Health Fair Returns to Annual Meeting After COVID-19 Absence
Co-op Members to Vote on Bylaw Amendment and Trustee Elections
Continental Divide's annual meeting of its membership is April 29, at Grants High School. The meeting will be called to order at 8 a.m. by Board President Keith Gottlieb.
Registration of the members will begin immediately, as will Cibola General Hospital's health fair.
Registration and the pre-meeting festivities will take place in the GHS new gymnasium and conclude at 11 a.m.
At promptly 11:15 a.m., the co-op’s business meeting will convene inside the GHS auditorium.
“We encourage members from across our service territory—Cibola, McKinley, Valencia, Sandoval and Bernalillo counties—to register and stay for the business meeting to hear about the co-op’s business affairs,” said Mac Juarez, Continental Divide's member services manager.
In addition to the business meeting and health fair, the Grants Recreation Department’s monthly “fun run” will kick off the day near the school's football field off Roosevelt Avenue. The 5K walk starts at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5K run at 7:45 a.m. and the 10K bicycle race at 7:50 a.m.
Other events and additional health fair details are still in the planning. Continental Divide co-op members should look for updated information in their April billing statement.
Three Continental Divide trustee seats are up for election—District 2, District 7 and At-Large. The window to petition to be a candidate had not yet closed as of the publication print date. Co-op members will also be asked to vote on a proposed bylaw amendment to redistrict the service area to better distribute our membership.
The number of co-op members needed for individual district quorums, as well as a business meeting quorum, were not available until the end of March, after we audited our active accounts in each district to ensure members fall within proper boundaries for registration and voting purposes.
When the number of members needed for a general quorum falls short, board of trustee elections can still proceed if a quorum of 3% of members from that district is registered at the annual meeting.
Our audit also ensures that members with multiple accounts receive only one registration certificate. Per Continental Divide bylaws, members are allowed only one vote, regardless of their multiple services.
Continental Divide will conduct prize drawings throughout the business meeting with this year’s grand prize of $1,500. Co-op members must be present to win a prize.
