Welcome to Garnet Lake Ranch, a lakefront equestrian paradise nestled in a secluded valley in British Columbia’s sunny South Okanagan.
The Property This tranquil 80-acre property on 1000 feet of private lakefront is the ultimate setting to live out your dreams surrounded by spectacular natural beauty. A pleasant 20-minute drive west from the town of Summerland brings you to the gem of Meadow Valley, Garnet Lake Ranch. A gravel drive curves under timber gates, along rail-fenced pastures to the heart of the ranch. The Barn, Ranch House, and Machine Shed sit roughly in the centre of the property surrounded by trees and green lawns overlooking Garnet Lake. The property is ideally suited for a horse breeding or small cattle operation, an equestrian centre, eco-retreat, or the ultimate private sanctuary for a horse loving family. The meticulously maintained ranch is fully fenced and cross fenced with a round pen, arena, paddocks, and 30 acres of irrigated hay land. Varied terrain of lush marshlands, green grasses, and beautifully natural treed areas are home to a wide range of wildlife and bird species. A registered artesian well on the property delivers abundant pure, clean water via 2 inch gravity flow line at 40lbs pressure to all buildings plus a 12-zone lawn irrigation system. A 10 hp electric pump supports the system to irrigate fields. A new 400amp electrical service was installed in 2020. Underground lines distribute power to each building.

The Lake Garnet Lake has a storied history and is known to locals, but its secluded location and limited public access make it very private. Only two other properties touch the lake. The 83-acre lake is long and narrow, measuring about 1.8 miles long and less than 1000 feet at its widest point, in front of the ranch. A peaceful campground on the shoreline just past the Barn has levelled spots, picnic tables, a woodshed, and potable water. Multiple points on the shoreline provide easy access to the lake for swimming, fishing or launching paddleboards, canoes or small boats. Your morning trail ride can take you along the shoreline, up into the surrounding hills to explore and back to find new paths to meander through your property. You will find time to appreciate warm afternoons by the water watching a lazy turtle sunning itself or a sassy heron dipping into the glimmering water for its dinner.

The Area The Ranch sits on Garnet Lake at the north end of Meadow Valley in the South Okanagan district of Summerland. The region is one of the warmest and driest areas in Canada. Always a popular tourist destination, the area has long been known for producing the finest peaches, cherries, apples, and pears. Over the past few decades world class wine industry has developed. This area, just west of Okanagan Lake, along the historic Brigade Fur Trail, has a long and interesting history. Around 1845 the first non-Aboriginal settlement in the Okanagan Valley was established at the south end of Garnet Lake. The legendary Priest Camp was originally founded as a Jesuit Mission. It was later used by fur traders, by miners heading for the Cariboo goldfields and cowboys driving cattle.
