FUN

Craig Kirk

I draw on the spot and i dont keep anything in my head. I will draw when im walking down the stree t and if there is something in my head i will stop to doodle it down. I enjoy spontaneous drawing when you spontaneously draw what you put down is the truest thing and cannot always be reproduced ven if if you try again it wont have the same feeling. Believe in spontaneity. Drawing is an incredible tool for communication, it works where langua doesnt. I believe that intuitive fast sket ing is the purest form of communication you can have because it is true. Once a drawing has happened for the first time thats it, it will only happen once, if you repeat the drawing it wont be as communicative. If you are drawing someone purposefully then draw that way Draw people as you see them, bodies come in bits so think about them their pieces. Understanding the figure is the most important thing,if you under stand how it works its easier to draw. I feel the drawing when i draw to t a true translation, and i often make the expression that i am dra awing to help me reference. It is to do with the way you are think ing when you put the marks down. In drawing it is natural to have a fear of making mistakes, but you have to t over that, and not let it block you from learning. Think of it like there are no mistakes, and just draw over the top, dont be afraid to draw over what you ha ve already drawn. The quickest wayto t be er is not to worry about making mistakes. It is quite exc iting to start drawing something not knowing what you are going to a ieve. I usu y start to draw without hav ing an exact idea of what i want to produce.Dont think, just let it happen. You dont have to put every thing into a drawing just make a reference. Dont adopt a style before you can draw because you will g et stuck there, and it becomes easy to f into traps when youre drawing some hing similar to what youve drawn before. I make my own colours and backgro unds using various different meduims and i scan them to put into my own drawings and i keep them on my mac to reuse.Macs are a t out clause, you can draw bodies in bits and then put it to ther.I some tines use the i pad softwarte its c ed brushes and animates as i draw. I like to put a bit more work into the li le briefs as it makes it more enjoyable. Give a job to a b usy man, stress helps sometimes. Short deadlines are the best thing as they cant argue with you. Draw con stantly. As an artist we have a responsibility to be individual, believe in yourself other wise others wont.
