Welcome to the Staunton Harold Triathlon, thank you for joining us. After the success of last 2 year’s event and through the challenges of organising the event through a Pandemic, we are privileged to be invited back to this unique, picturesque estate.

Please respect the estate, residents , private areas and enjoy this glorious setting. Thank you to the owners and all staff at the estate for allowing us to use their stunning home.

- Staunton Harold Estate is situated a few miles from junction 13 of the M42 for Ashby-de-laZouch.

- The estate is clearly marked from the first island into Ashby by the ‘brown’ heritage signs, Ferrers Centre

- Follow these through Lount passing the Ferrer’s Arms on your left and take the next left turn.

- You will see the entrance to the Estate & Hall on the left after the turn.

- You can also enter the estate via Heath End entrance.

- Car parking will be available in the field of hope – sign posted. Entry to the estate is free, however please note you will need £2 for parking – all profits go to Marie Curie Charity.

- Please allow plenty of time to park, register , attend the briefing and get to the swim start ready to collect your timing chip - we recommend arriving at least 60min before your start time.

Before you leave home -

- Ensure you have an understanding on what event you are doing , the swim/bike/run distances for your event and have looked through the course maps.

- £2 Cash for car parking.

- Leave any bad moods or negative energy at home ☺

- SMILE and be Patient , CONSIDERATE and KIND to everyone you meet – thank you

- There is enough doom & gloom and nonsense in the world right now , so switch off from all that and enjoy this unique venue and enjoy the event ☺

***There will be no changing facilities, only Porta loos***

Registration – Event day & Saturday 10 June 4.30-5.30pm

- The Registration will be near the Transition area – see table below

- Before registering, please find your race number on the start entry list, entering the registration area and ensure you know what race you have entered.

- Please do not ask too many questions at registration this causes lots of queuing and could delay the start. If you have read the event guide and are present for the event briefing then all your questions will be answered. There will also be volunteers and technical officials in and around the transition area to help with questions and ease any nerves ☺

- If you are a BTF member, please show your BTF License with photo or you will be asked to pay the day license fee (£6).

- All competitors will receive a silicone swim cap to wear during the race , helmet/bike stickers, 2x race numbers (to be pinned at least all 4 corners on the front of your race top, or on a race belt). Please bring your own recycled safety pins.

- All competitors will also receive a wrist band, and this will be checked on entry to the transition area and swim holding area. No wrist band, no entry.

- Timing chips will be used; these will be issued on the morning of the event in the swim holding area - please don’t forget to secure on your left ankle before going to the lake. If you lose your chip, you will be charged - £60!

- Please ensure your race numbers are visible at all times & do not fold your numbers! You may receive a 2minute penalty if you do! After you have registered please familiarise

yourself with the venue, in/outs etc. The swim course will be marked out and you will have a great view from the bridge.

- There will be safety briefings 10min before you enter the water on Raceday.

- HELPERS PLEASE – we are always in need of an extra pairs of hands , even if it’s just for 2030min to give someone a comfort break! Please let any of the event team know if you can help out on the day or email info@endorphinsport.com before the event. Any helpers can receive free entry (for themselves or friends/family) to future events - depending on how long they help for.

***You will collect your timing chip just before you go into the lake on event day - not at registration***

Event Timings –

- The first wave of competitors (Olympic Distance ) will start at 7am.

- Please note: It is your responsibility to be in swim holding area 15mins before your allocated start time.

- You will receive a compulsory briefing before entering the lake. If you miss your start time, you will be asked to wait for the next wave.

- There will be no opportunity to get in the water for a warm up before your race start. Please go through a dry land warm up and prepare yourself as best as you can for the swim.

- Only competitors will be permitted in the swim holding area.

- Please respect the helpers/marshals and one-way systems and barriers in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

- As always, we will aim to keep to schedule, however things happen, and our focus is ensuring everyone is safe in each race. Please, do not put pressure on the event team who are doing their best to ensure everyone enjoys the event, keep your ears open to the commentator who will keep you in the loop with timings and any delays.

- *For those staying local or camping there will be an opportunity to register the day before between 4.30-5.30pm. Timing chips will be given in the swim holding area on the day.

- Please be patient and courteous - We are only human after all – Thank you.

Transition Area –

- This will be in front of the main Hall, lake side, walk down from the Ferrers Centre.

- Entry to the transition area will require you to show your wristband, race number. There will be one main entrance to the transition area.

- The transition area will only be open to competitors and will remain open throughout the duration of the event so if you are preparing to race or have finished racing, please be aware of competitors who are still racing, they will have right of way!

- There will be no marking permitted in transition, this includes the use of talc on the floor.

- It is important that you understand where all the entrances and exits are.

- Also make sure you set out your equipment, so that when you come into transition from the swim, your cycling & running gear is ready to go.

- Only competitors will be allowed in the Transition area.

- Marshalls will be on hand within this area to answer any questions.

The Swim

Please Note; After the drought of 2022, Swim courses may change slightly due to mother nature….

- PLEASE ENSURE YOUR TIMING CHIP IS VISIBLE, NOT UNDER YOUR WETSUIT. Thank you.

- Please be mindful there will be mixed ability swimmers, so please try to avoid any collisions and look where you are swimming!

- Practice swim sessions - Thursday 8 June 6-7pm and a Recce swim FOC Saturday 10 June 55.30pm for all those who have entered the triathlon, aquabike & aquathlon on Sunday 11 June

- Swim hats are supplied and are compulsory for safety reasons.

- Please recce the swim exit and run into transition area and in/outs etc

- Please ensure you study the course maps - direction and distance for your age category.

- On completion of your swim distance, exit the lake using the pontoon over to the transition area (this is just a 50m run on grass).

- Olympic (3 x Laps) , Sprint (2 x Laps) , Super Sprint (1 x Lap)

The Bike

PLEASE REMEMBER WHICH EVENT YOU ARE DOING – follow these links –OLYMPIC (3 x Laps ), SPRINT (2 x Laps) or SUPER SPRINT (1 x Lap)

- The bike route will be fully signed and marshalled in key points HOWEVER it your responsibility to KNOW the bike course, do not just follow the person in front of you. They may not be doing the event.

- Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions and ensure you have familiarised yourself with the bike routes if you haven’t had chance to recce the course.

- Ensure your race number is clearly visible on the back of your outer clothing and your bike number clearly visible on your seat post.

- You must have your helmet fastened, before you can touch your bike and make your way out of the BIKE OUT channel.

- On exiting the bike out channel, you will mount your bike after the MOUNT LINE. DO NOT mount your bike before this point; or you may be disqualified as this is for your own safety.

- Please note: all the roads used in this route are open to the public. You are expected to adhere to all rules of the Highway Code, this means giving way to traffic at junctions. Marshalls are positioned as a presence, NOT to stop traffic for you!

- Any competitors seen to not be adhering to these rules or riding dangerously will be disqualified. It isn’t worth taking unnecessary risks for the sake of a couple of seconds!

- The bike route is undulating through Leics & South Derbyshire countryside;

- On exiting transition head straight on over the bridge up the hill – little gears on your bike, in an easy gear when you’re racked in transition. Follow the Bike Route Signs past Calke Abbey entrance , heading towards Ticknall.

- On approaching Staunton Harold Estate via the Heath End entrance - Straight on to complete another lap for the OLYMPIC/SPRINT and right turn into the estate for the SUPER SPRINT competitors. Look out for the bike signs!

- Please Note: - There is a ‘NEUTRALISED ZONE’ . The bike route ends just before the approach to the Ferrers Centre. From here, your bike time stops, and you can ride very slowly to the dismount line. Your race time will start again at this point. We have introduced this for everyone’s safety, anyone found riding fast through this area will be disqualified.

- Head for the transition area in little gears high cadence ready for the run.

- Dismount just before the DISMOUNT LINE and then run/walk with your bike into transition and rack it in the same place you left from.

- Once your bike is racked, you are permitted to take off your helmet, change to your running gear and head out of transition.

Dangerous cycling will not be tolerated – you have been warned!

The Run

- The Run route will be fully signed and marshalled in key points, HOWEVER it is your responsibility to be familiar with the Run course, do not just follow the person in front of you

- Your race number must be clearly visible on the front of your outer clothing.

- Exit transition through the RUN OUT channel, immediate right in front of the magnificent Georgian mansion and join the run course through the idyllic private gardens.

Aquabike Competitors

- Aquabike competitors start in usual waves from your estimated swim time.

- Your total time will finish when you cross over the ‘Bike In’ timing mat.

- After you have finished and racked your bike, please head towards the Finish Gantry and let the Marshals know that you have finished your Aquabike race and we’ll ensure you are given your well-deserved medal and take a Finish Photo by our professional photographers.

Aquathlon Competitors

- Aquathlon competitors will start after the triathlon & aqua bike competitors to ensure the run course marshals are all in position.

Club Team Relay Event –

- Only one person from each team will be expected to register.

- Each team will receive 2 race numbers (one for the cyclists back, one for the runner’s front), 2 x number stickers for the bike and helmet.

- The swimmer will run to transition area and handover the timing chip to the cyclist (standing next to the bike with their helmet on).

- The cyclist will then be able to un-rack the bike and make their way out of transition on the bike leg. On returning, the cyclist must first rack the bike and then hand over the timing chip to the runner (waiting next to bike rack)

- The runner will then complete his/her leg and finish at the finish line.

- There will be an opportunity for all team members to cross the line together - please look out for your runner and wait at the start of the Finish Funnel. Do not wait on the course until your runner is approaching and be mindful of other competitors – thank you. If your little ones want to run through the finish with you to make a more memorable finish –please wait at the Start of the Finish Funnel

- Under 15’s can race completing the swim or run leg in a Team of 3. Swimmer minimum age is 11yrs & runner is 13yrs. Age on 31st Dec

- Please note ALL under 16’s will need to complete a parental consent form BEFORE the event. Complete here

- The Lake Swim – wetsuits are optional above 14 degrees - swim hats are supplied and must be worn.

- Competitors need to be in the swim holding area 15mins before your start time, changed, ready to race with your timing chip on your LEFT ankle.

Litter

- Anyone found littering will be disqualified immediately and not invited back to any future event. Please place in bins provided and take your litter with you.

- The dropping of any litter will not be tolerated at endorphinsport events.

Event Rules –

- This event will be held in accordance with the BTF rules.

- All competitors will require third party insurance either via a BTF Day License or as part of the BTF Membership.

Results –

- Timing chips will be used on this event making it possible for you to view your time soon after crossing the finish line.

- Please hand your timing chip back at the finish. If you lose your chip, you will be charged£60!

- Results will be provided from Titanium Race Timing

- A full set of FINAL results will be available on www.endorphinsport.com the evening following the event.

- Any disputes or amendments must be made immediately via the Race Directors/Technical Official ON THE DAY.

Presentation -

- 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female in each age group and Fastest Team (team of 3)

- Please stay for the Presentation and please check your time and age group position before the Presentation time. Approx. 12/12.30pm

Helpers needed!

- HELPERS PLEASE – we are always in need of an extra pairs of hands , even if it’s just for 2030min! Any helpers can receive free entry (for themselves or friends/family) to future events - depending on how long they help for.

- Helpers can volunteer to: Set up the day before, During the event or after the event for a free entry for any endorphinsport event.

- The Volunteer’s form is on our website to register your interest and lets us know which event you’d like to help, your preferred role etc.

Refreshments –

- Ginger and Blue will be providing delicious coffee/iced coffee and locally made ice pops.

- Woodfellas Pizza will be onsite with two hand crafted wood fired pizza ovens, preparing all fresh ingredients in front of you, hand stretching the dough and cooking your pizzas to perfection.

- There is also the estates independent Ferrers Centre that offers eateries, food deli, shops, and a garden centre.

Camping - Still a few pitches left

- Idyllic lake side camping - the only time of year you can camp at this stunning venue!

- Make a weekend of it with camping Friday & Saturday night. Waking up a few meters away from the lake and remove the hassle of driving early in the morning to the venue.

- This is a pop up site with warm/hot showers, porta loos and water access with stunning scenery.

- Book camping here

- A separate email will be sent separately to all campers with specific instructions.

Further Information -

- Please check www.endorphinsport.com for all event information and Facebook page & Instagram for updates.

- Please note that will not be checking emails the week before the event so visit www.endorphinsport.com and you can you find the information you need by reading the event guide thoroughly.

- Emails will be replied to on a priority basis. If you cannot attend the event please read our Withdrawal Policy carefully. If you must withdraw, we will issue a race credit not a refund.

- Please understand that we will be busy in the weeks before the event - we like the great outdoors and are not glued to our phones/lap tops all the time!

Spectators –

- We have always been conscious of trying to make our events as spectator friendly as possible. Please encourage your friends and family to attend and enjoy your day together. This venue is brilliant for spectators allowing you to be up close to watch the swim from the bridge, bike out up the hill and most of the run.

- Entry to the estate is free – apart from car parking in the field of hope - £2. All profits go to Marie Curie Charity.

- We do have Ginger and Blue joining us to provide delicious coffee, iced coffee, and ice pops down at the lakeside/transition area.

- Also, Woodfellas Pizza will be onsite with two hand crafted wood fired pizza ovens, preparing all fresh ingredients in front of you, hand stretching the dough and cooking your pizzas to perfection.

Club Gazebos –

- Please be mindful this is not a public park, respect the event venue and the event organisers, it is courtesy to ask the event organiser before you rock up with a club gazebo or two!

- We are more than happy for you to promote your club and have a designated area for you club, friends, and family to enjoy the event, but please ask first – thank you

- You need to ensure you speak with the event organiser before event day. You will be allocated a pitch and instructions on how you need to erect it safely - guy ropes and weights on each leg. Failure to comply will result in the gazebo being taken down.

- This is for the health & safety of everyone at the event including YOU.

Medical –

- As always we have the wonderful Ultramedix present for the weekend. We like to keep then quiet but if anyone should need treatment they will be positioned close to the transition area.

- We would like to thank you for your support, especially over the last couple of years and all the fantastic marshals/volunteers, whom without these events would never happen, to all the family & staff at the Staunton Harold Estate and all those that made it possible to run this event.

- Please respect the fact that all Volunteers/Marshall’s have given up their day/weekend so that you can enjoy the event and would not be possible without them, so please abide by their decision - they are there for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
