also use ipads to work on some programs, or just for listening to music. They are also used by business people. One of the advantages of the Apple iPad is that it is easy to use and navigate. You can learn how to use it very fast. You can also use facetime to communicate with friends and share what you are doing or have a video talk with them. Another thing is that ipad is portable and you can take it with you all the time. EReader is a very useful electronic book reader and you can read any books you can find. Siri is very cool as you can just talk to your ipad and give commands easily without having actually to move. Some people would just use ipads for playing games and wasting time. Like certain iOS devices, the iPad can be “jailbroken”, depending on which version of iOS it is running, thus allowing applications and programs that are not authorized by Apple to run on the device.

Once it is jailbroken, users are able to download many applications previously unavailable through the App Store like illegally pirated applications.The use of ipads in a long period of time will harm our eyes a lot. The damage of watching an ipad for half an hour is equal to the damage of watching tv for a whole hour. Some companies are adopting iPads in their business offices by distributing or making available iPads to employees. They use it in their work. The iPad also has several uses in the classroom, and has been praised as a valuable tool for homeschooling. Soon after the iPad was released, it was reported that 81% of the top book apps were for children. The iPad has also been called a useful tool to help children with autism learn how to communicate and socialize more easily.

ROBOT CLEANER NECESSITY VS LUXURY The Dirt Dog or Robot Cleaner had been invented for cleaning the floors. Now, the technology has improved so much and is very common in the world that it is even used in the cleaning, so people can live an easier life. People think cleaning the house is actually a waste of time and is very hard labour, therefore the inventors invented this very surprising and ingenious device. You just have to leave it in the house and it automatically cleans the room. It saves a lot of people’s time and allows them to be doing something else rather than cleaning. However, is it really necessary? Also, is it worthy to spend money on that? As you can already see now, there are a lot of discussions of whether the Dirt Dog is a necessity or luxury. Dirt Dog is a circle-shape cleaning machine that cleans the floor. It made our lives better by replacing robots to do hard labour. This machine has a lot of advantages. First, operating the Dirt Dog is also very easy. There are two ways to operate it. One is using the remote control and one is just an automatic cleaner. The remote control one is using the remote control to say the direction. There’s a laser attached to the remote and the Dirt Dog will follow the laser point and clean the floor. This function will make cleaning the house much more fun and even kids can help their parents for cleaning. For the automatic one, you just have to turn it on and leave it on the floor and it will clean the floor by itself. So that’s all you need to do. Furthermore, this machine helps us to save our valuable time. From now on with this Dirt Dog, you won’t have to bother cleaning your room floor. Instead using your precious time on cleaning, you can do something else. You can even clean the house while you are away. In addition, the vacuum is very strong so it is very effective when cleaning. It can hoover up all the dust. Moreover, people don’t have to worry about this machine falling off down the stairs or bumping to furniture, because it will automatically turn away if it meets furniture or a stairs. So it will not fall down or get stuck on the furniture. Lastly, this machine can go under the furniture where we can’t reach so this machine is very useful and effective at cleaning. Therefore the dirt dog provides easier and convenient life to us.

Furthermore, it can also bring some bad effect to us in the future. Technology is now very developed so every people want to live the world easily by using the technology to do things such as cooking, cleaning, driving, etc. And they will rely and be dependent on the technology. But if people start to do that, in the near future, the movie called “Wall E” and “The Lorax” we’ve seen will become reality soon. Furthermore, people can lose jobs because the robots are replacing them, which can cause severe economical issues for labourers in third world countries. In addition, the dirt dogs are very small. Small can be an advantage but also can be disadvantage. If it is too small, there will be smaller space to store the dust and you might have to use a lot of time for emptying the machine frequently. So this can be very annoying and bother people a lot. Moreover, when you use them, you have to remove some things on the floor that can damage the robot such as power cords, papers, other things that is big which cause problem during sucking dusts for the machine.

As you have read, there are endless discussions of “does the dirt dog a necessity or luxury”. In my personal opinion, I think it is luxury, because although this machine is very creative and helpful product, it still have quite high price. Also I believe that using energies for those little things just to live life easier, I think it is actually wasting our energy. So there are many disadvantages of the dirt dog, at the same time, we all have to admit that it is very helpful, saves our time, and makes our life easier. Therefore buying a new dirt dog can be a very exciting and attractive. But just make sure, you should think why you are buying it and consider the pros and cons about this machine.

Improvement of technology and bionic suit Technology is now being controversial for its identity. Some people say that technology is a necessity, but the others say that it is a luxury. Based on a survey on Taihu International School M2-3 students, 100% said that technology is a necessity because of various reasons. All of them said that the technology is necessity because we could not have achieved such a convenient life like this if we didn’t have technology. Some said that the technology is a necessity because everything in our world is made and developed by technology. I think that technology is a necessity. I saw some videos showing examples of things that are created and developed by technology. Technology made our lives improve a lot more and gave hope to a lot of people.

For example, a wearable robot, which helps disabled to walk called bionic suit, helped disabled woman to finish the whole marathon course. The bionic suit has developed a lot too. The existing bionic suit was using a terrible electric implant to make spinal cord and brain to work together. It made patients able to walk however, but needed to endure a terrible damage. The new bionic suit has solved that problem. It is not connecting to patient’s nerve or muscle and does not use any electrical impulse. The technology has made the existing product be affordable. If I were that patient who couldn’t move freely, I

would really appreciate the development of the bionic suit. It would change my whole life, allowing me to achieve a better quality of life. The merit of technology is that it can help other people to achieve a better life, but there are also negatives. Some criminals can abuse it for bad use. Some can use internet to hack others to get private information and money from them. Also, they can use email systems to send blackmail or advertise various junk products. It can be used to commit crimes if not used properly. In conclusion, I think that the technology is the necessity. It has more merit than negatives. For example, the invention of bionic suit has given physically disabled patients a chance to move. Also, the bionic suit itself has also developed as time past.

Before if they try to communicate with other countries king or people who is far away they sent letter or go to that place and it was very hard and it took long time also. If they used birds to send the letter, they have to train their birds very well to use bird to send the letters. If they use their servant or postman it took long time and they also have to pay for them, and it was also hard to give the letter to correct places before. Now it is different, we can send e-mail easily or have a call. Electronic devices are also very comfortable to use, smart phones or laptops. We can carry them everywhere. These programs can send message easily and also can do video call function, so that some family who stay far away can see each other. And you don’t need to pay, its free, you only need Wi-Fi to use these. We also use this technology at education. At school, for example our school uses the program called ‘edmodo.com’. Teachers use this program to tell the students homework and do the quiz too. It also tells us what to study at test too. The weakness of the communication technology is that can be used by criminal, drug seller, weapon trader or state secret can be revealed by some bad people. They can also use this technology to put virus in others computer or other devices and can hack others things. Also can use this technology for advertising things illegally such as calling people and say some things that have been recorded can also send some spam messages to you which is very annoying. So I think communication technology is necessity because as I said, it helped us a lot in many different ways, but some bad people use it in bad ways too.

INDUSTRIAL MACHINES Our magazine is made for teenagers. This magazine is about “Is technology necessity or luxury?” Technology is necessity. Because if we don’t have technology, our life can’t be developed. In school, if we don’t have technology, it’s hard to study. In survey, 14 students out of 14 students (100%) agree that technology is necessity. There were various reasons, mostly the answer was: If we don’t have technology, our life couldn’t be developed. Are machines necessity or luxury? Machines make our life comfortable. People have limited power to do something, but machines don’t stop if people gives electricity or fuel to them. Machine can do everything that humans can’t do. When there’s a disaster, some places are too small that people can’t pass through, so rescue rangers use a small machine that can pass through the obstruction. When terror, rescue rangers used a rescue machine to rescue people in the building. In factory, machine mostly uses to make something. But if people makes it, it takes very long time to make. So factory uses machine to make, but people checks final one. If society keep starts using machine to work, people will be losing their jobs. Because in factory, machines are faster than humans, more accurate than humans, and humans works for limited time because they get tired, but machines can work for unlimited time. If there’s no machines in a factory, people need to work it all by their hand, so it will take a lot of time to finish one work, and factory needs to pay much than average payment, so many factory mostly uses the machine, and managers for human Advantage for using machines: They are faster than humans so they can do or finish something faster than humans, also machines are more accurate than humans. Humans have limited power to do, but machine can do for unlimited. Managers don’t need to pay machine. Disadvantage for using machine: If there’s an error, before managers knows, machine keeps doing same thing over and over. Before machines start something, it needs a hard programing words has to submit in to them. If people depend on machine too much, a machine will take human jobs. In conclusion, technology is necessity. Technology has more advantages than disadvantages. By technology, it helped to develop our lives, and machines have developed to making something for factory, and it was more accurate and faster than human. ic insecticide produced by GM corn was found in the blood of pregnant women and their unborn children. Several health problems have increased after GM crops were introduced in 1996. The percentage of Americans with three or more chronic illnesses has spiked from 7% to 13% in just 8 years; food allergies increased dramatically, and disorders such as autism, reproductive disorders, digestive problems, and others are continuing to rise. Besides having many negative effects on human health GMOs are also harmful towards the environment. According to the IRT, herbicides used on GM crops can harm birds, insects, amphibians, marine ecosystems, and soil organisms. They diminish bio-diversity, pollute our water resources and are very unsustainable this has a tremendous impact on our environment. Certain herbicides have been shown to cause birth defects in amphibians, embryonic deaths, endocrine disruptions, and organ damage in animals even at very small doses. More and more GM crops has also increase week tolerance to herbicide, only pushing people to attempt and use more and more herbicides or pesticides that potentially harm our environment. Now that you know all these facts about GM food, the next time you go to a grocery or super market, think twice before you pick any food up. Career and suicide for chinese Apple workers Have you ever bought and Apple device? People hurrying to go and buy the new iPhone, people screaming and amazed about the “coming soon”, people that when they bought an iPhone are shocked and in a hurry to try and use it, but… do we actually think about the work behind an iPhone? Do we think about the people that made it and how they worked hard? Well, we should because if they were not there working then our iPhones would not be even sold. Many people think that Apple is the best brand for electronic devices and there is nothing wrong with that but we should look more behind the phones and their design and function. We should learn more about the work to make those phones and how the workers are treated. It has been known that in the company Apple of Shenzhen, 13 Chinese workers started developing cancer. It has been diagnosed that they had leukaemia and five of them died. The cancer which affected the workers was found out in 2010 for the first time. By an interview with Suki Chung, the director of Labor Action China, we found out that the workers had to pay their medical coverage, which is a big amount of money for them. She also claimed that benzene and n-hexane chemicals used in the assembly lines of the iPhone and iPad are likely to be the cause of cancer and also families believe it. However Foxconn, the Taiwan-based owner of the factory making products for other companies, said those chemicals aren’t used anymore and there is no link between the cancer spike and the chemicals used. Therefore he confirms that the workers who had leukaemia had different roles in the company that might not even need the use of any chemical. So we have two different opinions. The actual Apple Company is worried about this fact and is taking everything really seriously where about two million iPhones a week are made by an army of 230,000 migrant workers from across China. This is kind of a mystery but it’s not all; besides the issue of the cancer, a Chinese Foxconn worker (the manufacturer that makes most of the Apple devices) committed suicide on Wednesday by jumping from his apartment. This is not the first case because there had been a plague of suicides in the factory since years. Advocates around the world examined the conditions at Foxconn’s factories and admitted that workers frequently have to stay on their feet for long hours for assembly tasks. Many live in horrible dormitory and often work every day including weekends. Though many workers prefer longer hours and worked 60 hours per week so they can make more money they weren’t paid as they were supposed to and we know this by an interview with them. Unluckily, this is the truth and tragedy behind the phones that we use every day, which are like a necessity for us. Would it be better if an amount of money that we pay for the phones would go to the workers¬?

According to some articles there are some schools that use ipads as a notebook for all the subjects they have instead of breaking their backs with giant backpacks that weigh 50 kg from books. Having ipads in school has some benefits like you don’t have to carry a giant bag of who knows how many kg of books, it is lighter and an easier

and more organized system, but some people have commented that ipads are also a distraction for students, instead of paying attention and socializing they are distracted playing a game or chatting with someone. But according to another article a mother wrote about her son with autism, the ipad has a system called siri which has been the best friend to the kid because siri is a voice recognition system that helps you with the actions you do in your ipad or iphone instead of doing it yourself and also it tells you things like the weather or other things you don’t know because the kid can get obsessed with something and people can get annoyed so siri which is as a system that doesn’t get annoyed can help the kid to talk with someone without it getting annoyed. Ipads also work a search engine instead of causing trouble by booking the computer lab, they can do it by their selves in their classrooms, but according to a page there is a comment from someone that the children cant use their personal information in the ipad if they have to be sharing it with other kids. To solve this, kids could bring their own ipads so the other kids can use their personal information on the ipads. Great content viewer, the Ipad is the perfect mobile device for viewing content. One solution to ease some of the financial burden would be to allow BYOD or even for schools to purchase the cheaper iPad mini instead. In my class there was 46.6 percent of people think that mobile wallet is necessity and 53.3 percent of people think that the mobile wallet is luxury.

Every time when you go to shopping you normally use credit card, and you can loss or even get hacked or what ever, but now there is some kind of credit card on the phones or some smartphones for example apple, samsung and more it is called mobile wallet or you can call it a Contact-less debit card. The mobile wallet is a app on the phone that can pay using credit card, debit card, key fobs, smart card or other devices that uses radio-frequency identification for making secure payments, it is just like a moving bank that you can bring everyday to any where you wanted. Mobile payment has been used in different ways all over the world, at 2008 it combined a lot of payments and projected to reach more than $600B by 2013 globally. All you have to do is to scan your phone with the app open and put it above the POS and it will take the money off your card and then the payment is done. But the problem is that is it really necessity or luxury. There will be 1 out of 5 people is using mobile wallet. something bad is that if the payment is not clear it will become a dominant. It can not get hacked easily by some hackers, it has numbers of security features. It runs over the same chip and PIN network as normal credit and debit card transaction. PIN is the password you use when you use with the POS, and the chip is the little piece of golden thing on the credit cards, so the contact-less debit card is very secured. The mobile wallet/contactless debit card pay by choose your card you are going to use, and then you scan on the kind of POS, then you enter your PIN and then the check will be automatically pay through your card. Some people thinks that the wallet is good, here is some opinions from some peoples, some people thinks that the options are too limited and confusing, some people thinks that it has security fears.

In our lives, technology is really important. At school or academy, we learn technology but if we want to learn technology, we need money. That means, we will have some problems with technology if we don’t have much money. So what people made was a 100$ Laptop and that makes people who have less money able to learn technology and communicate.

It made by Nicholas Negroponte at 2005. He made that project and said “We only need to pay 100$ to make the laptop that I said.” So he made XO-1, which is a 100$ laptop all people can afford. We can do many things when we use that laptop. They can know news from all over the world and also, they can even study. Nicholas Negroponte said “There is two way to make cheap laptop. Cheap ingredient and use cheap workforce and for workforce, we will find at China and India. And we want to use the way that use less ingredient and make good thing.” And he and other people spend 3 years to develop this laptop. We can use laptop by moving a pedal which stick under the school desk and that pedal makes electricity and the laptop can work using that electricity. So if we don’t have to pay money for electricity. There were some problems with the 100$ laptop, Bill Gates said “This 100$ Laptop is not good for education.” and also, other people’s reaction was negative, Craig Barrett, said that “People that buy 100$ laptop, can only get 100$ information.” 100$ information means really low and bad and not enough information. So Nicholas Negroponte said “Then, I will make this laptop price 50$.” So this education technology becomes more complicated and complicated. But a few years later, they began to see the results, students can use the internet really well and also, they could study use that laptop. They can teach their parents who cannot read and they can know what happens all over the world. And also, if they have enough battery, they also can play some game or do anything they want. Over time they improved the design of the laptop. First, they used green to make this laptop, but they start to use other colors like orange and sky blue. And also, they put some motion of monitor or some keyboard to make it more comfortable and improve and also it help the children to use it easily. And also, they put handle to make transfer the laptop easier. And for that part, 100$ laptop is more comfortable. And for now on, many countries want to export to their country and that means that many people agree with purpose of laptop and skills of the 100$ laptop. If we export to country to country, many disadvantaged people can learn technology and help them for adapting at life. SMARTPHONES Now days, the most common electronic device is Smartphone. The definition of Smartphone is a mobile phone with multiple functions such as document work, mp3, playing game, etc. The difference between feature phones and Smartphone is downloading applications or not. It means Feature phones can only use functions that has, but Smartphone can download applications so you can add or delete the functions. The major companies that produce Smartphone are ‘Apple’ and ‘Samsung’. These companies have the most influence in the world market. Most of people say ‘Apple produced the FIRST Smartphone in the world’. But it’s wrong. The first Smartphone is ‘IBM Simon personal communicator’, which is made in 1992. This Smartphone was the first, but it didn’t become popular. In 2007, ‘Iphone’ has released. It is developed from ‘Ipod’, which is mp3 player. So we know as the ‘Iphone’ is the first Smartphone ever. The MOST different part of Smartphone from feature phone is application. You can download or delete application as you want, which means you can fill your Smartphone with your favorite applications. The advantages of Smartphone are accessing to Internet from anywhere, spend time quickly by playing games, listening to music, using SNS (Social Network Service) for quick communication, etc. But there are also disadvantages. It may cause myopia (hard to see things from far distance), forward head posture, Smartphone addiction, cutting off offline communication, etc. Now days, we are using Smartphone a lot. By SNS, we can communicate each other more easily, by playing games and listen to music, we can spend our time more fun.
