Tips For Empaths

In our previous month’s issue, we discussed what empathy is and ways to know if you are an empath. Being an empath can have its challenges, as we are constantly surrounded by many different types of energies that can affect us, and although many are positive and good-feeling, plenty are not. That being said, it is important to not only protect ourselves from any harsh or draining energies, but also to take care of ourselves on different levels, so we are best equipped and stable when out and around others.

Here are some things to keep in mind if you are an empath:

- Put yourself first and know when to say “no” to others’ requests and needs if they are impeding your well-being.

- Let go of others’ emotional trauma, heartache, and problems. Just because you feel, understand, and probably can relate to them, doesn’t mean you need to hold onto the emotions and stress.

- Emphasize and celebrate the good. There may be some turbulent times as an empath, and in our life in general, but celebrating the good (big and small) puts us in a higher vibration, thus attracting happier, more positive experiences.

- Direct your attention to and process your own emotions, ensuring that as much as others may rely on you for support, you require the same from yourself and others.

- Meditate regularly and spend time alone. Use crystals and gemstones for healing and protection.

- Journal your thoughts and emotions as a way to process and release them.

- Spend time in nature as a way to calm, ground, and rejuvenate yourself.
