Housed within a massive ex-industrial building in the thriving former mining town of St Just-in-Penwith, the Jackson Foundation was set up by world-renowned contemporary artist Kurt Jackson and his wife Caroline to host an annual programme of quality contemporary exhibitions, working in partnership with a variety of environmental and nonprofi t organisations. n display is an ever evolving schedule of works and exhibitions that celebrate and champion the arts, our landscape and the natural world around us.
This exciting and versatile world-class art gallery is free to the public, bridging the gap between public and private art centres and is the ideal venue to view Kurt Jackson’s and other important and upcoming artists’ eclectic range of creative expression encompassing painting, photography, ceramic, sculpture, poetry, installation and fi lm.
Run by husband and wife team Fynn and Zinzi Tucker, this environmentally focused art space is a green-built, sustainably managed, carbon positive concern. Powered by an array of high e ciency solar panels and ground source heat pumps, the Jackson Foundation goes further by delivering paintings throughout Cornwall in one of its two zeroemission fully electric cars.
Creating local employment, raising awareness and funds for groups working to protect the environment and giving back to a community that has been home to the to the Jackson family for over 30 years, the Foundation works to become a positive force for change.
The Jackson Foundation aims to provide a space, open to one and all, to re ect on our symbiotic relationship with the natural world, and the rewards to be found by taking a step back and looking around; to see the world through artists’ eyes.
This autumn’s big upcoming show is Kurt Jackson’s Kenidjack: A Cornish Valley – a sister exhibition to 2017’s Cot: A Cornish Valley – a stunning collection of paintings and sculpture that follows a stream from its source on the moors above St Just, down through the valley and into the sea, taking in the sights, sounds, history, heritage and wildlife along the way.
