The beginning of the life

Did you know?

The meaning of the word dinosaur is "terrible lizard". The dinosaur word was used first by Dr. Richard Owen in 1841. The reptiles lived on the Earth, before the dinosaurs.

The life on the Earth probably began in the seas 4500 years ago but henceforth millions of years have passed until the first animal climbed out to the mainland. These were spineless; the first vertebrate animal grew 500 millions years ago. The best know prehistoric animals were the dinosaurs whose in there times ruled the air, the land and the water. But we mustn't forget that these animals lived more than 150 million years on the Earth and ruled it.

Million years ago the flora and the fauna was more different than nowadays. In that time the globe was a gigantic desert and the continents created an ancient continent, the Pangaea. But later the climate had became more hazy than long time ago. The ancient continent decomposed and turned up the seas and the continents.

Giants on the land The first dinosaurs on the land appeared 230 million years ago. They was small predators. Later appeared the gigantic dinosaurs for example: Apatosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Brachiosaurus.

Herbivores and predators The herbivores were the sauropods whose grew up gigantic. The more famous herbivores dinosaurs were the Apatosaurus and the Brachiosaurus. These dinosaurs lived in the Jurassic time and their fossils can be found on every continent except Antarctica. The “sauropod” world was used first by O. C. Marsh in 1878. The predators were the theropods or the “monster legged” whose had two legs. They were gigantic but also small and ruled the mainland.

Lords of sky The air was concurred by the Pterosaurs whose were the first flying dinosaurs. They were predators and for this reason they were quick as lightning. For example: Pteranodon, Pterosaur, Peteinosaur.

Lords of water The seas were ruled by these dinosaurs. They grew up more than 10 m. For example: Mosasaur, Sarcosuchus.

The ruin of dinosaurs One theory is that 65 million years ago a meteorite crashed into the Earth. Next the tidal waves and the volcanic eruptions played havoc on the globe: 75% of the wildlife died out. An other theory is the changing of the weather: in winter the temperature dropped under and the summers were hot; this changing destroyed the dinosaurs.
