Programs are offered for those 50 years of age and up, unless otherwise noted. Classes are subject to change and may be canceled if minimum participation is not met.

Fee-based classes for the session require payment in full at the time of enrollment. You may register online, by mail, or in person.

ARTS AND CRAFTS DANCE AND MOVEMENT

Watercolor & More

Learn the fundamentals of watercolor as you explore and experiment with techniques that are fun and easy to do. No previous experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome.

Monthly Social Dances

It is time to strike up the band and dance to the classic melodies of yesteryear! Couples and singles are welcome. Light refreshments are provided during intermission. There is an opportunity drawing at every dance. Admission is $5, payable at the door.

New Year’s Eve Dance

Enjoy live music with delicious refreshments, surprise give-a-ways, and of course a toast to 2022! Tickets go on sale October 15th at the Encinitas Community Senior Center while supplies last. (Max. of 8 tickets per person). Tickets are $10 per a ticket.

FITNESS

Golden and Toned

Golden and toned is tailored for active older adults, who want to focus on muscle conditioning with light weight activity and some dancing. This class blends the sounds of a Latin music party while doing a total body workout. Low to moderate intensity strength training with 1-pound weights or no weights at all, blended with Latin dance. On occasion resistance bands may be used but not necessary. Be ready to have fun and tone up in this 35-minute class.

Health Barre

This total-body conditioning program is designed to improve your posture, muscle-tone and strength with basic pilates and ballet movements. Work your entire body using light weights, bands, ballet barre and your own body weight as well as other methods of resistance to promote lean muscle. Qi Gong

Qi Gong is an ancient system developed in Asia for overall fi tness and health. Participants will engage in simple, fl uid motions as well as standing and sitting.

T'ai Chi Chih – Intermediate

T'ai Chi Chih is a moving mindfullness meditation that consists of 20 easy, enjoyable movements that cultivate health, serenity, and longevity. It reduces stiff ness, improves balance, regulates blood pressure, increases energy, promotes restful sleep, and relieves stress.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga teaches proper yoga poses and how to adapt and customize them for your body. Learn to fi nd a way to develop a yoga practice that works for you. Advanced Yoga

Develop poses (asanas) to be most benefi cial. Getting into holding and coming out properly will be the hallmark, with extra time in savasana. Exploration of gentle fl ow will be a part. Bring a yoga mat, blocks, strap, and cushion. If you don't have, talk with the instructor. Pre-requisite: Two concurrent years of yoga classes. Restore and Explore Yoga

This gentle practice gives each individual a time to relax and recharge, while exploring various poses. Practice includes therapeutic breathing exercises and slow movement. Class is appropriate for most levels and ability. Please bring a yoga mat and a small blanket or towel.

Duplicate Bridge Play

Improve your skill level, concentration and memory by playing the challenging and competitive game of ACBL sanctioned Duplicate Bridge. This is a weekly ongoing program, so you may join at any time throughout the year. Cost includes a book of 8 play coupons/play sessions. No expiration date for coupon books. No refunds or exchanges.

NUTRITION

Encinitas Parks and Recreation Cafe (Lunch Program)

The Encinitas Senior Center off ers seniors over the age of 60 daily nutritious lunches in a welcoming environment. Reservations and cancellations are required by 9:00am the business day before you would like a meal by calling 760-943-2258. The suggested meal donation is $4 per meal for Seniors 60+, with a $6.50 fee per meal for ages under 60 and guests. *Please note, a client in-take form is required for new participants age 60+ and must be updated annually.

Please check-in for lunch between 10:30-11:30am. Lunch is served at 11:40am. Join us for special events such as bingo, and monthly themed parties, as scheduled on the menu. This program is supported by the Older Americans Grant funds awarded through the County of San Diego Aging and Independence Services, the City of Encinitas, and meal donations. No eligible person shall be denied a meal because of failure or inability to contribute.

Community Resource Center

The City of Encinitas Senior Center has partnered with the Community Resource Center (CRC) to assist citizens aged 50+ with the following free services:

1. Case Management Consultations and

Assessments 2. Provisions of Emergency Assistance 3. Benefi t Eligibility 4. Referrals for Mental Health, Crisis and

Substance Abuse Counseling 5. Job or Volunteer Placement Referrals 6. Transportation Assistance 7. Food at CRC’s Food & Nutrition Center and vouchers for clothing and home goods at

CRC Resale Stores (while supplies last/ budget permitting.

CRC can provide support with assistance and resources for Healthy Food, Stable Homes, and Safe Relationships.

Project C.A.R.E.

Project C.A.R.E. is a FREE "Safety Net" program of services for Encinitas seniors. If you live alone, this is a great resource. Services include: Vial of Life, Home Safety Check and information and referrals. Call (760) 943-2250 for more information.

TRANSPORTATION

Encinitas Senior Center Lunch Transportation

Transportation is available for eligible senior citizens (60+) to and from the Senior Center for lunches Monday through Friday. If you or someone you know is interested in rides to the lunches, call (760) 943-2258 to request an application. Suggested $2 donation per round-trip van ride.

Out and About Encinitas- Get on Board!

Encinitas senior citizen residents are in need of transportation. Volunteer drivers are needed to take seniors to the grocery store, doctor appointments, pharmacy, Senior Center and many other locations in Encinitas. To apply to be a driver, please call (760) 943-2256. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage.

LIFT

Lift offers curb-to-curb transportation for ADA certifi ed passengers. For an application call (877) 232-7433. To schedule a ride call (760) 726-1111.
