I am interested in architecture and urban relations from a broader scale to a human scale. I believe that good architecture has ideas on the vast contemporary topics and brings them together from master plan level to interior design level with the intention of sustainable and socially responsible design. I am excited to join such a creative, energetic, multicultural, and collaborative firm with all the notions.

Hybrid school with medical facilities in Val Seriana

Architectural Design Studio | Politecnico di Milano

Project Location: Pradalunga, Italy, 2021

Instructors: Pierre-Alain Croset, Elena Fontanella, Deborah Briccola

Collaborator: Karen Gebara

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Val Seriana was one of the first places hit by the new disease. Immediate decisions had to be made before any delay regarding the public spaces. Schools were one of the prior places that had been abandoned or refunctioned in order to create space for medical activities. Thus, the concept of resilience became a more actual issue in architecture.

The Hybrid School was designed to answer unexpected necessities and new interrelations of the world within pandemic. The main idea is to bring educational and medical facilities together with an interactive exchange. The building is designed to work in a flexible way to be responsive.

The concept is to connect the two most used streets in Pradalunga to activate weak existing relations and unused lands by giving a new public urban surface to the users. Including a library and gym, the building welcomes the people of the town by becoming a meeting point, while taking the individual needs of these distinct functions into account.

Urban Constellation

Connective networks between people, places, urban and nature: Marrakech as a multifaced city

Project Location: Marrakech, Morocco, 2022

Urban Constellation focuses on Marrakech’s ancient, rich leather craftmenship heritage in a multidimensional urban case. Looking at culture, heritage, economy, politics and geography, the project focuses on the a dramatic context in North Africa.

The city site is characterized by zoned unplanned undervalued spaces, and a lack of continuity. With a closer look at those areas, the aim is the finding the underlying value and maximizing potential. The project’s primary starting point looks at the leather tanneries, one of Marrakech’s biggest tourist attraction. Using the journey and and stages of leather production, the project proposes a rehabilitation plan of the site, reactivating the river side as well as interventions along the site. To create a direct linkage between medina and what we envision as the new face of the city. The interventions include strategically placed nodes of connection, remediate underused spaces, create open public spaces, build on existing resources and developing green spaces.

By creating multiple nodes along the green buffer corridor, users are guided through the journey. The museum functions as another landmark node, pushing users through to the public gardens by allowing for a pathway that connects with its urban surroundings. In addition, users are guided towards the entertainment zone, housing, sport fields, and public pools lacking in Marrakech.

Cantilhotel

Revitalizing brownfield as a train station and hotel

Architectural Design Studio | Istanbul Technical University

Project Location: Istanbul, Turkey, 2018

Instructor: Fatma Erkok

Individual work

Cantilhotel, located under the suburban bridge of Sogutlucesme in Kadikoy, has temporary accommodation and train station functions to serve the city center, especially the stadium and the marriage office in its immediate vicinity. In order not to interfere with the protection of the old trees and the interruption of the public park, the construction area was determined so that it would not be much out of the projection of the suburban bridge.

The parts of the bridge except the railways were removed and the bridge lightened for utilizing sunlight. In order to provide movement on the facade and to obtain varying volumes in the interior, cantilevers were created. Accommodation units are positioned around the inner courtyard, aiming to have private areas in crowded city center.

Dental Museum

Dental Museum and headquarters of dental businessmen association

Refurbishment Project | Mithra Istanbul

Project Location: Istanbul, Turkey, 2019-2020

Professional Work

Located in the historical peninsula in Istanbul, Dental Museum is the first museum devoted to dental exhibition in Turkey. Along with the museum, the whole refurbishment project includes the new headquarters of dental businessmen association. Three storey building is consist of three parts. Ground floor is intended to be a public welcoming place with the museum, temporary exhibitions, and public events for businessmen, dentists, students and anyone who is interested in dental history and technology. The basement floor includes a large seminar room and a foyer for gatherings. The first floor is the office includes office and meeting room, becoming more private and silent.

The museum is intended to serve as an infusive place that helps getting to know about dental anatomy, dental history, the developing and changing medical technologies, and overcoming the dentophobia for especially children. To achieve these, simple and warm materials were selected in the design of interiors. The dominant colors are concrete gray, wood brown, white and retro pink. The message is conveyed with the appealing graphics, neat historic collection, and simple structure that allows them to be at the forefront.

During the project realization process, I worked with one more colleague as well as the museologists, curators, graphic designer, contractor, manufacturers and client directly. I had the opportunity of fully involving the schematic design process, digital modelling, visualization, technical drawing, and partially the check of the construction site works. All the visualizations and drawings in the portfolio are produced by me.

Cubetto

Free floating public space

International student workshop | MEDS Byblos

Project Location: Byblos, Lebanon, 2018

Instructors: Eugenio Chironna, Alex Marguerie

Lebanon is currently facing the issue of the over privatisation of land, which has resulted in a lack of public space. This intervention seeks to address this need by situating itself in the neutral territory of the Mediterranean. The pavilion is meant to be a recreational amenity that is accessible to everyone. Cubetto’s frame is constructed from renewable and recycled materials to inspire local architecture that is both socially and environmentally sustainable.

Within this frame is a parabolic form that is constructed from hung strips of fabric. The transparent quality of the fabric creates a complex layering of space, while its lightness allows Cubetto to become animated by surrounding winds and attract interest of passers-by.
