DEAR HIV, WE DIDN’T GIVE UP. XOXO, SCIENCE There is no cure, but science is still in the battle against HIV. Today’s HIV treatments taken every day as prescribed can help you get to and stay undetectable. That means the amount of virus is so low it can’t be measured by lab tests. Research shows that staying undetectable means there’s effectively no risk of transmitting HIV through sex. Ask your healthcare provider about HIV and treatment options.

RED BARAAT Bollywood Funk Party Band
Saturday, Oct. 12 8 p.m.
The band lineup: Sunny Jain dhol / vocals Chris Eddleton drumset Sonny Singh trumpet / vocals Ray Mason trombone John Altieri sousaphone Jonathan Goldberger guitar
Red Baraat is a pioneering band from Brooklyn, New York, conceived by dhol player Sunny Jain. The group has drawn world-wide praise for its singular sound: a merging of harddriving North Indian bhangra with elements of hip-hop, jazz, and raw punk energy. Red Baraat’s June 2018 album release, Sound The People, hit the top 10 on the World Music Charts Europe and was heralded in the United States as the anthem soundtrack for the South Asian diaspora by indie-rock magazine, Stereogum. The band’s recent performances include headlining Peter Gabriel’s renowned WOMAD Festival in Caceres, Spain, performing at the Vienna Konzerthaus (Philharmonie) in Austria and the Sines Festival in Portugal. The universality of what Red Baraat does is undeniable and purposeful. “If we can unite people of all backgrounds and ethnicities to partake in the exuberance of life through the universal language of music,” says Jain, “then life is that much sweeter.”

Hammonds House Museum extends Lit Without Sherman: A Love Letter to the West End
Lit Without Sherman: A Love Letter to the West End by artist Shanequa Gay has allowed us to celebrate the West End, capture great West End stories from residents and delve into the effects of gentrification on a community. We believe there are more stories to gather, more conversations to be had and more opportunities to teach the importance of a community's history to young people. So we are extending Lit Without Sherman: A Love Letter to the West End through December 22. Visit hammondshouse.org for information about visiting, group tours, education and public programs. We'll see you at the museum! Lit Without Sherman: A Love Letter to the West End is supported in part by generous funding from the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, Fulton County Department of Arts and Culture, City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and Hammonds House Museum Members and Donors. Hammonds House Museum is a Partner of the National Performance Network (NPN). This project is made possible in part by support from the NPN Artist Engagement Fund. Major contributors include the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts (a federal agency).
