1–17 NOV WWI Crochet Poppy Cross View the cross of 639 crochet poppies which represent the names from WWI on the War Memorial. Held at Bank Street Gardens (near Queen’s Jubilee lamp post). Lead Partner: Focus Centre Crochet Class
1–12 NOV Borders College Student Exhibition Borders College students will display written accounts of what the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI means to them, compared to older family members. Medals and artefacts will add to the historical aspect. One student is making a diorama representing a WW1 trench system. 4 NOV at 5.00pm A Couple of Down & Outs + Q&A Forum A unique opportunity to see the 1924 film and hear the story behind the inspiration for War Horse. Held at the Pavilion Cinema. 7 NOV Remembrance Service for Gala Academy + Primary P7 Classes Pupils of Galashiels Academy and the town’s primary schools remember those lost in war. 10 NOV at 11am – 3pm Curated Table-top Display Abbotsford will be exploring the stories of the period by showcasing objects from the collection that once belonged to the Maxwell-Scott family.
