October 2015 newsletter (1)

October Newsletter Fall is officially here and besides the odd day of above seasonal temperatures, the weather is definitely getting cooler. Please make sure to dress your child in weather appropriate clothing. Now is a great time to send a toque and gloves as well as warm boots and jacket for those chilly mornings we play outside. We are able to go outside to a temperature on -15 degrees including wind-chill so please make sure your child is dressed suitably for the day. If a child does not have proper outdoor attire, we will be calling parents to have any and all necessary apparel dropped off. As most of you know our manager Ronda is on an indefinite injury leave. We are doing our best to run the centre smoothly without her. As of this point, I (Jessica) will be the acting manager. Please feel free to approach me with any questions or concerns. I am new to this position and will try my best to fill Ronda’s shoes. October seems to be the season where colds and flus start to circulate among the children in the centre. We ask that sick children do not attend since we know how interactive they are with each other and bacteria spreads rapidly. If your child requires medication of any sort, it must be given to a teacher upon arrival. Medication including over the counter cough medicines are not to be left in lunch kits, cubbies or back packs. We require a form to be filled out and signed before we can administer any form of medication to a child. Our centre hours are from 7am to 6pm. We do not accept children into the building before 7am and a late fee will be issued if you are still in the building with your child after 6pm. Please make sure that you follow these hours since our staff members are only paid to be here during our operational hours. Please make sure invoices are looked over to ensure that your balance is being paid in full. Sometimes adjustments are made due to over or under payment of previous invoices. You may have a credit or an outstanding balance that you may have looked past. Outstanding balances must be paid in full as it is essential to the business to have all amounts paid up to date. We try to keep our child files up to date as possible. If you know or are unsure that your file may need to be updated (e.g. new phone number, address or places of employment) please let us know and provide any new information possible. Our parking lots are idle free zones!! Our children play not only in the playground but in the field beside the daycare and once in a while on the front lawn. We are very concerned about air quality especially as it gets colder, the air becomes dense and hovers along the ground. Please make sure to turn your vehicle off when dropping off and picking up your child. On that note we also ask that parents/caregivers do not speed in and out of our parking lots. Children are unpredictable and it only takes a second for an unseen child to run in front or behind a moving vehicle. Spinning of tires can cause rocks to fly and be a hazard as well. Please be respectful of others when entering or leaving our centre parking lots. Lunches must be put in the fridge upon arrival. We refuse to serve a child any meat, cheese or dairy that has been left in a non-refrigerated lunch box. It is a food safe rule and we will not hesitate to contact parents to bring a different lunch. If you have any question/concerns feel free to come into the office or call the centre 793-5437
