A
my Ray and Emily Saliers are the Indigo Girls. Rolling Stone magazine describes them as the “ideal duet partners. Their voices soar and swoop as one, alternately raucous and soothing. When they sing together, they radiate a sense of shared purpose that adds muscle to their lanky, deeply felt folk-tinged pop songs.” Together they write, arrange, record and perform music, which over the course of 25 years, has become a vital part of the lives of their devoted fans worldwide, informing and rewarding them day to day. With 12 original studio albums, three live records, various greatest hits compilations, a rarities and a Christmas record to their credit, the iconic duo continues to challenge itself creatively, over and over again, adding to a body of work that contains such contemporary classic songs as “Galileo,”
“Shame on You,” “Closer to Fine,” “Kid Fears,” “Love of Our Lives,” “Making Promises,” “Get out the Map,” “Moment of Forgiveness,” “Least Complicated” and “Go.” After numerous Grammy nominations/awards, gold and platinum certifications and decades of touring in clubs, arenas and everything in between, the Indigo Girls remain active and relevant, always viewing their music as a fresh opportunity for exploration and discovery. “We really work hard to not lean on any triedand-true path in making our albums,” says Ray. “So when it comes to writing new songs and working and performing with different musicians, every record and every tour feels like a completely different adventure for us.” Having established an intensely dedicated fan base, the duo continues to remain relevant and attract new fans. With their latest release, One Lost Day, released on Vanguard Recordings, Saliers and Ray have secured their spot as one of the most legendary musical acts of their generation.

l Volo, the critically acclaimed pop opera trio, is headed back on the road in support of its fifth studio album, Grande Amore. They are proving that power ballads, accompanied by immense vocals, can make every generation fall in love with them. Il Volo comprises members Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble and has released four albums, starting in 2011: two studio albums, a live album and a Christmas album. Recently, Il Volo won the “Big Artist” award at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, which led the group to go 3x-Platinum in Italy with its latest EP and contributed to a sold-out summer tour.
The three have been guests on such TV shows as “The Tonight Show,” “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America,” “The Talk,” “American Idol,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Rachael Ray Show.” They also appeared on the final episode of the HBO series “Entourage.” Il Volo sang with Barbra Streisand in 2012, performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City as special guests of Laura Pausini, won a Billboard Latin Music Award, and toured the United States and Latin America with great success. Join us for an evening of crisp, pure and inspirational vocals. It’s a night not to be missed.

inger songwriter Gordon Lightfoot has left his mark on the music scene and influenced generations. After 50 years of hit song-making and international album sales in the multimillions, it’s safe to say that the esteemed singer-songwriter and musician resides alongside some very exclusive company atop the list of all-time greats. This year is special for Lightfoot, who has announced plans for a cross-country U.S. tour titled “Gordon Lightfoot — 50 Years on the Carefree Highway.” The tour will feature his well-known hits as well as some deep album cuts for die-hard fans. All are woven
together with some of Lightfoot’s behind-thescenes stories and personal anecdotes about his five decades in music. The concert is sure to be a thrill for live audiences, anyone who enjoys hearing great music and seeing a living legend in person. Lightfoot has recorded 20 albums and has five Grammy nominations. His songs have been aired regularly for 50 years, earning him radio singles chart positions in North America that have been achieved by few others. His radio hits in the United States have earned five No. 1, five Top 10 and 13 Top 40 hits. In June 2012, Lightfoot’s legacy was further cemented when he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was honored for helping define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and ’70s. Fewer than 400 inductees make up the impressive roster of artists enshrined in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

JOAN BAEZ
J
oan Baez has been as busy as ever in the years since she celebrated the landmark years 2008-09, the 50th anniversary of her legendary 1958 residency at the famed Club 47 in Cambridge, Mass., and her subsequent debut at the 1959 Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island. In addition to multiple tours in the United States and abroad, recent events have included the induction of Baez’s 1960 debut Vanguard LP by the National Recording Academy into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2015, she received Amnesty International’s highest honor, its Ambassador of Conscience Award, in recognition of her leadership in the fight for human rights. Baez remains a musical force of nature whose influence is incalculable — marching on the front line of the civil rights movement with

the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., inspiring Vaclav Havel in his fight for a Czech Republic, singing on the first Amnesty International tour and more recently, standing alongside Nelson Mandela when the world celebrated his 90th birthday in London’s Hyde Park. She shined a spotlight on the free speech movement, took to the fields with Cesar Chavez, organized resistance to the Vietnam War, then 40 years later saluted the Dixie Chicks for their courage to protest the Iraq War. Her earliest recordings fed a host of traditional ballads into the rock vernacular, before she unself-consciously introduced Bob Dylan to the world in 1963, beginning a tradition of mutual mentoring that continues to this day. Critics praised her Grammynominated 2008 album, Day After Tomorrow, which was followed by the PBS “American Masters” premiere of her life story, “Joan Baez: How Sweet the Sound.” Baez’s instrument is her voice. On March 17, sit back and enjoy the sounds of a generation.

ollowing his successful European tour, Joe Satriani is looking ahead to the North American “Surfing to Shockwave” 2016 tour. The much-anticipated 45-date tour will celebrate Satriani’s 30year career and include music from his first solo album, Not of this Earth, through his latest release, his 15th solo album, Shockwave Supernova. The tour promises to be a highlight for any longtime Satriani fan. Of course, the set list will contain fan favorites, but the legendary guitarist promises to include some gems, pulled from the “Satriani Songbook,” which
may not ever have been performed live, or in some cases, not for a very long time. Songs such as “Big Bad Moon,” “Friends,” “Crystal Planet,” “Not of This Earth,” “Luminous Flesh Giants” and “If I Could Fly” have been confirmed as part of the set list.

ast year marked the 45th anniversary of perennial classic-rock favorite America. Founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell (along with former bandmate Dan Peek) met in high school in London in the late 1960s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts. The band and its signature song, “A Horse With No Name,” became global household names and paved the way for an impressive string of hits following the success of its first No. 1 single. More than 40 years later, these friends are still making music together, touring the world and thrilling audiences.

KATHY GRIFFIN
T
wo-time Emmy and Grammy awardwinning comedian Kathy Griffin is a towering figure on television, on tour and in publishing. She breaks through the entertainment clutter with her universally recognized brand of pull-no-punches comedy. This year, Griffin announced her 80-city “Like a Boss” tour, with stops from coast to coast, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2014, she made history with her sixth consecutive Grammy nomination and first win for best comedy album (Kathy Griffin: Calm Down Gurrl), joining Whoopi Goldberg and Lily Tomlin as the only other female comedians to ever win that particular Grammy honor.
In 2013, Griffin was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for writing and starring in an unprecedented 20 televised stand-up specials — more than any comedian in history. Buoyed by her dedicated and engaged fans, Griffin’s live stand-up performances are legendary and in a class of their own. Hundreds of thousands of people pay to see her perform sold-out shows everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Griffin’s other awards and honors include the Human Rights Campaign’s Ally for Equality, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America’s Leadership in Entertainment honor, GLAAD’s Vanguard award, the Trevor Life Award from the Trevor Project and a Gracie Award for outstanding female lead.

CHRIS BOTTI JOSHUA BELL
WITH THE ATLANTA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
I
t’s a double bill of out-of-this stratosphere musicianship as two renowned Grammy winners — jazz trumpeter Chris Botti and violinist Joshua Bell — join forces to tour seven U.S. cities together this summer. Both artists attended Indiana University and have recorded together, but this will mark their first official tour, starting June 10 in Atlanta, and concluding Aug, 21 in Holmdel, N.J. Bell and Botti, both leaders in their respective fields of classical and pop, share much in common. Each artist has sold countless records, performed at the White House and on Grammy awards telecasts, and enjoyed having their CDs debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Both sre firmly rooted in their respective genres but have frequently blurred the lines to enjoy collaborations with other artists. Botti has repeatedly proven that he is an exceptional balladeer, whether performing the “Star-Spangled Banner” at the New York Giants’ stadium or captivating audiences at the Blue Note in New York. He’s sold
more than 4 million albums, won Grammy awards, and played with the world’s finest symphonies. He has delivered four No. 1 albums on Billboard’s jazz charts and still manages to keep up a rigorous, global touring schedule. Bell, often referred to as “the poet of the violin,” is widely considered “the greatest American violinist active today” (The Boston Herald). He has recorded more than 40 CDs, including the soundtrack for the Oscarwinning film The Red Violin. He commands the stage as a soloist, having performed on every continent except Antarctica. Get your favorite Chastain recipes out, grab your picnic baskets and flowers and get ready to kick off the 2016 Delta Classic Chastain concert series June 10 with this incredible concert under the stars!
