Chapter 01

Urban and Landscape Projects

PROJECT :

The project is about re-thinking the site of a decommissioned nuclear power plant in the PO river basin, between Piacenza province and Cremona province. The power plant is dismantled in steps, reusing the buildings without demolitions. Innovations including Increasing ecological functionality by rehabilitating wetlands, expanding forest areas and combating the spread of allochthonous vegetation species.

Inaugurating our strategy for the Caorso area along the Po River, we harness the potential of nature-based solutions for seamless ecological integration and connectivity while fostering biodiversity. In response to the region’s recurrent flooding challenges, our strategy aims to operate effectively in both dry and wet conditions. We’re committed to allowing water entry in a resilient manner, enhancing the area’s flood resilience. We will engage in power plant functional regeneration and ecological renaturalization actions. Furthermore, we employ the natural filtration capabilities of plants and trees to purify the incoming water, simultaneously enriching both water quality and soil health. This transformative approach signifies our dedication to a sustainable and harmonious future for the Caorso region. .

Wet and Dry Scenario

In the first scenario, this concept will be put into action after allowing the water to flow in. As a result, wetlands will form during certain seasons, providing passageways and ramps for people to navigate. In the second scenario, this area will transform into a lush green space during dry seasons, offering people the opportunity to engage in a variety of recreational activities. During periods of lower river levels, this space will serve as a versatile, multipurpose platform, offering a scenic viewpoint for people to sit and enjoy the river.

Stop 03 was in diffrent level from the main roads, the challenge was to give accessibility to the bus stop and regenerate the area using green solutions.

ReFarm also focuses on transforming historic Cascina Nosedo into a hub for adaptive agriculture, where farmers can harness the power of innovation, technology, and environmental stewardship to maximize productivity and minimize ecological impact.

The renovation project will focus on upgrading the Cascina’s infrastructure to support adaptive agricultural practices. Upgraded infrastructure will enable farmers to adapt to changing needs and efficiently utilize resources, reducing waste and increasing overall productivity.

To foster growth and knowledge sharing, the Cascina Nosedo will serve as a platform for collaboration among farmers, researchers, and local communities. By facilitating partnerships and networks, the project aims to create a supportive environment for farmers to exchange ideas, share best practices, and collectively address challenges. Additionally, the Cascina can offer educational programs, training sessions, and workshops to empower farmers with the skills needed for adaptive agriculture. The New design will be accommodating educational spaces in the existing off campus block and the building next to it, while the residential building will be retained as backpackers hostel and guest houses. The other abandoned residential building will be renovated to host workshops and trainings.

The stable building will be converted in to a low carbon eating cafe and co-working spaces, Inviting the young urban population to the Cascina. By proposing a community garden and providing a multi purpose central courtyard to host community functios will make the Cascina an anchor point for the neighborhood.

Building Configuration

The first floor of the building has been thoughtfully redesigned to create a dedicated space for agricultural education. It now includes advanced research facilities, a modern lecture hall, and captivating greenhouses for experimental plant growth. The design emphasizes functionality, incorporating ample natural light and state-of-the-art equipment. The inviting atmosphere inspires curiosity and collaboration, offering visitors an immersive experience to learn and explore the world of agriculture.

The Meandering Loops

The running and bike track surrounding Porto di Mare Park consists of two main loops, each offering distinct experiences. The longer loop encompasses the entire park, allowing enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the picturesque surroundings. Meanwhile, the shorter loop offers a more condensed route for those seeking a quicker workout or a leisurely stroll. Moreover, the track incorporates minor pathways resembling veinlets, which intricately weave through the enchanting wildflower meadows around. This design not only adds aesthetic appeal but also provides a refreshing atmosphere for individuals to enjoy their exercise routines while connecting with nature.

Science and Technology Museum

ABSTRACT :

A science and technology museum is to inspire and educate the public, explain complicated inventions, survey the evidence of science, display the intense industry productions.

The exhibition galleries are never static for long, as they have to reflect and comment on the increasing pace of change in science, technology and industry.

Project concept:

The main concept is to join the different functions, and create a central public place with mixused functions, while keeping the historical image of the site. Inviting diffrent types of users by introducing diffrent fuctions.

The planterium dome is exposed to the outside to give the iconic character of the museum, but closed from the inside to display the shows on it.

The planterium dome structure is steel space frame dome, and raised floors to help facilitate the halls with the electrical services and cooling systems. The circulation is main factor in museums, thats why the halls designed to be self-guiding the visitors in a loop to the end hall which kead to the planterium.

Yousif Altinay Private Villa

ABSTRACT :

The project is a private villa , the scope is architectural and interior design for ground, first and second floor, with modern style and aches in the exterior are the main feature in the design.

Atbara Apartment Building

ABSTRACT :

The project challenge was to design an apartment for rent above existing commercial shops in Atbara – Sudan.

A studio and two bedrooms apartment are optimized in 150m2 area, toilets and the kitchen are accompanied in one place to be drained easily and concealed with vertical metal grid.

Abo-saed Housing Project

ABSTRACT :

After a study to the Sudanese cultures, we conclude the main consideration in the housing projects in Sudan, which are : privacy , gender separation, free of traffic space for kids to play and visible from the parents, parking which could be shared, and common space for elders.

The bridge in the first floor connecting the two unit’s stairs, with space to socializing and connecting the residents with each other. In the second floor a giant landing is act as a connecting space.

ABSTRACT :

The project is dates processing factory, with area 5000m2, ground floor and first floor. The challenge was to adapt the architectural design with the mechanical circulation of the machines and production line. In collaboration with other disciplines like fire fighting=ng engineers and mechanical and electrical engineers.

The structure design was from a steel factory pre-fabricated pieces.

ABSTRACT :

The project is resedintial complex with diffrent typology of apartments. my role in the project was to design and visualize the interior of masterbedrooms. Moodboards were discussed in internal meetings then get approved from the client, draft renders and then final renders were presented.
