Teardrops on the Dance Floor is an ode to dance music and its many subgenres, a deep dive into the work of some of today’s most successful DJs, and an exploration of their influences over fifty years of music, dancing, and raving. Each episode will blend past and present, verité and archival, into a dynamic, seamless storytelling that will entertain audiences with the hits they love, the club scene they crave, and the genre that defines their lives. Whether you’ve attended an EDM festival, a rave, or just listened to any of today’s pop on your AirPods, you will recognize the feeling of each decade – and be shocked at how much these disparate modes of music have in common. Teardrops on the Dance Floor, inspired by club culture stories curated by legendary remix and dance music marketing executive Brad Mason LeBeau, will take a look at the cultural and historical context in which dance music was born and then grew.

“Scout Productions has a strong track record of producing quality documentary series,” said Ian Bonhôte. “By marrying our creative styles to bring this history to life, I am confident that together we will bring forth a docuseries that not only highlights the importance of this story but also showcases the profound influence of dance culture on our collective consciousness.”

Rob Eric, Joel Chiodi, David Collins, and Michael Williams serve as executive producers for Scout Productions. Bonhôte and Lizzie Gillett (The Territory, Lady Boss) will produce for Misfits Entertainment along with independent producer Brad Mason LeBeau. Scout Productions has quickly become a trailblazer in documentary filmmaking with their groundbreaking series and acclaimed documentaries across major platforms, including The Secrets of Hillsong on FX, MerPeople on Netflix, Equal on Max, and I Love You, You Hate Me on Peacock. Additionally, the company has attracted notable talent, including Amy Poehler, Kristen Stewart, and Charlie Puth.
