Package : POWERED for SUCCESS 1 Module 1: System for SUCCESS Note: PRACTICE 1 to PRACTICE x of this MODULE have to be established up to LOCA 2, before starting to establish all other PRACTICES of POWERED FOR SUCCESS 1 and 2 PRACTICE 1 – FOCUS on THE MOST IMPORTANT Very successful people know what they really want and direct all their capabilities, efforts, resources & time on opportunities which progress them towards achievement of what they want. Your capabilities, time and resources are the only opportunities that you have to achieve what you desired. Thus you have to focus on the most important goals and associated matters / tasks / activities that are of the most significant value and / or will significantly move you towards achievement of what they want. The 20 / 80 Rule - the top 20% most important achievable opportunities and associated matters / tasks / activities contribute to achievement of 80% of the desired results. Very few matters / tasks / activities matter at all for achievement of the opportunity that you are working on. The few that do, MATTER GREATLY. Thus it is most important to determine and focus on the top 20% of most important goals and associated matters / tasks / activities. As an example, a few of a company’s products / services and customers account for most (about 80%) of its profits. By focusing on these vital few and other similar products, services and customers, it is most likely to increase the profits of the company. When you choose and start to focus on the most important, you will have no time to spend on the less important, thus your work and lives will be less chaotic, stressed and less wasting of your time, effort and resources. Sub-Practice 1.1 - MINIMIZE URGENT UNIMPORTANT ACTIVITIES When you are so caught up working on the urgent, you don’t even consider whether what you are doing is the most important or not. As a result you will be wasting a lot of your efforts, resources & time, thus you are very un likely to achieve your desired results / targets. Urgency Most of us are not aware of how urgency affects our decisions and actions. The phone rings, someone ask us to do something, someone come to see us without an appointment, etc. We tended to divert our attentions and efforts from what we are doing to the unplanned trivial matters of-the-moments. Importance The important are those matters and activities that are of significant value and / or will significantly move you towards your desired results / targets. Per the 20 / 80 Rule, success is not dependent on the amount of works that you do, it is dependent on the importance of what you do. The table below provides guidance on how to maximize your efforts, resources & time on the important activities.

Sub-Practice 1.2 – IGNORE WHAT YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT Most people tended to think / worry / talk / write in social media about matters which they cannot do anything about. They are wasting their time. Worst still, their attention and thinking are being wasted on these matters, instead of on important matters which they can do something about

on the most important Very effectively determine / evaluate the importance of matters and associated tasks / activities and focused on the most important
PRACTICE 2 - PROACTOVE, with VISION and IMMEDIATE SHORT – TERM GOALS / TARGETS Proactive people begin all their activities with the end in mind. Proactivity, the opposite of reactivity, means having your vision for your profession and life, setting goals / targets and planning the tasks / activities to achieve the set goals / targets and ultimately your vision. The benefits of being proactive The benefits of being proactive: i)
You are driven by your visions and the goals / targets
ii) With your vision, will know whether the goals you are striving for, the decisions you make and the actions you take are in line with your vision. This way you will minimize wasting your time, efforts and resources on activities which are not contributing to your vision iii) Your brain will unconsciously find the opportunities, information and ideas that are important to achievement of your goals and ultimately your vision. Sub-Practice 2.1 - DON’T BE REACTIVE The opposite of being proactive is being reactive - reacting to events / situations that you encountered all the time. Those who are reactive wasted a lot of their efforts, resources and time, as the matters / situation they are reacting to: i)
Are mostly of low value, and
ii) are unplanned and not related to their visions and on-going goals, thus will not progressively move them towards any desired results / targets, Sub-Practice 2.2 – PLAN and REVIEW YOUR PATH OF SUCCESS Step 1 – DETERMINE YOUR VISION Your Vision is your desired future condition. It is best if the Vision is stated in one clear and short sentence. An example of a Vision of those involved in training / coaching: “TO CONTRIBUTE TO SELF-DEVELOPMENTS OF MANY PEOPLE” The importance of having your Vision:
APM - Rev 0: Nov 2011
-4-
Package : POWERED for SUCCESS 1 Module 1: System for SUCCESS 1 - Your Vision provides the main purpose to your profession & lives. It provides the direction of your professional and life journey. Those who are happy and satisfied are those who are clear of the main purpose to their profession and lives and they are progressing to fulfill their main purposes. 2 –The vision provide the guide / basis for deciding what are the most important achievable opportunities, critical problems, tasks & activities for you to focus on. This will minimize wasting your efforts, resources and time on the irrelevant and / or trivial matters. 3 - When you are inspired to achieve your Vision your thoughts and capabilities will go beyond their current limitations. Dormant abilities and talents will be activated. 4 - You will have more energy, resourcefulness and creativities to effectively, efficient & continuously progress to achieve your Vision. 5 - On days when you don’t feel like doing what that are important or when obstacles seemed bigger than your capabilities, your Vision will pull you on. State your Vision in one clear and short sentence Notes: 1 - When you determine your Vision, it is not necessary to know exactly how you are going to achieve the Vision. When you start to focus and strive towards your Vision, you will start to know the how. 2 –Initially you don’t need to have a well written Vision. You will be able revise and / or refine the Vision when you do the periodic reviews..
With good experience and improved capabilities, you will progressively have bigger Vision The main difference between the super achievers and all others is that the super achievers have big Visions. Super achievers see the world from different perspective where: -
amazing things can happen, billions of life can be improved new technologies can be developed to change the way we live the world’s resources can be leveraged for the greatest mutual gain to all
If we limit our Visions only to what that seemed possible, we limit ourselves from the possibilities of our greatest potentials.
Step 2 - SET IMMEDIATE SHORT -TERM GOALS / TARGETS Once you have determined your vision, you have to set the immediate short term goals / targets, which are the immediate milestones to progress towards your vision. For example a trainer with the vision of “TO CONTRIBUTE TO SELF-DEVELOPMENTS OF MANY PEOPLE” the immediate short term goal / target may be “To develop a training package in ….”
APM - Rev 0: Nov 2011
-5-
Package : POWERED for SUCCESS 1 Module 1: System for SUCCESS The immediate short-term goals / targets can be part of a long-term goals / targets. You may already be working on some of the goals / targets. By following this system, you will be more focused on your goals / targets, thus increasing the rate of your progress. Immediate short-term goals / targets of 3 to 6 months are recommended because: 1 – You are in better position to know whether the goal is achievable or not 2 – Achievement of the immediate short-term goals / targets will build your confidence and motivation The GOALS / TARGETS have to be SMART All your Goals / Targets have to be SMART: S = Specific, instead of being general, so that you are clear whether the Goals / Targets have been achieved or not M = Measurable A = Achievable R = Relevant to your vision / profession / life T = Time bound – have set completion period, not open ended
With good experience and improved capabilities, you will progressively set REALISTIC STRETCHED IMMEDIATE SHORT-TERM GOALS / TARGETS The most powerful goals / targets are stretched goals / targets, with outcomes that are beyond your current level of achievement. People who are very successful are those who set and strive for realistic stretched goals / targets. Stretch goals are powerful for two reasons: i)
Stretch goals / targets are more challenging than incremental goals.
ii) Stretch goals / targets force you to think “out of the box”, to develop breakthrough approaches / strategies, tasks and actions, and thus in the process of striving for the stretched goals you achieve significant improvements of your capabilities Step 2.1 – Set a STRATEGIC SHORT-TERM GOAL / TARGET Your STRATEGIC GOAL / TARGET is your MOST IMPORTANT GOAL / TARGET, achievement of which will result in the significant improvement in your profession or other aspects of your life. This is the goal / target which you focus on the most. State your immediate short – term STRATEGIC GOAL / TARGET in clear and short sentences. Example of STRATEGIC GOALS are “ Start a Business” or “develop the 1st training package”, in the field you are most familiar with.

Package : POWERED for SUCCESS 1 Module 1: System for SUCCESS Step 2.2 – Set OTHER SHORT-TERM GOALS / TARGETS Determine and state your immediate short – term goals / targets, for each of the Aspects of your life listed in the tabulation below: VISIONS & IMMEDIATE SHORT-TERM GOALS / TARGETS VISION: NO
ASPECTS
1
Spirituality

Note: At any time, depending on your situation, you ne not have immediate short – term goals / targets for any of aspect of your life and you may have more than one immediate short – term goals / targets for other aspects Sub-Practice 2.3 - MONTHLY GOALS PLANNING & REVIEWS The purpose of MONTHLY GOALS PLANNING & REVIEWS are to determine: - the best opportunities, strategy / approach, tasks, actions and required capabilities / resources for progressing and achieving the set goals / targets. -
Which of the tasks / activities that MUST (Priority A) and SHOULD (Priority B) be done during the month
Monthly Planning and Reviews to be done at the beginning of each month Step 1 – REVIEW & REVISE THE VISION & IMMEDIATE SHORT-TERM GOALS / TARGETS, where necessary Review the Vision and the Immediate Short – Term Goals / Targets. Where necessary, make revisions / refinements

Package : POWERED for SUCCESS 1 Module 1: System for SUCCESS Step 2 – Briefly VISUALIZE your VISION and WITH STRONG DESIRE to achieve Refer to the tabulation of your Vision and immediate short-term goals prepared under Sub-Practice 2.2 Form a clear mental picture of the Vision. The clearer your mental picture of your Vision and the stronger your desire to achieve it, the more likely will you be able to progress towards your vision. Although it takes a very short time, regular visualizations of your vision enabled the achievement of what you want in three ways: 1It activates the creativity of your subconscious mind to create ideas for progressing towardsyour vision. 2-
It motivates you to do your best and your most to progress towards your vision
3It program your brain to be more aware of the opportunities, information, ideas, etc that come your way for you to progress toward your Visions Step 3 – List all the known TASKS / TARGETS / ACTIVITIES for each of your immediate shortterm goals / targets. Step 3.1 – DETERMINE / REVIEW THE BEST STRATEGY / APPROACH to achieve your immediate short-term goals / targets Strategy / Approach is the main way to achieve each of your goal / target. With the strategy / approach chosen, you are then able to determine what need to be done and what capabilities and resources that you need (people, money, skill, etc) for achieving the goal / target. For example for the goal “Saving 5% of monthly incomes for Passive Income Investment”, the strategy / approach may be “Save the 5% of the income first, before spending” Use the tabulation below for your MONTHLY GOALS PLANNING & REVIEW MONTHLY GOALS PLANNING & REVIEWS (Month: …………) (References: Visions & Immediate short-term goals / targets, Schedule of Routine Tasks / Activities) Immediate short-term goals / targets. If the current strategy / approach did not work for any of your goal / target, you have to determine and adopt a more effective strategy / approach to achieve the goal / target. Step 3.2 – DETERMINE the TASKS and ACTIONS to achieve your immediate short-term goals / targets 1-Review last Monthly Plan and delete the completed Tasks / Activities 2 – Determine and list any other Tasks / Targets / Activities that you have to do to achieve respective goals / targets 3-Also to be included are Tasks / Activities of Annual / Quarterly / Monthly Routines (eg. Annual Report) and for Learning & Self-Development which you plan to do during the month. Initially you might not be sure of the important tasks and actions to progress towards your respective goals / targets. As you progress with each goals / targets, you will know and incorporate into your Monthly Plan more and more of the required important tasks and actions 4-Mark “A” in the “Pr A/B” column those Tasks / Actions which MUST be done during the month. 5- Mark “B” in the “Pr A/B” column those Tasks / Actions which SHOULD be done during the month. Remarks: 1 - When you do the next Monthly Goal Planning & Review and you find that you were not able to complete a few of the Pr A Actions of the previous month. Determine how you can improve your progress in coming month. If you feel that you cannot improve your progress, it is more realistic to reduce the Pr A Tasks / Actions planned for the coming month. 2 – Also if you are not able to make any progress with any of your immediate short-term goal / target, it is more realistic to drop it. Sub-Practice 2.4 – “TO DO & IDEAS NOTE BOOK” and “SCHEDULE OF ROUTINE TASK / ACTIVITIES” Besides the MONTHLY GOALS PLANNING and REVIEWS for Tasks & Actions for your immediate short-term goals / targets, you also need the following two systems, so that you can easily refer to all the task / actions that you have, to determine whether they are IMPORTANT or not. Those that are IMPORTANT and when required will be incorporate in your WEEKLY PLAN & DAILY PLAN: 1 - TO DO & IDEAS NOTE BOOK 2 – SCHEDULE OF ROUTINE TASKS / ACTIONS Sub-Sub-Practice 2.4.1 - TO DO & IDEAS NOTE BOOK

(Remark: A pocket size note book is very practical for this purpose, as it can always be carried with you) Also to be noted are any important ideas which come to your mind, being suggested by others or you come across it from your reading. Sub-Practice 2.4.2 - SCHEDULE OF ROUTINE TASK / ACTIVITIES If you are employed full time, most likely you have Annual / Quarterly Routine Tasks / Activities. List these Routine Tasks / Activities in the SCHEDULE OF ROUTINE TASK / ACTIVITIES, as tabulated below: SEHEDULE OF ROUTINE TASKS / ACTIVITIES

PRACTICE 3 – BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE your immediate short-term goals and ultimately your vision Your believe is your mindset / attitude. You can choose to believe that you can achieve your set goals / targets and ultimately your vision or you can choose not to believe. Believe is a powerful mental force To be successful in what you are striving for, you have to believe that you are most likely to be successful. The benefits of your belief: i)
Your brains will set and target for what you believe in achieving (like a guided missile, which have been set and launched to hit a target)
ii) It activates your mental capabilities. iii) It drives the decisions you make and the actions you take. iv) It affect your Bio Chemistry, energy levels, immune systems, functions of your organs and your general wellbeing, all of which are important for your success v) Your strong belief affect the belief of others who are involved with you, so they will provide their support to you Beliefs are self-fulfilling, thus you have to change all limiting beliefs to the possible. If you believe that it is possible, you will unconsciously do the things that are necessary to achieve the desired results. But if you believe that it is impossible, you will aslo unconsciously do things that prevent you from achieving the desired results. Either way, your beliefs are self-fulfilling = always correct
APM - Rev 0: Nov 2011
- 11 -
Package : POWERED for SUCCESS 1 Module 1: System for SUCCESS Thus to be successful, you have to let go forever the believe and self- talk that “I / we can’t” When you choose to believe that you are most likely to be successful in achieving your immediate shortterm goals / targets and eventually your vision, it is not necessary to know exactly how you are going to achievethem. With your believe and efforts to progress, you will start to hnow the how. Sub-Practice 3.1 – IGNORE CONSIDERATIONS AND FEARS which prevent achievement of your goals As soon as you set your goals / targets, considerations and fears will come to your mind, stopping most people from taking actions to progress towards their goals / targets. Considerations are all your reasons why you should not strive for the goals and why it is not possible to achieve Fears are beliefs of difficulties / failures Most people let considerations / fears stop them from taking actions. Successful people feel the fears, but at the same time take all the required actions. In the process they will start to learn more and more, progressively increasing their abilities and confidence, the fears of difficulties / failure will disappear or greatly reduce Sub-Practice 3.2 – NEVER THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU DON’T WANT Your brain sends out messages to the universe and to your subconscious mind what you are thinking about. You will then attract into your lives whatever you give our attention to. Thus you have to always be conscious of what you are thinking about, and ensure that it is always for the better and never on what you don’t want. You must quickly take corrective and preventive actions. If ignored / denied the potential problems will grows and usually lead to more serious problem and other related problems. iv – NOT FULFILLING YOUR AGREEMENTS / PROMISES When you don’t fulfill your agreements / promises, you: -
create problems for yourselves and for those depending on your agreements / promises
-
Will lose the trust & respect of others who are involved with you
-
Will lose our self-respect and self-confidence
Don’t easily make agreements / promises which you cannot fulfill / perform. Learn to say NO Sub-Practice 4.2 – RESPOND THE BEST WAYS TO IMPORTANT EVENTS / SITUATION EVENT / SITUATION + REACTION / RESPONSE > OUTCOME Every situation / outcome you are experiencing in your jobs or lives, are to a great extent the result of how you have reacted / responded to earlier related events / situations. If you don’t like the outcomes you are getting or the situations we are in, you have only one choice:

PRACTICE 5 – WEEKLY and DAILY PLANNING / REVIEWS and EXECUTIONS Importance of periodic planning and review of your goals / targets / tasks / activities Most people can easily determine, evaluate and choose to strive for their goals. The mistake they made is in believing that because they have chosen the goals, they will do what that are necessary until they are successful. However, without periodic planning & reviews, the most likely outcome is that they won’t be progressing towards their goals. Regular planning & review of your goal and the involved tasks / activities have the following benefits: i)
Good plans are firm enough for immediate actions and have to be to reviewed and revised to adjust to changing conditions and opportunities.
ii) Your dormant mental capabilities will be awaken to what you are planning / reviewing. You will begin to utilize the massive capabilities of your sub-conscious brain to enable you to progress and achieve what you have planned and reviewed. iii) When you periodically plan and review the planned tasks / activities, your brain will do its function to shift through the massive information that your sub-conscious brain receives, to find the information and ideas that are relevant to what you are doing to progress towards

Remarks: The month is too long and the day is too short for determining what that are most important for you to focus on. With these most important activities chosen for the week, you have very good basis to decide on what to do day-by-day during the week

Determine how you can improve your progress in coming week.
-
If you feel that you cannot improve your progress, then you are to reduce the Pr A Tasks / Actions planned for the coming week.
Sub-Practice 5.2- DAILY PLANNING and DOING YOUR BEST (This is the most important PRACTICE) What that separate winners from losers is that winners take important actions till completion / achievement of desired results. What we think, decide, know, believe, etc. are of no benefit until we Take Actions. When you take actions, you start the following process which enable you to progress to achieve your goals or desired results: i)
You begin to learn valuable knowledge and gain valuable experience from your actions. (Note: Some knowledge can be learned / appreciated only by doing)
ii) You get feedbacks from others on what went well (to berepeated), what need to be reduced and what need to be improved. iii) You start to get clearer and clearer on what what need to be done and how. iv) You build momentum, the force which maintains your progress towards your goals. Yesterday is past, tomorrow is yet to come, the time that you have is now. The time that you have now can easily be wasted, but not like other resources, it cannot be saved for future use. Thus the time that you have now is your most valuable opportunity. In order to be very successful you have to make the most of it. A very successful profession and life is built up of days when you do your BEST and MOST. Very successful people at virtually anything have daily routine of: 1 – Doing their planned activities very well (or if not able to do very well, they do their best), and 2 – Do all what they can do that day This Daily Routine is very important because it: i)
puts you in the habit of makeing maximum progress daily , and

When you are doing your best daily, after some times your best becomes easy, you can then do at the next higher level. The DAILY PLANNING & REVIEW to be done at the end or beginning of each day. You may use a Day Diary or note book fo your DAILY PLAN. (Note: For those who move a lot during the day, such as those who do field work at construction sites, it is most practical to use a pocket size note book for their DAILY PLAN) Step 1 – Set the TASKS / ACTIVITIES to be done during the day List the important activities in your DAILY PLAN be done during the day, making reference to uncompleted activities of yesterday’s Daily Plan, Weekly Plan, and any urgent and important new items in the “To-Do & Ideas Notes” Mark “A” to a few (1 to 3) of the Tasks / Activities which MUST be done during the day. These include those that are urgent and / or others which are of high priority be completed during the day. Sub-Sub-Practice 5.2.1 – COMMIT and DO YOUR BEST and the MOST during the day COMMIT to do the Pr A Tasks / Activities very well (or if not able to do very well, do your best), till completion. When you work at your best, you will: 1 - Be resourceful, creative and do whatever that are required, to effectively and efficiently complete the Pr A Tasks / Activities. You starts to utilize your abilities and potentials that you never know you have. 2 - After some time your best become easy. You will then be able to work at the next higher level. 3 - Over time progressing / completing your daily priority A tasks / actions becomes your habits. Once this habit is established, working and progressing with your day-to-day priority A tasks / activities will become easy. When you start working at your next higher level, you will know your weakness and will face new challenges. You can then take actions to rectify the weakness and overcome the challenges. In the process, you grow your capabilities. People and organizations that continuously push their limits will have greater capabilities, with which they will then have less competitions and thus have more opportunities. Start the day with the 1st A Task / Activity, do it very well (or if not able to do very well, do your best) till completion. Then do the next and the next of the planned tasks / activities....doing all that you can do during the day Remark: You have the capability to do YOUR BEST and the MOST every day – that is your capability, which you have to utilize to the most benefit every day.
