She prefers to work in the landscape itself, starting with preliminary studies, which often lead to a series of paintings in that landscape, each looser than the last. Her work moves beyond just describing the subject to also conveying its atmosphere and her own emotional response to it. Janet loves the play of colours against each other using the freedom and pure colours of watercolour. She walks on the coast path most days and this is inevitably a huge inspiration for her work. Janet’s vibrant work can be seen in the Spring Exhibition at Lizard Art from Saturday 2nd April. Opening Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 3pm.

Tranquillity Dawn by Dr Martín Raskovsky “The journey from camera to canvas is my creative journey. Photographic digital manipulation is like traditional darkroom manipulation, but with the aid of a computer.” Searching for an image that matches his feelings and emotions, says Martin, is like travelling along a dark tunnel with the light at the end not yet visible. “I know it’s there, and I know if I continue I will eventually reach it. I sometimes end up in a blind alley. Thankfully though, recovery in the digital world is easy. You just back up to a previous state. Sometimes, this different path results in different results. There is usually very little resemblance between original and fi nal art.
