Yes! The 2018 version of Give Local York was a new and unique opportunity to come together in community with the many other nonprofits who participated. We were able to celebrate our collective determination to improve the quality of life in York County and to expand our reach to many who perhaps did not know what we do and who we are. What are the organization’s goals for 2019? Our fundraising goal overall is $35,000, but our main objective this year is to use the Give Local York platform to share and inform our audiences about the everyday work that we do to help our struggling neighbors in need in York County. In addition, LifePath will launch the Champions program, a peer-to-peer fundraising effort where individuals who believe in our work can help us expand our reach by sharing their passion for LifePath with their friends and family. Where will funds raised through Give Local York be directed? Funds raised through Give Local York this year will go to the day-today work of running the mission. At LifePath, we receive $0 in government funding, so we must raise 100 percent of our operating budget through private donations.

For 10 years, OLLI at Penn State York has offered a wide variety of courses, tours, events, and activities for people who want to learn, for the love of learning. We are one of 122 OLLIs through the United States, and a core principle of all OLLIs is “no homework, no assignments, no stress!” Courses are led by volunteer instructors who have passion and expertise in history, literature, the performing arts, religion, business, technology, government, law, health, gardening, or the sciences. Additionally, OLLI reaches out to historical sites, museums, artists, faith communities, Penn State York faculty, and others to provide programs and opportunities to learn about what makes our region so special. Members have formed special interest groups and have engaged in intergenerational opportunities with area college students. We aim to keep our membership fee and course fees as low as possible so many York County residents can experience the joy of OLLI. Approximately how many staff members and volunteers are involved? We have two full-time staff members, a director, and an administrative assis-

Approximately 30 volunteers lead our six volunteer committees. We currently have 670 members, so OLLI relies heavily on - and appreciates enormously the time our volunteers give each week! Did OLLI at Penn State York participate in the inaugural Give Local York (GLY) last year? OLLI did participate last year but became a participant just days before Give Local York. Our fundraising was minimal in 2018, approximately $1,600. This year, we began preparing for GLY shortly after 2019 began, so we feel much more organized and excited. We are using many of the tools that GLY has provided to help us execute our campaign and have formed a subcommittee of OLLI vol-
unteers to help prepare for the big day. What are the organization’s goals for Give Local York 2019? Our goal for this year is $10,000. Where will funds raised through Give Local York be directed? Funds raised will be used to augment our OLLI endowment. Gifts to an endowment are extremely rewarding because they are invested in perpetuity, and it’s the annual interest that gets added to the operational budget to increase our financial stability and sustainability, maintain low membership and course fees, increase and enhance educational programs, assure adequate staffing and space, etc. In other words, it’s a gift that keeps on giving.
