GARDENS OF WHIMSY
Retail Design
Revit, Enscape, Photoshop Fall 2020 - Iowa State University Using the existing building envelope of the Fendi Flagship store in Rome, Italy, we were tasked with creating a high end and immersive experience for shoppers of the brand REDValentino.
CONCEPT REDValentino is a branch of Valentino marketed toward the young, modern, and edgy woman who is looking to push what femininity means. To represent the androgeny of the brand, the flagship store will take on an atmosphere that is dreamy, whimsical, and ominous. These themes are conveyed through elements inspired by Alice in Wonderland, such as the use of toadstool mushrooms, moss, and trees to convey a whimsical garden scene with an ominous twist. As gender boundaries are being pushed further and the gender binary becomes less prevelent in clothing, the flagship store intends to reflect the timelessness of this new androgynous fashion movement within the material and furniture selections. Brushed brass and brutalist concrete walls will be paired with pink, green, and red hues to represent the mixing of masculinity and femininity that REDValentino does with their designs.

Luxury Vacation Home AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape, Photoshop Spring 2020 - Iowa State University
The task was to design a vacation home for a celebrity in a city of our choosing using luxury materials and furniture. This home for Steve Lacy is located in Santa Cruz, California where the relaxed nature of the surrounding beaches matches the laid back environment of the floral shaped home.
CONCEPT Inspired by the musical culture of the late 1960s and 1970s and the design theory “Psychology of Awe”, this home incorporates funky and floral shapes with lively colors to awaken the user to an awe-inspiring experience. Curved walls, vibrant colors, and natural light are used throughout the space to create a lively atsmosphere. Combined with uniquely designed furniture from the 1960s, an open floor plan, and the setting of Santa Cruz, CA, the elements in this home provide an atmosphere that is funky and relaxing, allowing the user to comfortably socalize and free their mind. 15

ATLANTIC MEETS PACIFIC Apartment Design Revit and AutoCAD Spring 2020 - Iowa State University Using an existing floor plan, we were asked to design a luxury apartment for a young couple moving from Norway to San Francisco, CA. One spouse works from home full time and is a wheelchair user. The space had to be ADA compliant and it also had to include a home office and a spacious gourmet kitchen.
CONCEPT In order to create a space that incorporates the refreshing aesthetics of Scandinavian Modern desgn with the indusrtrialized nature of San Francisco, a light hued color palette and natural materials will be paired with diagonal and linear elements to create a space in which the Atlantic meets the Pacific. The light color palette will open the space up to enchance the natural light and also soften the space. The natural materials give a nod to the Scandinavian Modern movement, which the clients cherish and wish to have in their space. By incorporating diagonal walls and metal and brick finishes, the industrialized aesthetic of San Francisco juxtaposes with the softeness of Scandinavian Modern. This juxtapostion adds interest and playfulness to the space, which will allow the client to feel a piece of their home country while also becoming aclimated to their new home city. 21

THE NEST
Educational and Sensory Facility Hand Rendering Fall 2019 - Iowa State University As a group of three, we were tasked with designing a vocational traning center for those on the Autism Spectrum who are looking to begin a professional career and an independent lifestyle. The space was required to incorporate the Biophilic design theory, Universal design, and a sensory room.
CONCEPT This space will be a nest for those on the Autism Spectrum to feel comforted and supported by the world through the unseen elements of the golden ratio. ratio. With natural design elements, such as earth tones, a water feature, and tree-like columns, users will feel the rhythm and breath of each material, element, and space within the building. A hierarchy of space will stabilize the facility and will work with elements of transluscency to make the space feel welcoming and comfortable. Curving elements will take on the form of the golden ratio to distinguish space and promote serenity serenity..
