Choices Ch i &O Options i For a last good-bye, whether your wish is private family time, a public viewing or a ceremony at our locations, there is no additional charge to use the beautiful sleigh bed. We offer dignity and respect, clean, spotless, contemporary facilities

We have personally performed over 7000 cremations, no middlemen. We consider cremation to be a sacred service. Each cremation is done individually and 100% of recoverable cremated remains are returned to the family. Because your loved one never leaves our care, we know exactly whose ashes are in the urn and you don’t have to wonder.

Where Is The Crematory and Who Actually Performs The Cremation? Our private onsite crematory is inside our Kenneth Road facility and is available for your inspection. The same caring, sensitive, licensed funeral directors who make arrangements with families also personally perform the cremations. All this so you don’t have to wonder.

Family May Witness For some faiths, it is customary to witness the placement of the deceased into the cremation chamber and to start the process. Some families stay until the cremation is complete. The courtesy of these options is available to all families we serve as is our witness room which provides a private and comfortable setting.

The Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced the winners of its 2019 Safety Training and Evaluation (STEP) Awards and recognized its 2019 OSHA Partners on May 1. Representatives from several member companies accepted their awards at the ABC Safety Awards Dinner. The anchor of ABC’s Safety Awards program is STEP, which provides companies a structured approach to benchmark and improve their safety efforts. The goal of the program is to provide an organized approach to analyze and further develop a company’s safety and loss prevention. Participating ABC member firms measure their safety processes and policies on 20 key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidence rates. Participating companies score their level of achievement for each component on a weighted point scale and document their incident rates. Companies receive a recognition level of Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Participant based on this

Contest judging and a public reception were held at York College’s Marketview Arts Gallery in York on April 18. Youths Attend 4-H Capital Days Local youths were among 117 4-H participants from across the state who met in Harrisburg recently for the annual Pennsylvania 4-H Capital Days program. Attending from York County were Kayla Henry, Spring Grove; Brenna Johnson, Airville; and Abby Ross, York. Sponsored by Pennsylvania 4-H, Capital Days is a three-day educational program designed to engage 4-H members in the political process and prepare them to become active and engaged citizens of Pennsylvania. According to organizers, participating youths gain leadership and citizenship skills to prepare, empower, and lead them to successful futures. During the event, participants learn about parliamentary procedure, how to read legislation, and party roles and affiliations. They then use that knowledge to discuss and debate a bill and participate in a mock legislative session. This year, delegates discussed a bill to provide for notation on transcripts of students suspended or expelled from institutions of higher education. Other workshops included topics on advocacy, civil discourse, elections, and the voting process. Delegates also participated in an escape room where they had to work together to solve puzzles that would reveal

clues needed to crack a code and open a safe. In addition, delegates had the opportunity to tour the Capitol and have their photo taken on the rotunda steps. Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding spoke to the delegates about how 4-H plays an important role in developing leadership potential and about the Pennsylvania Farm Bill’s Ag and Youth Grant program. Youth programs will be eligible to apply for grants to increase youths’ exposure to agriculture and grow the industry’s future leaders. The event also included an unannounced visit from Gov. Tom Wolf, and it wrapped up with a legislative brunch during which delegates talked with their legislators one-on-one about 4-H and their 4-H experiences. Administered in Pennsylvania by Penn State Extension, 4-H is a nonformal educational youth-development program of the national Cooperative Extension System.

The York County Delegation for 4-H Capital Days included (from left) state Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill; 4-H members Abby Ross, Brenna Johnson, and Kayla Henry; and state Rep. Stan Saylor.

First Capital Federal Credit Union’s president/CEO Sue DeStephano (right) and community engagement officer Lisa Barshinger (center) presented a check for $700 to Hannah Beard (left) of the York County SPCA on April 3. The money was raised through the First Cap Gives Back program, in which First Capital Federal Credit Union (FCU) selects a charity to support each quarter. To raise money for the SPCA, staff members sold paw prints to members at First Capital FCU’s branches. Employees also paid a set amount to wear jeans on a specific day. The $700 raised is in addition to monetary and pet supply donations collected at First Capital FCU’s annual holiday party, which were dropped off in December 2018.
