Heating & Ventilation PANASONIC INTRODUCES NEW AQUAREA DESIGNER ONLINE TOOL FOR HEATING AND COOLING PROFESSIONALS

Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions is pleased to introduce its Aquarea Designer, the online tool to help heating and cooling designers, architects, design offices, installers, and distributors alike.

The newly developed air-towater design tool is optimised to help professionals easily identify the most appropriate Aquarea air-to-water heat pump for a particular application, to calculate the savings compared to other heat sources and to calculate CO2 emissions very quickly. The easy-to-use online tool is accessible through Panasonic’s PRO Club and does not require any software downloads, making it a hassle-free solution. The tool has undergone major developments resulting in a modern, straightforward navigation interface, with easily identifiable tabs to help steer users where they need to go. It also includes a detailed ‘user guide’ for additional support if necessary. Panasonic’s bespoke program helps to promptly design and size an Aquarea heat pump system, allowing users to identify the correct application for them at the simple click of a button. Users can compare investment and operational costs compared to other heat sources.

It also calculates the savings and swiftly calculates CO2 emissions. The system can produce a Heat Pump Design Report which includes product web links for heat pumps and DHW tanks and can be individually selected to include the following information: operational costs, investment costs, detailed product information, and ErP label. Aquarea Designer will calculate the project’s energy costs in terms of domestic hot water, heating and cooling demand.

It will furthermore show the total heat consumption by operation mode and the calculated SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance). It then allows the designer to show clients a comparison with other equipment options such as heating by conventional gasfired boilers, oil fuel systems, pellets and standard electric heating. Fuel cost savings of 30% and lower carbon emissions are realistic on all continuous flow hot water heating units and systems installed at any commercial site.

The technology employed means that a site and end-user pays only for fuel used to heat the limitless flow hot water to the required temperature - the units are all programmable up to 85 degrees C.

Construction work has been completed on Gorton Mill House, a new £17million extra care scheme in Gorton, Manchester which, as well as providing 106 apartments, has also been designed around low carbon ambitions. With the use of ground source heat pumps, solar panels and vehicle charging points, Pozzoni Architecture has met the aim of client Southway Housing in that all new build properties will utilise renewable heating and hot water systems, a move away from being reliant upon gas. As well as helping to combat climate change, this approach will also benefit residents due to lower energy bills.

The needs of customers have been at the forefront of the design process, even when it comes to the innovative methods used to reduce the carbon footprint. The heating systems used in the 106 extra care apartments at Gorton Mill House may be cutting edge but have been chosen to look as familiar and conventional as possible for the demographic of the residents, for example pairing modern radiators with a ground source heat pump to provide space and hot water heating. Built by Rowlinson, Gorton Mill House is part of Southway Housing’s ‘With Care’ offer, meaning there is a dedicated care team based within the building, 24-hours a day. It offers excellent on-site facilities including a bistro, garden lounge, activity room, bathing suite and hair & nail salon, along with large, beautiful communal gardens. The development looks to help fulfil Manchester City Council’s housing strategy in respect of ‘Living Longer, Living Better’ in adaptable age friendly homes which encourage health and well-being through increased independence, reduced social isolation and community involvement.
