HOGY HOW TO: Make your own Hogy Squidbert! Here’s an example of some of the custom rigging you’ll find on Hogylures.com This deadly Hogy® modification was sent to us by a resourceful angler in the Northeast who was targeting spring stripers, which feed heavily on squid. Not satisfied with the other squid imitators on the market, the angler decided that the large profile of the 10 and 14 inch Hogy® Original was nearly identical to the large local squid the striped bass went bonkers for. With a few quick modifications and some yankee ingenuity, the Hogy® Squidbert was born, and soon became the secret weapon of top anglers in the region.

Swimbait hooks offer a weedless presentation.
Finish rigging by inserting the rear hook into the body of the lure at the far end of the hook groove and out the special indentation that ensures proper hook placement. Adjust hooks so that they are running straight.

Hogy Jig Heads
Rotate bait onto bait keeper Line up hook and note where it will enter and exit the bait. Insert hook and adjust bait so that it is straight. Bury the hook point so that it cannot pick up weeds.
WEEDLESS: Our preferred method. Attach the optional bait keeper to the center rigging eye for a weedless presentation.
Place the jighead on top of the soft bait so you can visualize where the hook should enter and exit the bait. Mark the spot with the point of the hook if necessary.
Slowly slide the jighead into the soft bait, making sure to run straight through the bait.
Grip Hook This rigging option will also INCREASE the wobble presentation of the soft bait. Just twist the bait keeper in and the embed hook in body
Insert hook into nose of the bait. If you are using a particularly heavy bait such as our 10” Hogy® Double Wide (3oz) a drop of glue secures hook in place will aid in casting performance.
Push the hook through the marked area on the top, and pull the nose of the bait flush with the jighead. Apply a small amount of glue if desired.
