Information Technology Service Provider Launched at Huntsville Center Information Technology Service provider branch of Huntsville Center has now become a fastest growing branch within the center. This department is not providing customers with centralized place, in which they can avail of proper tech support, as highlighted by the initial member and ITS chief named Terry Patton. According to Mr. Terry Patton, “Our IT branch has witnessed outstanding and rapid growth via proper support obtained from our management team. Every time, our professionals have requested to include new members into our existing branch and we have provided approval for it. In this way, we have successfully justified our drastic growth with the help of our consistently expanding customer base. Thus, within a period of about two and half years, Huntsville Center’s IT branch has become able to expand staffs from a single person to a group comprises of 21 people.” During the month of November 2012, Patton left his Engineering Directorate designation to establish a new branch named ITS, under the Directorate of Installation Support and Programs Management. In the initial stage, ITS obtained support from the High Performance Computers and Modernization Program conducted by DoD i.e. Department of Defense. This activity has resulted in the modernization of the already existing infrastructure of supercomputers possessed by companies. Four distinct programs operating under the entire ITS fold will include ACE-IT program, GEN-IT, MED-It and HPC modernizing programs. Terry Patton further highlighted that its new ITS branch will offer varieties of acquisition services associated with the Information Technology in 3 primary areas as hardware commodities, software commodities and technical services. In case of technical services, customers will require proper contractor support to meet obligations over both long and short-term basis. Alternatively, the service may use contractors for providing helpdesk workforce, research and development, detailed business analysis and various other important duties, requiring capabilities, which government can choose for acquisition with the help of contract support. In case of the software sector, existing concepts and ideas for customers will require software renewals or updates to represent one-time purchase or reoccurrence of renewal procedures to fulfill requirements of dynamic software requirements of various customers. Hardware commodities area will involve durable equipments required by customers for performing almost all possible electronic communications, like mobile computing equipments, laptops, servers, network routers and varieties of other physical types of technology. Patton concluded, “Our professional or experts team will communicate and coordinate with various types of necessary resources to lead a well-integrated project team for providing support to varying requirements of customers.”
