Dear valued Community Courier readers and advertisers, After 45 years of serving the community in York County, publication of the Community Courier will be suspended indefinitely. The final issue you will receive in your mailbox will be this one, dated Dec. 23, 2020. We are deeply saddened that we had to make such an unfortunate decision due to the ongoing impact of the last 10 months of uncertainly and an unpredictable marketplace. It has been an honor to serve you and the many people and organizations that make our community so special. We thank you for your loyal readership and advertising over the years and hope that we all can be stronger together after this difficult time has passed. Engle Printing & Publishing Co., Inc. (EPC) is the parent company of the Community Courier. EPC continues to serve Lancaster County, Chester County and the Greater Hershey area with local community newspapers. York County residents can now purchase 2021 dog licenses. State law requires all dogs age 3 months and older to be licensed by Friday, Jan. 1. There is a fee for an annual dog license, which is discounted if the animal is spayed or neutered. Lifetime licenses are available for dogs with permanent identifications. Older adults and persons with disabilities may purchase a license at a discounted rate. The owner’s contact information is used by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Dog Law, local police, and shelters to identify lost dogs and get them home safely. Failure to purchase a license for a dog may result in a fine. License fees support animal control services. Dog owners may purchase the licenses online, by mail, or in person at the Treasurer’s Office, which is located at the York County Administrative Center, 28 E. Market St., York, or at any one of the 11 satellite subagents throughout York County. More information, including the mailing address, is available by visiting www.yorkcountypa.gov and clicking on “Departments” at the top of the page, and then “Treasurer.” Readers may also visit www.facebook.com/york countytreasurer. If a dog has lost its lifetime license tag, the Treasurer’s Office can issue replacement tags. Owners should also notify the Treasurer’s Office if there is a change in their contact information. For assistance, readers may contact Alison Falcon at afalcon@yorkcountypa.gov or 717-771-4386.
