Centennial Park is Fort St. John’s premier park and a community gathering place for the City’s largest annual events: Canada Day, Santa Claus Parade and High on Ice Winterfest. During summer and autumn, it acts as a weekly outdoor marketplace for the Fort St. John Farmers’ Market and the location for Movies in the Park. Centennial Park currently includes grassed open space, a mixture of trees and shrubs, a playground, a skate park, gathering spaces, a spray park (re-opening in 2017), a formal garden, honorary monuments, trails, sidewalks, access roads, parking and vacant land. Parking is shared with the adjacent recreation facilities and there is abundant on-street parking within a 400 m radius from the edges of the park. The park also features a commemorative monument recognizing Alexander Mackenzie, the first European to explore the area.
