Kandinsky Inspired Collection

The intention of my collection is to transport the woman to a world where she feels the clothes she wears makes her who she is. The sensory overload of shapes, colors, lines, and mix of textures emotionally completes her soul.

Paper Doll

Developed a collection of separates using a method of snap closures.

Modern Mermaidens Watercolored and inspired by the mysterious mermaid muse.

Graphic Research

Insect Repeats Hand drawn butterflies are reflected to make a finished scarf. Correlating insect theme color chart and beetle flat sketch idea included.

Graphic Designs

Graphic designs created while on co-op. Left: Repeating prints made at Chico’s FAS on the NED program. Right: Graphic design that I styled, shot, and edited at American Eagle Outfitters.

Corporate Sketching

My own generated sketches with correlating images created while working at American Eagle Outfitters.

Design Creations

Illuminating Beauty This cocoon dress and separate shawl were inspired by the play on light. Iridescent fabrications led to the mix of line and curve within the silhouette. It is comprised of transparent and rusty-burgundy lame, teal metallic twill, and gold bias binding.

Knitwear

The depth in auras and the beauty in layers of rock influenced this machine knitted dress. Dress, collar, and leg accessory patterned and knitted by me. Dropped stitch sleeves and a button collar enhance the dress’s details.

Evening Drape

An elegant draped look was created with the use of princess lines through the bodice, a waistband, and an asymmetrical circle skirt. The dress incorporates a mixture of lace and chiffon for a graceful finish.

Nouveau Jacket

This art nouveau inspired coat was tailored to perfection with the addition of a lining and welt pocket. The curves and asymmetry mimic lines seen in the art nouveau movement.

Body Wear

Cut and sewn non-woven mesh, denim, and pleather, were used to design a body wear creation inspired by balance of motocross and femininity.

Mock-Ups Left: Dress mock-up I designed, patterned, and sewed for Summer ’16. Middle: Bathing suit I designed, patterned, and sewed for Swim ’16. Right: Embellishment layout of applique I placed for Festival ’15.

Hand Dyed Kandinsky Dress One of the looks from my Kandinsky inspired collection. Hand dyed peachskin silk and fringe incorporate the essence of a painting in a dress. The pink crepe is draped to form an abstract back shape, and the black leather and side chiffon panels represent depth.

Flourish Harness

Laser cutting assisted in the precise cutting of this lambskin leather harness. The burnt edges give the flowers a crisp dimension. Nude mesh holds the straps together. Paired with a strapless chiffon blouse I made. I named the harness “Flourish as an entrepreneurship venture that could be marketed to a customer who wants to have a whimsical time accessorizing.

Capstone Collection

Splashy Process Work The title of my capstone is Splashy. Splashy has turned the seemingly innocent damsel in distress seagoddess into a gaudy force of nature. By exploring the whimsy of the imagination, Splashy challenges the glittering images of the sea to take surface in couture. She is a romantic and forward vision for not under the tide, but over the tide glamour.

Splashy Illustrations My collection will consist of six looks. The techniques and colors used throughout will be inspired by textures and elements in sea life.

Splashy Flats

Techniques used include: laser cut taffeta fish scales, fishing line hems, quilting, and elastic drawstrings.

Splashy Muslins Six preliminary muslins created before final looks are established.

Splashy Look #1

Designed and constructed. Jumpsuit body consists of organza and chiffon hem. Coat is a quilted poly pique with taffeta trim and silk georgette lining.

Splashy Look #2 Nude power mesh sea glass tattoo undershirt and a six layer flouncy underdress mimics the sand to surf colors. Organza cape flows around the dress acting as a watery illusion.

Splashy Look #3

A wavey dress incorporates more literal images found in the sea. Stiff waves and spirals dance around the hem to create dimension. Sea glass ombres up the dress to make the model seem as one with the dress.

Splashy Look #4

This blouse ties in the silhouette from look #2. Laser cut taffeta is print play around the neck. The light jade silk jersey pants create a dramatic flare such as a mermaid fin.

Splashy Look #5

This look plays up a new age athletic vibe. The light jade silk jersey romper hugs the body as the side layered cove detail reaches out. Inside the ruffles are sea glass treasures. Separate hood and elastic drawcord sleeves make add a sporty touch.

Splashy Look #6

Laser cut halter-top and quilted skirt make for a glamorous look. The wave collar wraps around neck to enhance the face. Skirt quilted to wrap around the body and flow with her movement. Bottom hem of skirt creates an ombre that looks as though she is walking on water.
