Así nació ‘Emily and her fantastic stories’. Esperamos que lo disfruten. - 11 -

WHAT A DISASTER!
Chapter 1 - What a disaster!
My friend Emily lives in a town next to the sea. It´s a very lovely and quiet place. Everybody enjoys going to the coast and of course practising sailing. It´s their favourite sport. Last summer Emily and her family were sailing when suddenly the weather changed. It became very windy. After some minutes they saw a huge wave coming towards the boat. It is a big wave. The sky is becoming dark and the wind is blowing hard. It is raining too. There are some boats in the sea and a lot of people with their children playing, swimming and making sand castles. Emily and her family feel frightened. Their boat is shaking. They are shouting and asking for help. They start sailing to the beach. There are other boats in danger too. Everybody is afraid of the stormy weather and the big wave. - 15 -

A NEW DAY!
Chapter 2 - A new day!
It is a sunny morning and Emily is sitting on her red swing in the garden. She lives with her parents in a big house. She has got twin brothers, Tobias and Jeremy. They are seven years old. Tobias has got black hair and brown eyes and he wears glasses. Jeremy is quite different. He has got brown hair and green eyes. They are happy boys and they like playing all the time. They have got two pets, a parrot and a spider. The parrot is colourful; it is blue, red, yellow, green and orange. It is big and it can fly. Its name is Rupert. The spider is small. It is black and orange. It lives in a glass box. It can walk and climb sticks. Tobias and Jeremy love their pets. While Emily’s brothers are playing in the garden, Emily is swinging and thinking about her dream. She is looking at the green trees trying to imagine and continue the story...

Chapter 2 - A new day!
Emily and her family are lying on the sand after the huge wave took them to a big island with a lot of vegetation. The sea is calm. The weather is sunny, not windy. They feel tired, but they want to explore the place. They are hungry, too. So they start walking, looking for food. There are very tall and green palm trees. Emily can see monkeys jumping and climbing the big trees. After walking for an hour without finding any food, they are very tired. They decide to sit under a tree to have a rest. There are butterflies, parrots and birds everywhere. They can hear their songs. ‘What beautiful bugs and birds!’ Emily’s mother says. Looking at the trees they see the rainbow in the sky. They are surprised. Why? There is a white UNICORN running along the rainbow. Jeremy looks at it with wide eyes to see better. ‘It’s an UNICORN,’ he says. ‘It’s marvellous!’ But then it disappears. ‘What a pity!! Look! The UNICORN isn’t there!’ Emily shouts. - 22 -

The children want a big lunch for them and their parents. Then the powerful man does magic. A huge table full of food appears just in front of the children. The KNIGHT runs away immediately riding on the UNICORN. The children are very confused but happy. There is a big meal on a table. Everything is fantastic. They shout calling their parents. But suddenly, some monkeys appear next to the table. They are funny and crazy.

Chapter 5 - A fantastic discovery
Today they are playing hide-and-seek and Tobias runs to the barn to hide. He is surprised because, when he tries to hide behind the hay, he notices something big and strange under it. He cleans the hay off. It is a MACHINE!!! Tobias immediately calls his sister and brother. ‘What’s this?’ asks Emily. They want to know about the MACHINE. Jeremy runs to the farm and calls his grandfather. He explains about it. ‘It’s a TIME MACHINE. I invented it when I was twenty years old because I wanted to be a time traveller. I wanted to remember lovely moments I had spent with my father during my childhood. He was always giving me good advice about how to save our world from pollution.’

The children feel astonished with the TIME MACHINE and with what their grandfather is telling them. ‘Can we use it?’ Emily asks. ‘NO!!’ says their grandfather. ‘It’s dangerous. You may get trapped in the past or the future and you may not be able to come back home.’ He closes the barn door and invites the children to have dinner. The children are tired but curious. They watch TV and go to bed. At midnight Emily wakes up. As her parents and grandfather are sleeping, she calls her brothers to go back to the barn and see the TIME MACHINE again. Chapter 6 - A trip to the future
Suddenly, the TIME MACHINE stops and its door opens. The children are confused and scared. They don’t know where they are. They look around. They see a very dark city, with a lot of rubbish and pollution. The place looks very sad. There is smog all around. They can’t see the sun. Emily and her brothers start walking along the streets and they notice some places are similar to the ones of their home town: the park, the shopping mall, the pet shop, the school and the fun fair. The people in the city look depressed. The air isn’t fresh. The children aren’t playing in the streets and the pets aren’t running in the park. ‘What a miserable place!’ the children say. ‘Why aren’t the people and children enjoying the outdoor places?’ - 45 -
Chapter 6 - A trip to the future
Later they discover that the place they are visiting is their own town in the future time. They can’t believe that it has become so polluted. Then they see a boy walking sadly along the street. Emily wants to ask him what has happened. He tells them that they didn’t take care of the environment and the cars, buses, lorries and factories polluted the air. ‘How can we solve this terrible problem?’ the boy asks. ‘We can help you because we come from another time in the past,’ Jeremy explains. ‘We know how to take care of the environment. We’ll help you.’ The boy feels confused but happy. Emily and her brothers return to the TIME MACHINE because they want to go back home in the present time.

We have to save our world.’ They go to their computer and send a message to all the people in the town because they want to prevent a future polluted world. The message reads:

RECYCLE, REUSE, DON’T THROW AWAY. JUST PUT IT IN THE RECYCLING BIN
We only have one planet and one home. Look after it!!
