I believe architecture has the power to work with the natural environment rather than on top of it. I am a firm believer in recognising the knowledge of the First Nations of Austalia and respect the connection we all share to the land. Good design is a right for every human and community to have.

SHARA CLARKE ARTS AND CULTURAL CENTRE SITE: FRAMLINGHAM ABORIGINAL TRUST
STUDIO LEADER: YOHAN ABHAYARATNE The Shara Clarke Centre is an education and learning facility that sits within the Framlingham Aboriginal Community. The design recognises the diverse and troubled history of this place while providing new opportunities for self-led education and exploration in music and crafts. Inspired by native plants which have evolved to act in response to fire, our design moves with the wind and changes with the seasons. It creates growth, new opportunities and new stories; showing the positive side of aboriginal culture. By forging connections to past traditions we hope to weave new prospects for the future.

AUTOMATED MATTER HIGH RESOLUTION ARCHITECTURE STUDIO LEADER: JOSH LYE, ALISA ANDRASEK A generation of a new form of tectonics and heterogenity. Our team developed an idea of high resolution architecture that is adaptive to the landscape, has a multitude of forms and generates diversity in materiality, texture and connections. In an environmentally responsible age, this has never been more important. Pre-fabrication becoems a central part of this design - bringing forth questions of the material waste in construction. In order to push the limits of technology, one is challenged as much as the technology. This includes simultaneously pushing the limits of high resolution in design and 3D printing. Technology: Grasshopper, 3D Clay Printer
FIG.02 Clay 3D prints showing variation in form, patterning, texture and testing the strength and cantilevering abilities of the clay

10 STOREY EDUCATIONAL TOWER SITE: 81 BOUVERIE ST, CARLTON, VIC STUDIO LEADER: BEN TOLE Design and documentation of an educational tower for RMIT. Features included and detailed are a blue roof, steel cross-bracing, aluminium mesh facade, overhanging floors. Software: REVIT
Above: Deatil of the balcony water capture system I designed
Left: To support the 7 metre overhang, I calculated the load and cross-braced the west side of the building to transfer the load into the ground. This is an alternative to thickening the concrete slab which would have affected the height of the building.
