stories from swamps and white rooms

Why alike ? The angles are narrow, almost intimate. The choice of colors limited to brown, black, cobalt and green palette. Characteristic for this style is chiaroscuro effect combined with poor lighting what gives a melancholic cold atmosphere. The central issue is a human being with all its injured feelings including love failure, depression and insanity. In a lot of cases models are presented without showing their face which makes a photograph universal and easy to identify with. Isn’t it hard, if not impossible, to create anything significantly innovative that doesn’t look artificial or forced at the same time ? Alike means classic and therefore not really new. It’s similar to something what has already been done before. So what is the point of presenting photographs, that for an untrained eye, all look almost the same ? In the works I have chosen for the Alike issue the similarity is something powerful, something that has potential. You can enjoy more pictures in a beloved style created by different minds, not by one artist. That’s why they’re all unique although they have supperficial similarity. A viewer has a chance to melt into a picture like they are meditating. The viewer can focus on subtle and not obvious moods and discover features characteristic for the certain artist. It’s like entrancing a forest full of mysteries where you have to step carefully and look closely because the most interesting things are hidden in the moss.

The Pinophyta (conifer) genome contains seven times more DNA then that of humans, conifer cones are both male & female. Rods & cones are photoreceptor cells which contribute signals used by the visual system to form a representation of the visual world triggered by absorption of photons. The Pineal gland, an endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain, produces the serotonin derivative melatonin, which modulates wake/sleep patterns. The actual size of the universe is unknown; it may be infinite. words by: Godspeed, US, facebook.com/godspeedart
