Bev Oswald of BarLouie

After graduating with a business degree from the University of Evansville, Bev Oswald went on to gain experience in marketing by working for two national firms. She then opened Oswald and Associates. The company is a full service advertising agency, promotions, and video production company, and is now called Oswald Marketing. Starting with a typewriter in her home and a few small clients, Bev grew the company to the largest and one of the most reputable marketing firms in the Tri-state area. After over 25 years, she sold the business to two of her officers. It continues to grow today, is still a woman business enterprise, and is still the largest such firm in the area.

After leaving the advertising business, Bev opened Bar Louie in Evansville. She had an investment in real estate at the Bar Louie location and had dealt with several companies who had leased the location but had defaulted on their payments. So she decided to open Bar Louie at that 7700 Eagle Crest Blvd location, and the Bar Louie Evansville restaurant has been in business at its current location for 11 years now! Bar Louie is a local bar and restaurant featuring a unique comfortable atmosphere, scratch kitchen, a dynamic beer selection and hand crafted cocktails.

In the community, Bev has served on the Evansville and Convention Visitors Board of Directors for over 25 years and served as chairman the last three years. Additionally, she was named Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by the Evansville Chamber of

Commerce, nominated for an Athena Award, and has for numerous organizations including United Way, Red Cross, Albion Fellows Bacon Center, and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Bev’s mentor was her mother, the late Betty Knight Smith, also a woman business owner and an historical figure in local politics in Evansville.
