HOSPITALITY THE OAK CONCEPT: The prevalence of the oaks in White Point Garden is represented in The Oak Bar and Lounge, which provides a place for relaxation and socialization. Deep, rich wood tones provide hotel guests and visitors an ambiance that represents an oak tree. The ceiling detail over the bar and the pendant lights represents a southern live oak with hanging Spanish moss.

EMILY ROBINSON FALL 2014 BEAUSOLEIL CONCEPT: Beausoleil, the hotel restaurant, draws inspiration from the Charleston coast, specifically a type of oyster that is native to the area, the beausoleil oyster. Providing diners with fresh seafood and southern cuisine, Beausoleil is an ideal spot for diners and parties of any size. As a key design element, a fresh oyster bar showcases local oysters. Tones of blues and rich woods provide the area with an atmosphere that reflects the city of Charleston.

HOSPITALITY PALMETTO CONCEPT: The palmetto, which is not only prominent in White Point Garden, but is also an iconic symbol of South Carolina, is represented in Palmetto Day Spa. Serene colors allow guests to find an inner peace and relaxation in areas such as the relaxation room, the private treatment rooms, or with their partner in the couples’ treatment room. Moss from the oak tree inspires the draping separations within the space. Serene, neutral colors engulf the space allowing all who enter a sense of peace and tranquility.

EMILY ROBINSON FALL 2014 GUEST ROOM CONCEPT: The guest rooms of White Point welcome guests with rich tones of gold, navy, and deep browns. Rooms are varied to fit the needs of all visitors. These include single queen, single king, double-double, and suites. A custom made wall covering, designed to mimic the bark of the southern live oak, is the focal wall in all rooms. Details inspired by the architecture of Charleston are present in the crown molding and wall panels.

HOSPITALITY CONCEPT:

Incantato (Enchanted) is a contemporary interpretation of the elaborate masks worn during the Venetian Carnival and the Italian Renaissance. Almost every mask has a scroll motif that is shown on the floor pattern in the restaurant. Large columns that flow into the ceiling are inspired from the columns and arches found in Italian Renaissance architecture. Through the mixture of the Italian Renaissance and contemporary design, the guests are left with a unique, high-end dining experience.

EMILY ROBINSON FALL 2014 CONCEPT: Located in Norfolk, VA, NEXT University is designed to reflect the diversity of New York City. In many ways, the diversity of universities is similar to the diversity of New York. There are different colleges, majors, and types of students at each university. Each student has a difference learning style and requires a different environment to be productive. At NEXT, there are learning spaces, individual spaces, relaxation spaces, and collaboration spaces. All of these diverse spaces help students learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

EMILY ROBINSON SPRING 2014 CONCEPT: The purpose of Howell Hall is to move the Interior Design department closer to art, architecture, and BCS. Therefore, Howell Hall is designed to promote collaboration among the departments and allow for flexibility of the spaces. Groups or individuals can gather in several different types of spaces to brainstorm, communicate, or focus with mobile furniture such as storage ottomans and pin-up boards as well as an enclosed collaboration zone.

EMILY ROBINSON SPRING 2014 ART CONCEPT: Flexible furniture in the conference room and studios allow for quick reconfigurations and collaboration. The design and drawing studios have spaces for classwork, storage, and a critique wall. Still life, easels, lamps and drawing horses can be stored within the studio. There are also storage closets along the corridor. Flexible track lighting highlights the exposed ceilings and critique walls and serves as a second layer of light. Each space within the art department uses industrial finishes that are easily cleaned.

EMILY ROBINSON SPRING 2014 CONCEPT:

Vi possesses a very specific objective in giving environmental value and organic material a high-class connotation for the retail market. The store concept combines the essence of the origin of make-up with sophisticated elegance and technology. Playing off natural elements of a vineyard and the idea of quality and taste, this unique brand gives "mature" a fresh, new meaning. The vineyard symbolizes the natural and pure source of retrieving the original, raw ingredients (e.g. flowers, fruits, soot, and seeds) from products in order to enhance the environmental and wellness factors for the target audience.

EMILY ROBINSON FALL 2013 CONCEPT: The design inspiration for NEXT is a river and the way it travels. A river starts from a source and grows until it reaches the ocean. This process is similar to the process that happens at NEXT. Just like the entrepreneurs, they have ideas that, with the help of the company, grow until they reach the market. The design of the space promotes movement and collaboration through curves and multiple places for entrepreneurs to work.

EMILY ROBINSON FALL 2013 CONCEPT: Bloom Women's Medical Center is designed to reflect the beauty of a flower in bloom. When a flower blooms, it is in its most fresh and beautiful state. Blooming means that the plant is healthy and at its highest potential, and bloom also means to become radiant and glowing. All of these things are the way a woman wants to feel. Bloom encourages a woman to be her healthiest, most beautiful self. Because of this, purples, blues, and greens are used throughout the space to calm the patients and to represent the beauty of flowers.
